Average month for IS , with RPD ~0.47. Could not be bothered to look at details, just get depressed looking at Connect "sales".
Consistently now outperforming SS for several months though

Interesting you mention AS for your best shots. I only got an EL at Adobe when I pursued it myself (because some commercial company bought at low rates and I discovered my photos in their commercial website). And an EL gives you only so much money at Adobe. Why choose them while on SS or IS or Alamy (apparently) you could get so much more?
Good question. AS gives me consistent RPD over 1 and EL's most every month. But large part for me is respecting the work On IS 15% or fraction of a penny just doesn't feel right when you know you have good shot & invest almost an hour post-processing in Photoshop every detail. Similar with SS not even because of 10 cents, but because of AI rejections of perfectly well exposed and technically sound images which made me stop uploading there completely. Again everyone must find what works best for them and this is not related just to $$ amount.

one thing, the image is special in being one of only 6 in the whole databank, and clearly the better one.
also so much for the Alamy purist that having your image across various Stock telling you that client will go search it also on SS and go and buy it for 10 cents (sic!) there.
Alamy purism is very interesting discussion debated many times & there are arguments both ways ("is it better to sell image 1 time for 100$ or 100 times for 1$" ?). Couple of yrs ago Alamy customer inquired about an image they wanted for book cover. They were willing to pay $999, but were interested to know if image was available elsewhere. I replied honestly and did not get a sale. Over the last yr I shifted my overall strategy and am uploading what I consider better shots to Alamy and AS only. That "book cover prospect" image would today be uploaded to Alamy only. But everyone must find what works best for them & it is at least to a degree related to type of work they do

Congratulations! That's awesome! Fingers crossed that the customer doesn't request a refund in 5 months. That's always my greatest worry with bigger Alamy sales, especially when you already had payout and spent the money.
Thank you. Thought has crossed my mind & even if not pessimist by nature I am inclined to think this will not stick. 4 digit figure for single frame on 20.2 megapixel sensor won't yield large print. We shall see. Will post an update here

Didn't think this was possible anymore. It must be some sort of mistake? If not, thank you Alamy. This, even if rare, is what separates you from everyone else What is the image that sold for almost 2 grand? Nothing special - Iron Mountain trailhead in Poway, California Took it for personal hiking website & since it turned out well, uploaded for stock. It is quite sound technically (Canon EOS 6D, 24-105L lens at 24mm, F8 1/125 exposure). Now looking at page I did for the hike https://autumnsky.zenfolio.com/usa/san-diego/iron-mountain, pic is not even included as I thought others were better. Will probably wake up tomorrow and see it gone. But it feels good now

Nobody (human person) reviewed your image. This is all AI. Same as SS, but DT threshold is very low so 99.99% of images pass, while SS threshold is quite high so lots of perfectly exposed and technically sound images get rejected. Write-up is generic text someone composed & AI software then just dumps it in email message. My only DT rejection this year is: AI figured it was recognizable person and rejected. I didn't bother to submit as editorial as AS accepted it as RF & I think image has sale potential as such. It's all getting quite ridiculous with AI these days; we are playing the game to outsmart the software which is all wrong IMHO

That's not my experience with DT. I have pretty constant downloads there, usually daily. But they are in 99,99% cases just 0.35$, so it doesn't add up to much.
I've been with them 4 yrs now and it's been consistently what I described (2 weeks off, 3-4 DL's next day, then again many days off). So it's good to see other people experience. Totally agree 0.35 doesn't add to much anyways. Still better than 0.10, or fraction of a penny elsewhere.

DT has this round-robin portfolio promoting scheme. You can go couple of weeks without single 35 cents download, then next day have 4 or 5, then again nothing for over a week.
As experiment last month I contributed couple of photos for their "Vertical" assignment. Shots have to be exclusive, and in return they promote it to level five. I was curious if this will mean something - not a sniff. Winner (extraordinary image btw) has 3 downloads so far

Pete - bottom line is every agency is free to use whatever model they want. Personally I find the simpler the better. This is why ultra convoluted and unnecessary IS managed dictionary is the worst IMHO. AS in other hand took minimalist approach, which is in line with overall UI philosophy of their products. Too minimalist perhaps
Forums like this are good though for us to exchange information and learn things. I am happy to share whatever I found playing with my port, regardless of fact that it might help direct 'competition'

Pete - this is conclusion I made based on Alamy Measures when photo gets returned in search for search term I had in title, but not in keywords. Since keywords are obviously 2 level (10 super then rest) it is logical to assume title might have the heaviest weight for search engine. It also fits overall Alamy model where phrases are not supported, in other words title string is parsed and indexed as array of individual words
It is interesting to note how different agencies treat indexing; IS does not index title/description at all, neither does AS. DT on the other level puts by far the heaviest weight on Title, then Description. I believe SS indexes title and supports phrases, but does not have "super" tags like AS (first 10) and Alamy. IS on the other hand has this "managed dictionary" which is IMHO as wrong as it gets. But IS will index tag that is not recognized, at least this is what their support told me once. So for instance if "landscape" is not recognized and they want you to pick "landscape - scenery" instead - don't bother. Just "landscape" will get indexed fine.

