Thanks to the incompetent idiots in charge, we're on our way to a recession.

I anticipate that many companies with either start downgrading or cancelling their microstock accounts from sites like SS and AS.

My SS sales has dipped in the last few weeks. Less big sales and less daily downloads.

Just brace yourselves for what's to come and stop supporting people who are economically illiterate.

It's funny how conservatives worldwide always claim recession and inflation are the fault of the current government and never based on the mistakes of the former one.

And funny that the Liberals in power always blame the former people, instead of the current government in power, for all the problems.

And funny how everybody is blaming someone else for something they did...

...they don't respect Biden, kinda like the rest of the world.
I can assure you, the 'rest of the world' (I can't speak for everyone, but from what I'm hearing and reading) respects Biden.
We didn't respect Trump, recognised him as an idiot ("does China have hurricane guns?") and couldn't imagine why anyone would vote for him.
I'd vote for Howling Laud Hope before I'd vote for Trump.

Trump is completely senile, always repreating the same old stuff over and over again. The GOP should find someone who is not completely corrupted or weird. Their party is cangrened with Qanon followers.. and russian trolls.

More a Covid/Putin/China recession... Covid for stopping worldwide production.. Putin for raising transport costs worldwide with higher energy cost (due to war).. and China for slowing down its economy with their "Strict 0 Covid" policy..

Inflation levels and oil prices were incredibly high before the war in Ukraine started. China only started the lockdown.

The US economy shrank by 1.4% in Q1 and it wasn't caused by China locking down. China's GDP went up by over 4% in the same time period.

The main cause of the situation is because of energy scarcity and uncontrolled spending. Both of which are caused by policies of the current administration. The war in Ukraine doesn't help, it's certainly not the main cause of it.

The highest inflation in 40 years is caused by the federal reserve printing money it doesn't have. Failure to hold the people in charge responsible is reason why we're in this situation. So let's not make excuses for incompetent people.

So, if you were the government.. what would you do ?

Stop spending so much money. Stop trying to stop domestic energy production.

Oil prices and Natural Gas spiked after we slowed down our own product of energy. This caused food prices to spike, along with everything else. It's self-inflicted inflation.

American Energy production was slowed down because it was not profitable anymore. Russia and the Saudis were in conflict and the oil prices went down. After the conflict, prices were rising slowly, and the american (and Canadian) producers were reluctant to risk losing money. Energy production depend on company profits, not on governments...

4

Of course, it's popular to blame Putin, but ask yourself this. Who caused the highest inflation in 40 years? Who caused oil prices to spike in the US before the Ukrainian war? That's your answer right there.

You seem to forget the last two years of Covid... Also don't forget that the federal reserve is independent from the government, so you have to blame one.. or the other.

And if you blame the federal reserve... President Trump was the one who hired their director (Jerome Powell) in 2017.

I think you didn't had your Nescafe today !!

Maybe your problem is the way you do things... Being aggressive, condescendant or childish never helps !! You probably must calm down a bit and explain things without being prejudgemental. And also, don't put everyone in the same bucket, everybody is looking for the truth. From one person to another, nobody has exactly the same informations, even you.. Respect other persons viewpoints, if you want them to do the same.

You have been brainwashed.

https://www.middleeasteye.net/opinion/russia-ukraine-war-western-media-cheerleaders

I think the problem is actually that you think the people you are arguing with have no knowledge of current affairs or history. You are bring things up about American imperialism and Western hypocrisy as if it is huge gotcha and no one has every heard about these things before.

What has this got to do with the people of Ukraine suffering right now? If you think these other issues also need attention then go make some noise about them elsewhere, why does it mean you cant also be concerned for the people of Ukraine? It isnt a team sport, these are actual human beings like you and those close to you being murdered or made homeless right now.

