Canva / Re: More ''Good news'' from Canva :-/
« on: October 10, 2019, 02:41 »
I didn't really follow what's happening at Canva. First look at the stats shows that my income dropped like 500% between March and June and stayed at that level.

Is that only my case or have others experienced the same?

It is no wonder that revenue drops when they invite customers to use over 1 million new free images.

The "free images" offer started in May 2019.

Ok, so I guess that started around that time ?

April $.08
May $.16
June $.19
July $.19
August $.22

Strange, I get exactly the same RPD numbers you quote, but for one month later, so from May to September.
There seems to be an error with assigning the correct month at Canva?

Great analysis Robert. How confident are you in the results you see in the Sales page though - whenever I click to a new month (and September 2019 isn't there in the drop down) I see different figures and image sales for multiple different months in the details.

The interface seems to be really screwed up in terms of what it is showing and the figures don't match what I have been putting into my spreadsheets each month using the older interface.

Steve

In my Canva account "September 2019" is shown in the dropdown, see screenshot attached.
The numbers from Canva are off compared to my excel sheet as well, but only to a maximum of about 2-3 USD, so that might be "refused credit cards" or so.

I did an in-depth analysis of my first Canva Photos Unlimited earnings and sales in my blog:
https://www.alltageinesfotoproduzenten.de/2019/10/09/canva-unlimited-ernuechternde-analyse-der-ersten-umsaetze/
(it's German, but should translate well with Google Translate)

but the classic worst recently was a guy with a GoPro, driving down the street in Saigon or someplace similar, shooting time lapse through the windscreen, and uploading each as an individual image. They are fuzzy and terrible, but also hundreds if not thousands of images. I doubt that he will get more sales than if he had taken 2 good shots and uploaded them.

do you have a link to that portfolio?

33
Well, Adobe and Pond always read it in, which is probably why I was thinking SS did too.  Ech.  Extra carpal tunnel.

Read it in from what? What tool and video format do you use?

They read them in from the embedded IPTC metadata, just like from photos.
You can add these metadata to video for example via Adobe Bridge (right click on a video and choose "Properties".

Not sure what it means for people considering starting in 2019 as far as how hard it is now versus a decade ago to climb those ranks if you build a large portfolio. I'm guessing it's harder now :)

I would certainly think so as well.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Microstock vs. Unsplash
« on: June 05, 2019, 11:11 »
Now that there is advertising on the Unsplash site do the photographers realise they've been taken for fools? I'd laugh, but it's not funny.

With the cost of Unsplash, hard to believe that it will stay free for a very long time ...
But, Where did you see advertising?

source : https://medium.com/unsplash/what-does-unsplash-cost-in-2019-f499620a14d0

Thanks for the interesting link.
I did some analysis of where the money at Unsplash comes from here, in German though (Google Translate might help):

Thank you ! Very interesting analysis
Your article gives ideas to write a statistical analysis of all ShutterStock portfolios.

Yes, please, that would be very interesting to compare.
Please send me a link when you have something online or drop me a link when you need help analyzing.

Wow, wow! Thank you for sharing this!

Can you please check how many contributors with "Anzahl Ranking (Smaragd bis Diamant)" come from Slovenia?

Thank you again!

hello Stockmaan, there are 7 contributor from Slovenia who have reached Emerald ranking and two who reached Saphire ranking.

Adobe Stock / Statistical analysis of Adobe Stock portfolios
« on: June 05, 2019, 09:13 »
Hello,

I have published an article with an in-depth statistical analysis of all Adobe Stock portfolios, you can read it here in my blog:
https://www.alltageinesfotoproduzenten.de/2019/06/05/analyse-der-portfolios-bei-fotolia-und-adobe-stock/

It's in German though, but the numbers speak for itself and Google Translate might help as well.

Best regards,
Robert

I did you the "support" email. Also I had to quote the first three letters of my password as proof and other shenanigans.
Send the email with notice of receipt, and ask for a reply.

If it does not help, please contact me via email, if you want to go public.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock took my money away

Mat, this evening I was credited with a subscription sale at $66. Is that a recurrence of the error or a valid royalty amount?

Also, I do not see adjusted amounts in the Adobe Stock contributor interface. The original sales show with their higher (unadjusted) royalties and there is no entry for an adjustment amount. The adjustments do show up in the Fotolia contributor interface.

That is a valid royalty amount Jo Ann.

Mat, when will the deductions be shown in the acitivity statistics in the Adobe Stock backend?

I deleted my account after that there.

How did you do that? I tried for several months, sending emails with all the info required for account closure described in the FAQ, but never got a reply or any action.

That way described in the FAQ worked for me (I required an reply email as confirmation). I was being a pain in their butts though, because I blogged about their business shenanigans several times, so it was probably welcomed by them to get rid off me.

If you want, we can make it public as well, just send me an email (see my contact info on my website) and we can work on the details.

Clipdealer is notorious for years for not paying out contributors on time.
Read more about it in my Blog in German (might need to use Google Translate):
https://www.alltageinesfotoproduzenten.de/2017/02/20/auszahlungen-schwierig-bei-der-bildagentur-clipdealer/

Last time I had to issue a court order to get them to pay and other photographers reported the same.
I deleted my account after that there.

Some people report that they got reply from Adobe Stock support who says the problem was active during February 6th-13th.

This means it was running eight days without anybody noticing?

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock took my money away

This is an accounting nightmare.

I am also affected, BUT I cannot see the deductions in my Adobe Stock backend. Only on the Fotolia backend, but even there I cannot see the images affected.
I need to share revenues with my team, so this is terrible.

Wasn't Shutterstock the agency that forbids images of animal in clothing, even if they are only photoshopped?

And now they make ads with dogs in suits?

More about this tax issue here (in German though):
https://www.alltageinesfotoproduzenten.de/2018/12/12/steuerproblem-bei-adobe-stock-behoben-wie-bekomme-ich-eine-erstattung/

Seems like you have to ask for a refund.

My views increased about 400% as well, starting on September 9th...
Sales are regular, no anomalies there.
