Hi Anita, I'm sending you a message to see if I can help. It should be a pretty quick fix with the base child theme provided.

plrang, I think you are talking about the default child theme, you are correct that would not be affected. This thread is referring to a custom child theme called Clean Theme. If you have Jetpack installed on your site you can customize a theme or child theme by adding CSS, I've done a tutorial here: http://www.creativembers.com/customizing-a-symbiostock-child-theme/ but as noted, you should always save a back up of your CSS edits. These can just be pasted into a text file locally, but as with the main site the number one rule when dealing with web stuff is back up everything you can. I haven't installed the newest version yet but I plan to upgrade the Clean Theme test site to 2.2.8 tomorrow and get to work on a few improvements. I put the development on hold until we are out of Beta since things were changing so quickly. Cathy, sorry for your trouble with the custom stuff getting deleted. I checked you site just now and it looks good, I guess you got it all put back? I'm curious as to what you are changing since I am considering adding a color picker to the admin panel. Can you send me a quick note when you get a chance and let me know?

Hmmm, I have seen a few people who have added a new category called "All Images" and added everything (which you can do with bulk editing) but I'm not sure I'd recommend it as it may cause performance or memory issues depending on how many images we are talking about. However I could be totally wrong I'll look into it though!

Hi there! This is a built in WordPress function that you can create in your admin panel under Appearance -> Menus. It's actually easiest to show you so give me about 10 minutes and I'll post a quick video or some screen shots. Edit: http://www.creativembers.com/symbiostock-tip-menus/ A quick visual guide in case anyone else runs into this.

Is that a challenge?

From Leo and others hopefully The greatest part about an open source project is that anyone can contribute (and should where we can!) tons of opportunities there, for sure. It's good that there are other options I've been watching this one as well, but for now I'm more interested in the community aspect and network search of Symbiostock.

You should go for it! Haven't quite figure out Vimeo links yet, but you can see a super quick over view of install where Leo linked or go to: www. vimeo.com/66218389 and I'll be uploading one with a walk through of installing the theme tonight with a few tips. Looking for ideas so if you get stuck at anywhere send me a message.

As an illustrator also I really like Canstock, it's usually top 4 for me.

Did you get the graphic? If not I can get to it today!

Personally, I couldn't do business without using 4 or 5 of the core Adobe apps every day so for me this makes a lot of sense. I subscribed 7 months ago and I'm absolutely loving it. New features and fixes added to Illustrator in real time? Yes please! I also really enjoy getting to use the new products under development particularly the new web/mobile development tools. I think if you are using a technology professionally it really pays to be keeping up with current tools and best practices.
At first I was very wary of the idea of "renting" software, but my experience so far has changed my mind. This model definitely has an audience that it makes sense for, but I do think they should be offering some more flexible option for people who don't want the latest and greatest or an ongoing cost.

Thanks for that Reef, needed a laugh. As far as design goes remember that less is more Less color on your page shows off your images better. Take good look at the image pages in particular on the big sites and see how neutral everything around the image tends to be.

This is just a wild theory and my be way off the mark, but when Google image search did their last big overhaul one of the things they tweaked was to show less "adult' content in image search. I know on my own small sites a good portion of traffic comes through image search so I assume it has some effect for the big sites as well.
I made a point of going back through and deleting the key words sexy or adult (I used to always use adult, child, senior etc for appropriate ages) wherever I found them with goal of making sure all of my images would show in the safest search settings. Maybe Shutterstock is trying to give the newer images a better chance to appear in Google image search by making sure they don't have those trigger keywords unless it's in fact an "adult" image.

Hi Cathy, thanks for the screenshot, I'm going to see if I can track this down tomorrow. I will have an update on the menu area I'm working on to improve the responsiveness too so I'll tackle this and see if we can straighten it out at the same time!

You might want to check if you put the "http://" before the link where you enter it in Foobar? Usually that issue happens when it's missing the http. Let me know if that works!

Hi Chris, Google Images is a separate index with a separate bot so it doesn't necessarily index images at the same time your pages get indexed. In the past I've seen it take between 10 and 15 days for the images to start being indexed after sitemaps where submitted. I'd do some searching around to see what's normal but I know others are seeing images show up so I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

@Chico, I think I found the whitespace issue! It looks like the slider you've used isn't adjusting height responsively, the height is set at 300px and stays that way on all screens. The issue with the search on the base theme is that is too wide (at least for a phone screen) when the drop down is included and has a default property that prevents it from wrapping (this is actually in the Boostrap css,) What I did here was use some of the built in media queries to make it wrap nicely on a small screen like the phone, but I may have to adjust for people removing that part. I know Leo is looking forward to other people contributing where we can and making it more of a community effort, that's the great part about open source! If I find an even better way to handle the search on all screens I'll contribute it for use in the base theme and if you have any ideas when you start messing with it please feel free to jump in! The more the merrier

Hmmm, I'm not sure whats going on with that space, it's not appearing on the demo site so maybe something that was added in the side bar. For fun, I did a screen shot of the demo site on my iPhone vs the preview on the Studiopress site, attached. Just a note, if you remove the drop down in the menu with CSS it will cause issues, so it's best to do it through the actual search template's php. It seems like people want this out in general so I may just make it a feature? Reef, I'm open to tips on making things more responsive, (menu update is already in the works) I've tried to make sure it looks nice enough on a phone or an iPad that a designer would want to check it out more thoroughly.

Chico that looks awesome!
That responsive testing site is cool but it's not entirely accurate. I have an iPhone and the search bar doesn't really wrap like that on a screen that size. It's also been tested on an iPad and a couple of Galaxy android phones.
The responsiveness could probably still use a bit of work, I do plan to upgrade the menu in the future. Beyond that I don't know if I plan on getting super detailed with responsiveness for tiny screens since realistically most designers searching for images aren't going to be working on their phones.
Edit: Did you take out your menu drop down with CSS? Also the graphics in your home page side bar don't show on small screens. Can you send me a message with your edits and I'll see if we can get it working?

Steve, sounds like you have some pretty interesting things you are thinking of adding! Maybe you could build anything like that as a plug in?

Hi Phil, thanks! I'll have to check the store, I'm in Canada myself so I know it's an option but a couple of people from other countries purchased with no problems so I think it may just localize for everyone! I don't want to disable the search in the main theme since some people may want it, but what I can do easily is add a "twin" version of the theme with drop down removed as an option. I'll get that put together as a freebie to anyone who purchased it already. I can email you the download link as soon as I have it set up. Customizing a Child Theme - TUTORIALhttp://www.creativembers.com/customizing-a-symbiostock-child-theme/On another note, since some people asked if you are going to customize the theme further there is a way to do this without touching the child theme code so you'll be able to save between updates. Please see the tutorial linked above and comment with any questions!

I think the other two might just be benefiting from just being more professional looking and visually interesting. #104 in particular has much nicer fonts and better use of the colors leaf picked. Just my opinion.

You can turn on the ability to approve or moderate comments before they show publicly on your site. (Check under settings, Reading I think.) It might help. Also when we all start making lots of sales...do yourself a favor and get Askimet! It is absolutely worth it to not have to worry about Spam.