I dont think, I know they have no knowledge. I mention American imperialism and Western hypocrisy only because you seem to be a bunch of hypocrites. Be honest with yourself and others. Of course, the Russians are not innocent, but pretending that the Ukrainians are innocent is stupid. When the Russians were dying in Donbas, no one complained about this information. No one is sad for death of 14,000 innocent people. That's what I want to show you. What has this got to do with it...? Haven't you read the link? Don't you realize that much of the blame goes to American politics? Do you know what the Monroe Doctrine is? I feel sorry for every individual. If I had the power, I would end the war immediately and sit politicians at the negotiating table. And one more thing: I am for justice on all sides. I mentioned once that I dont like Russians too much. As a tourists Russians and Chinese are rude. I like Americans more. When they come in my country they are nice. When I was in USA I felt there as home. Why I'm telling you this? I'm trying to make you understand.

I have no problem. You have problems with others. You don't accept that some might think differently. You are childish, not me. I just put a mirror against your comments, that's it. And no, not everyone is looking for the truth. Next post under yours, read it. Prejudgemental - that's the word, indeed. I will respect others when others behave.

Yep, you're right, Fox News is definitively bias, provocation and unprofessionalism...

What is happening now in the western media is bias, provocation and unprofessionalism. This is especially true for Britain. I have never seen so much poison against the Russians. How did they not drown in that?

Remembered official quotation from past:

In November 1991, in her speech in Houston, ex-British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said that according to the estimates of the world community, it is economically feasible for only 15 million people to live in Russia.

Those. she proposed getting rid of 100 million people. There is no arguing with such bloodlust.

Why are the British so angry? Yes, because they were not allowed to quietly pump out resources from third countries. Have you forgotten what the development system of this country is based on? Remember her story. India, colonies, etc. Now they were given between their legs and kicked out of the Russian Federation.

Imagine, Russia has been cleansed of all Western trash: fast food, premium items and cars. Yes, thank you for this!

Off Topic / Re: where is inflation headed?
« on: March 08, 2022, 19:05 »
Wow, and I always taught the term "inflation" was used to describe something that was ... "inflated" !!!

I would make the difference between inflation and the normal price rises, caused by high demand or resource scarcity.

When the oil price is rising because of high demand during an economic boom, that's not inflation. When the oil price is rising because of scarcity (e.g. less Russian oil), that's not inflation.
Even when the prices are rising more globally, because of workforce scarcity (e.g. during the pandemic), that's just normal fluctuation, not inflation.

Inflation happens when the governments are running out of money, and they have to cover their costs and commitments through one form or another of "money printing".
Inflation takes time to manifest itself. It takes time for the "new" money to be passed from the national bank to commercial banks, then to big companies, then to smaller companies and employees, and ultimately to prices. And maybe only after that to those who rely on inflation-adjusted incomes.

The higher an organization is in this inflation chain, the more it benefits, because they get their hands on the "new" money before the prices had time to catch up with the money surplus.

In the USA, both the Trump and Biden administrations "printed" money like there was no end. Trump even more than Biden (so far). So what we see now is the consequence of that governmental spending spree, e.g. "real" inflation, on top of normal higher prices driven by scarcity of specific products and productive workforce.

We may recover from the "normal" component, but the money surplus is here to stay.

"Journalists are cheering on the arming of militias and civilians making improvised explosives acts they usually treat as terrorism"

Anyone in the world that do improvised explosives to defend their country from an invader has my respect... you use what you can to defend yourself. If your country was attacked, you would do the same..

A lot of russians are leaving their country through Finland, before their country goes back to what it was during communism.. a prison !!

Awful to punish Russian people and businesses simply because of their nationality. Plenty of Russians disagree with the war, but cancel culture seems to be normal nowadays.

In the Netherlands there are stories of Russian supermarkets being harassed, Russian children bullied at school, people on the street being yelled at because they 'look or sound Russian'. In fact, a woman from Moldova was scolded for speaking Romanian (which sounded Russian to the Dutchman who yelled at her). In their misguided anger, people have lost their minds.

Sometimes dictators are put in power with a coup, but unfortunately, sometimes they are elected (Ex: Putin, Trump). You just have to get rid of them ASAP !!

