Never said that. I wrote: .... Iran is very attractive in summer if you wrap your wife up well from top to bottom. Alluding to veiled women and the new friendship with Russia, as I have already repeatedly made clear. In Pakistan, I myself have seen in the nineties men throwing stones at women who were dressed more modernly and without headscarves. I don't like that. If you like it, go ahead. But don't keep misquoting me. 128
Off Topic / Re: This should settle some different opinions« on: December 11, 2023, 15:56 »That's exactly right. Democracy is truly in danger when people who consider themselves democrats want to decide who can speak and what can be said. Please read through this stuff before you make any comments. I even agree with you about the Eu administrative apparatus. But that wasn't the point. A critic of the system is allowed to speak out here in Germany within the framework of freedom of opinion, in Russia you would end up in prison for it. That was the statement. Period. I didn't mention the EU or the USA in a single sentence. 129

In Russia, you are supposed to go to prison for expressing a critical opinion. Ganser is allowed to appear everywhere here, spread his opinion and sell his books. Yes, that's what you call democracy. 130

Off Topic / Re: This should settle some different opinions« on: December 11, 2023, 02:04 »Just another differing opinion from a Swiss historian Dr. Daniele Ganser: Die USA und der Ukrainekrieg (Basel 2.9.2023) Ganser is a star of the conspiracy theorist scene. Admittedly very eloquent and psychologically sophisticated. Incidentally, Ganser also trivialises the Holocaust and spreads crude theories about corona. The man makes a living from it. The man is very impressive insofar as he works very subtly and manipulatively. 132
Adobe Stock / Re: Review time« on: December 10, 2023, 14:08 »Adobe have serious issues which are preventing them from reviewing images in under a month and preventing them from not rejecting a whole batch at once, hopefully they sort their business methods out next yearIt's ridiculous. Adobe has no problem, they sell, and don't need validation of new images to make a profit. On the other hand, yes, some contributors have problems not having a growing portfolio, to represent something other than a micro drop in an ocean of images. The introduction with ridiculous is of course always a good argument and a good start for a discussion at eye level. Many of my pictures are now in their third month on hold. Summer landscapes and cityscapes from Holland that are not yet represented at Adobe and are doing well at other agencies. 133

Did I insult Croatians because you are one? No. I focused on the topic. 135
Off Topic / Re: This should settle some different opinions« on: December 08, 2023, 13:17 »Sure, you want genocide statements from UN sources, WHO, Doctors without Borders, Amnesty International or any other human right association claiming Israel is committing a genocide and aiming children ? Completely irrelevant. I could now quote other experts who see it differently - but that's a waste of time. On topic. You simply claimed that several aid organizations you named accuse Israel of genocide as you see it. I caught you bungling and now you're pulling new sources out of your hat as a matter of course. 136
Off Topic / Re: This should settle some different opinions« on: December 08, 2023, 13:00 »We all remember how the terrorists screamed about the destroyed hospital, but in fact it turned out that the hospital was not destroyed, the rocket did not hit the building but the road, and the rocket was fired by the terrorists themselves. I don't want to play down the suffering of the civilian population in general. But this alleged hospital shelling was a prime example of HAMAS propaganda. Nightly real video of a hospital from which fire and smoke seem to be rising. HAMAS: Israel shelled the hospital, at least 500 - 600 dead, mostly children. The usual pictures of fathers carrying their dead and injured children. Testimonies in front of piles of corpses. To be on the safe side, a heartbreakingly long interview with an alleged doctor who had to climb over heaps of dead children on the children's ward to save 2 children at the risk of his life. The next day in daylight you see a completely intact hospital, only a few cars in the central parking lot have crashed and burned due to a misguided missile part. 137

The situation is already catastrophic enough, so why is it necessary to spread false reports? If it's your opinion that genocide is being committed here, then so be it. However, I know of no official statement from the WHO or Doctors Without Borders as organization accusing Israel of genocide or the targeted killing of children. The fact that war crimes are possibly being committed here or the reference to a humanitarian disaster is something else, but not genocide. 138

