New Sites - General / Re: Pocketstock... something, anything? Where are we at?« on: August 05, 2012, 11:01 »
I just tried to make a "bid" on a Yuri image at Pocketstock which is sold at about $17,50 for a mid-size. I placed a "bid" at $9 dollar, saying that the same image can be found much cheaper at 123rf and my "bid" was accepted. So thats almost a 50% discount. Maybe next time I should try to bid for $6.

Also, if it catches on and photographers have to respond to every "bid", it will become a huge waste of time.
Its bothersome enough that Dreamstime keeps sending requests for RAW formats or EL licences that I have not uploaded or checked on purpose. 204

"bidder" sounds to a as another way of "we just sell your images cheaper"...
And for the "no credits system": It probably does not solve the credit card fraud problem... 205

Dreamstime.com / Why we should remove our Dreamstime affiliate links« on: July 13, 2012, 13:12 »
Lee Torrens posted a blog article on why he should removed all his Dreamstime affiliate links and why we all should do the same:
http://www.microstockdiaries.com/why-i-removed-my-dreamstime-referral-links.html Long story short: The commissions for the affiliate spreader will be taken from the photographers share, not from the agency share now. Based on that I removed all my Dreamstime affiliate links, because it seems unfair that a photographer earns less if I referred him instead of him signing up without my help. What do you think? Update: I postet a short article on my blog about removing my affiliate links as well: http://www.alltageinesfotoproduzenten.de/2012/07/14/warum-ich-meine-referal-links-zu-dreamstime-entfernt-habe/ 209
General Stock Discussion / Re: Do you have Make-up and Hair on your shoots?« on: July 13, 2012, 08:44 »
So far I haven't worked with Hair & Makeup artists.
I had some enquires of some MUA who wanted to work with me, but it was mostly not the price that stopped me from trying but the time they need. The last MUA I asked said she would need about 2 hours for 3-4 people to make them ready for a stock shooting. So I would not only have to pay the MUA for her work but also add 2 hours for each model which I need to pay, so the whole shooting would suddenly become much more expensive. 210

What a pity. I found it quite helpful to track commission changes and other stuff stock agencies don't want people to remember...

General Stock Discussion / Re: DT and FT - What are they thinking???« on: June 17, 2012, 11:21 »It's pretty clear that both sites are punishing top sellers because they make too much money when their best selling images sell. General Stock Discussion / Re: Analysis - Which picture agencies are used most in magazines« on: June 14, 2012, 07:02 »
@Shady: In the more expensive womens magazines there are usually some fashion stories with custom shots, 2-3 articles (cover story) with custom shots and the rest is Getty and other stock agencies though microstock is on the rise their as well, but mainly for little fill images.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Analysis - Which picture agencies are used most in magazines« on: June 11, 2012, 10:17 »
@ShadySue: Yes, I did one two episodes with many "low cost" women's magazines. The higher price women's magazines (also covered in my analyses) are Brigitte, Freundin and Petra and they generally use more expensive images.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Are your best sellers the same on most sites?« on: April 16, 2012, 11:13 »
My images are different, but mainly form similar shots, so the difference for each site might be small differences in search algorithms that pushes other images to the front thus more buyers see them first.

Hallo,