Lizard, I am not sure I am understanding what you are trying to say? That, in a democracy, whenever the elected government is making a decision for the country, the whole country was "forced" into that decision whenever there was no referendum? You don't seem to understand that referendums, while they are part of democracy, are extrenmely rare and just because there was no referendum about an issue (so in 99,99% cases) it doesn't mean a whole country was  "forced" into anything when a government that was rightfully elected by the people and given the authorities to make decisions for the people, actually makes a decision without asking every single person for their agreement.

Do you understand a statement : 'If you don't vote to enter EU, you will not get your pension"."
A pension for which people payed all their life and which is their property.
Do you understand that's a blatant blackmail with threat to take peoples property if they don't vote as instructed ? Do you understand that is totalitarianism and dictatorship at its best and has nothing to do with democracy.

Also in any law, an agreement signed under threat is not a legally valid agreement. An agreement signed using fraud or misleading is not a valid agreement. I can not force you to sell me your house for 5 Euros and if you sign that that's not a valid contract.

Do you also understand what constitution of a country is ? If constitution says referendum has to be held when entering international unions and +50% turnover is needed something to be valid, than 43% is a referendum that did not pass. Changing rules after to fix the result is a criminal act.

What do you personally think Putin will do when he's finished with Ukraine ?

I hope stock agencies will do action. Russian photographers should be banned.

Such idiotic statements I just can't believe it! Because of you I'm on Russian side now!

What??? How???

That's just about as idiotic a statement as the original one that launched this thread!

Keep calm Martha, you are bragging too much.

What about those Russians risking their lives protesting in Russia against the invasion? Should we punish them too?

Exactly!

And there might even be a courageous stock photographer or two in those crowds of protestors, all willing to risk their lives and freedom to speak truth to power. Someone is taking photos of the demonstrations, after all, and making them available world wide.

But whether they're in the crowd or not, people just like us do not deserve to have their livelihoods stripped away just because Putin is a callous, cruel madman.

Putin is holding NATO back and keep Russians safe. Just keep calm, take a breath and learn something new, ok?

Aha! Another Eastern European who can't stand a woman who has a brain and speaks her mind.

Yep, looks like we have another sexist in our midst. Sweet Zero has a buddy online, it seems. (The only one he has, unfortunately.)

No big surprise there.

I've never said you have a brain. And as it looks to me, you judge me and my thinking by my nationality? Hmmm, very intelligent.

I found some interesting old news from Times Magazine, speaking about this supposely dangerous nazi group. It's seems true that they exist, since the USA seems to have declared them as terrorist group. It might explain why russia would invade the dunbass, to protect russians there.

These groups tried to make a party, but only got 2% of votes in an election. So 98% of the population including the president (a jew) just don't follow them. Attacking a country and trying to change a government because of these people, is a little bit far fetched.

Furthermore, you have these kinds of people in most democracies, including the usa, france, uk & australia. And there, people just don't listen to their rhetorics..

We don't trust videos (from whatever sources), too easy to manipulate... give us historic links (in english, and not from russia) if you want us to believe something..

Check out this video, it'll explain everything:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtOx6dW_0vU

Wait, you don't trust videos, as you think they are too easily manipulated, but you will trust text? Like... what?

Let's hope for them they don't go back to do line-ups to buy bread, like it was during communism...

More than 70% of Russians are approving Putin's actions.
His approval rate went up during the war preparations and now and I'm reading that it went further up after the invasion!
 :o

So I'm afraid that this sensitive appeal made by BelieveInStock doesn't mean too much, under these circumstances.
It will be seen as "fake news" and "western propaganda" by a large majority.

Although I expect that some who approved Putin's invasion, may be afraid to speak up, especially now, when they crackdown on dissent harder than before.

Russian people are now trapped in their country, no more travel to Europe or America. Russia was in no danger at all, they have too many nuclear weapons for any country to attack them, it would simply be suicidal !! Putin just gave the proof, that every countries on their border, are right to incorporate NATO, you just can't trust a dictator !!!