Fell free to support it, but f..k off from my right to speak the truth. 50% of people they killed were children and that's a genocidal plan. [/quote] The truth is one of those things. I really thought about whether I should write something here. But somehow I can't help myself.
It looks really nice and peaceful in Russia in winter. If I were Ukrainian now, I'd find a post like this a pretty good kick in the balls. Merry Christmas to Russia then 141
Off Topic / Re: This should settle some different opinions« on: December 06, 2023, 03:00 »Hamas not only wants to wipe out the state of Israel, but all Jews worldwide. This is announced genocide before all eyes. You could have simply written that you disagree. Here are 2 excerpts from the HAMAS Charta: Preambel: "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it." Articel 13: "[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement... Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of Islam... There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility." Doesn't exactly sound like a declaration of love or a peaceful two-state solution. I admit that it is disputed among experts whether the charta is merely anti-Zionist or anti-Semitic. I hadn't previously realised that Croatians hated Germany so much. Some of your remarks, including your choice of words, are really low class. 142

Wow, no arguments and a lot of strong words, which you obviously do not understand, in one sentence (Genocide, ethnic cleansing, Zionist terrorists) - but not a word about the events on October 7. Not a word about the fact that Hamas not only wants to wipe out the state of Israel, but all Jews worldwide. This is announced genocide before all eyes. If the more than 1000 Hamas fighters had attacked military facilities in Israel, then that would still be somehow explainable in the overall conflict. However, the barbaric acts of October 7 are not. When I started in this thread, I claimed that you can't lump all Russians together. In the meantime, I hope that all travel restrictions for Europe will remain in place for the next few decades. But North Korea is said to have cool surf locations and Iran is very attractive in summer if you wrap your wife up well from top to bottom. 143

Today's events are not about the history of the last centuries, but about the events of October 7, 2023. Here is a good summary of the events. I saw many of the videos mentioned, most of which have since been removed, myself on the weekend in question. https://twitter.com/SpencerGuard/status/1731761693737308427 145
General Stock Discussion / Re: Using stock photos in sensitive content, what is too much?« on: December 03, 2023, 12:20 »Hello, I am certainly not a proven expert in this field and do not have a complete overview of the market. But first of all, I see it as a completely normal product. Here in Germany, it is advertised discreetly in the normal media. There are also special Advent calendars before Christmas - and there's no chocolate in them. I would see this unusual use with a sense of humor. These products are certainly politically correct and I do not see the content offensive in any way. 146
Adobe Stock / Re: Similars policy« on: November 30, 2023, 13:41 »My favorite bit of advise and I know a small number of us have hammered this since the start: Focus on finding content gaps. Create what isn't there, but should be. And when in doubt make something stupid that isn't needed or anywhere on site, it might sell? But either of those are better than duplicating most popular or hundreds of similar new variations of something that's already on the site, by the thousands. Pete, well summarized and that is ultimately my motto too. That's why I don't photograph Christmas baubles every year, my seasonal bestseller every year looks like this: 147
Shutterstock.com / Re: What a cool SS, how well he sells« on: November 30, 2023, 11:42 »Strangely, even though I have images from many remote countries such as Namibia, Nepal, Burma, etc., my best-sellers are all from my hometown, Quebec City, or Montreal or the Quebec province. Of course, I can only speak for myself, but I have exactly the same experience. Pictures from my surroundings work much better than my long-distance travel pictures from exotic places. On the one hand, I put this down to the fact that the competition is much smaller here, where demand is obviously high. I also think that I deliver better quality on location, only take pictures in good weather conditions and can offer different seasons. Burma hasn't worked for me at all since 2021. And congratulations on your sale, triple digits on Shutterstock is not that common. 148
Off Topic / Re: I will never use AI« on: November 29, 2023, 14:24 »
Steve, now we're getting more into the philosophical level For example, if the AI regularly displays the Apple logo in a realistic form, then it is a copy. Apparently, AI is not capable of creating its own Apple logo. If I now have a rare, unrivaled landscape image or an object in my portfolio, the AI has no choice but to copy it too 149

I can't confirm this for myself, my income situation was relatively constant in this period.
However, I have to admit that with over 1000 uploads I would have expected an increase over the year, especially as the new pictures are doing quite well. |