Great post nazlisart & agreed with everything you said
One thing about Alamy: They index the heaviest image title, then 10 super tags, then the rest. So picking for super tags words that are already in the title is redundant. Most Alamy uploads can be fully described with title + 15-20 tags only, so inventing 40 tags just to satisfy discoverability criteria is not really necessary.

February RPD
SS: 0.253 IS: expect 0.25 - 0.35 range DT 0.533 AS: 1.247 AL: 15.829 (net)
These numbers are probably self explanatory. Yesterday had SS On Demand for 0.23 (!) AS and AL are only 2 agencies worth contributing to at the moment IMHO

Ann, yes most sales I had this month were zoomed at some point of time; it is known sometimes it takes awhile between zoom/download and time when sale is posted (and then even more till sale is cleared; but this is because Alamy model is different from traditional subscription based microstock)
btw I find Alamy "measures" tool quite useful, specially in term of keywords used for search

And 7th sale of Feb popped in on last day, $75 gross Which brings monthly total to $277 gross; 39.57 RPD gross, or 15.83 net. Might be anomaly that will be hard to repeat, but for the first time in over a year someone has beaten AS in terms of monthly earnings

Just had 6th February sale. "Only" $20, but it brings monthly total over $200. This never happened before in 4yrs I've been with them. Port of ~2000 stills with 1-2 sales / month on average, but this month 6. Things like this just make you feel good, not because of $ but because of work that got recognized. Like someone said above, Alamy is hit and miss & it is easy to loose faith when you don't get anything for awhile. My honest suggestion is to persist & not close your account; just keep uploading high-end unique content & it will pay off eventually.

I got two more sales on Alamy today, $32 each ("Poland, calendar") which brings February to $182 (gross) on rather modest port size of ~2000 images. Everyone naturally needs to make their own decisions, but I'm happy to stay with Alamy & keep uploading.

It always has been feast or famine at Alamy.
That really sums it up. Whole December I had 1 sale for 0.15 gross (6 cents net!). Now in February 3 already of which last one popped up today - $104. Country: United Kingdom Usage: Editorial, Educational poster Media: Educational wallchart/posters 30 MB 3953 x 2636 pixels 1 MB compressed Start: 17 February 2022 Duration: Unlimited So Alamy is worth uploading, but it's like Forest Gump Box of Chocolates. I really hope they find the way to nix large sub penny sales, it simply puts bad stamp on everything

"figha" = high five?
AS is respectful to contributors. Yes, UI is lacking, promotion of new content could probably be higher, yes this or that could be improved, but overall AS is now leading by a mile compared to others. I stopped uploading to SS, not so much because of 10 cents, but because of senseless AI rejections that just make your work feel devalued. Most people just look for fairness and transparency, and AS gives that at least for now. (And yes, sales are great, but these 2 things are interconnected).

Agree with Ralf. Only thing sure is that Alamy is now Microstock. I actually feel bad as I always considered Alamy beacon of light shining above micro swamp. Largest single DL I had anywhere was on Alamy ($292 gross). But signs were there; drop from 60% to 50% to 40% (20% looming for many), and now large subscription packages, not just in China. I really hope they find way to sustain business, keep serious photographers satisfied & prices respectful.

Some of these low sales are subscriptions ("750 Bilder per Monat"). It would mean 0.2 x 750 = 150$ per month for 750 downloads. Did Alamy offer subscriptions before?

Get Microstockr and you will have lifetime earnings for each photo (total, per agency, per year, etc)
Thank you. I am aware of microstockr, but was wondering if it was possible with AS native interface. Their UI is quite minimalistic, which is inline with general UI company philosophy

2nd best month of the year on IS, and first time IS and SS are virtually even for the year. This is not due to IS rise, but SS decline. AS, with smaller port, more than IS and SS combined for the year

correlation is not causation - no evidence AS approach leads to greater sales - eg, my AS sales are consistently about 50% of SS, with same images uploaded, at same time, to both sites
It is also related to content type; certain image types sell better on some agencies. AS is by margin best performer for me in 21 even without free content promotion. There is correlation between search engine promotion and regular uploads, as well as promotion of content that is regularly selling. This is one of things I was referring to. btw Top 3 photos on AS in term of downloads - is there any way to find lifetime $$ amount? Insight interface allows only 12 months back

In January so far first 8 days my Adobe port, 30% smaller than SS port, earned 7x more. For calendar 2021 Adobe earned 2.5 times more compared to SS. This is not coincidence. The difference between Adobe and others is that Adobe has intellectual approach in how they structured this side of company business. They also respect contributors; Matt comes here and says what is going on, QA is fair and most DLs, for me at least, are 0.99 or more. Compare that to 0.00001 DL's on Getty, endless 10 cents SS Stream and now Alamy. And I won't even go into senseless AI rejections of perfectly well composed and technically sound stills, which is right down disrespectful.

Just when I thought my port was immune, 15 cents (x .4 = 6 cents) China "sale" pops up on on Dec 31 Race to the bottom gets whole new meaning
