I would think that all with the exception of 4 (the eggs) seem to have wrong white balance.

The colours on the hand seem to be bit too cold (pinkish, bluish cast). All the other seem to be bit too warm.

Also, all of them with the exception of eggs and hand are probably underexposed (I may be wrong since the monitor I'm now using for borwsing is far from perfect).

The eggs, well, the shadows cast to the front creates quite interesting perspective, it's bit strange but interesting.

Why do you call the witholding of money dishonest?  Didn't you read the TOC's before you signed up?  It's clearly stated there.  If you disagreed, you didn't have to join.  And DT isn't the only agency with this policy.

I'm not sure if the word dishonest is the right one. It was repeated in this thread several times that "others do it". That's true. But really, it has nothing to do with if it is right or not.

While I fully understand the reasons behind having a pay out limit (to not have to micromanage very little payments), I don't see clear reason behind not paying out someone who is closing their account.

Yes, they state it clearly in the agreement, so from this point of view, it is 100% honest.

My understanding of subscription price is that it really doesn't matter for the customer what size they download (they are charged against the submission the same unit). So why would they download a smaller size? The only reason could be their actual MBs.

I am with StockXpert about 12 days or so and just 2 sales with 300 images. Probably I have to wait a bit. What do you think?

I think you will get much more than that. I've now 4 sales this month with approx. 30 photos. And I think your stuff will in general get more attention sales.

With my limited experience I would think it is really about getting the traffic, files seems to jump once they get downloaded and jump up for a moment in the search.

One thing we figured out after twiddling bits on a few images for a while was that there is some type of hidden ratings systems that the Inspectors must apply.

Were these pictures of one contributor? I would think that there are many other options that may be used as criteria during the best match. On of them may be the author rating computed on based on various things.

Well obviously.  Best match is just a sort method applied after the keyword match search.  Same as "most downloads","age", etc.

It may be bit complicate than that. Not sure if it applies on MS as well but I would guess so.

In general, you may be searching using more keywords than just one. If you don't specify that the result must contain only entries having all keywords (most search engines have a way to do this by say using + sign but on default they return results that match just one of you keywords). So you may end up with say 10 entries having all the keywords, 10 entries having one less than that and so on.

How do you sort this when you want to apply other criteria such as views, downloads, ratings? One option is to give the keyword match the absolute priority. In this case you would be right. However it is not the only option and I would believe that in fact the sort by best match actually depends on how many keywords from the search you matched and that this mixes with other criteria that applies during the mix.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Megapixels going UP.......

I'm always surprised to see this MP war in DSLR area. I understand why they do it in PSs. People buy those without knowing much. And the more MP you have on the flashy sticky thing on your camera, the more  buyers you will get.

Much more educated buyers go for DSLRs, so I don't think anyone is really looking for more pixels they would have to pay for with IQ.

Helix7, I don't think the choice of those poor images on the left with the boy on the right was accidentally bad. There was an attempt to express something with the messed graphics. I just don't see what exactly they were trying to say, probably that you need better images than that.

Now, I'm not saying that I like the advert or that I understand it. However I don't think the broken keyword could have make it into costly advert like this just by accidental poor selection of images.

So far they does not seem to head anywhere. They are seem to be just collecting images. They have strong name behind them, so they will probably start to put some effort into getting sales as well.

I like the original picture the most. It is the most pleasant one for my eyes and from designers point of view it is the most usable (as it may be transformed into whatever I could need). In the same time I understand why that most colourful version could be of most interest to SS. It is their policy (and successfull one).
