Steps taken here:

1) Make decision to close account.
2) Contact Zym to close account.
3) Promptly forget you closed your account.
4) Zym closes account.
5) wait 6 months.
6) try to log in to Zym

Zymmetrical.com / Zym was right!
« on: November 24, 2009, 23:37 »
Today I found that my account just disappeared from Zym. Cannot find any images, login gives "You are not currently authorized to login to this site."

Interesting thing that I tried to go there to make my mind - upload more or close the account. Looks like they nicely helped me to make the decision...

New Sites - General / StockPhotoPro - WTH?
« on: November 12, 2009, 19:31 »
Just found a lot of my images on their site. As they are sold by subscription only, it is quite possible they are there legally (e.g. partnership with some other site, though I could not find any exact match).

What bothers me - their copyright info. All my images say
Photographer Fotosearch Subscription

I know that there are a lot of people in this group who are pretty fluent in related laws. So my question is: even if the usage is legal, isn't such copyright notice a violation?

For still-life shooting you can add SB-600s to your SB-900 - not too expensive, and you'll avoid buying remote triggers

Kudos to all smart people trusting voting results of < 100 contributors.

I just went to voting and changed the list of big 6 with single vote (BigStock is now up and coming).

Standard Base          25 words             $0.88

In the same time, DT charges $0.40.

I do not know their keywording quality, but single try at DT was more than enough for me...

There is no big 4.

Funny! The biggest four are the big four. The biggest five are the big five. Etc., Etc., Now do you understand?

The biggest in what? Capital? Images? Buyers?

Very interesting to see these, especially right after yet another batch 13 of 15 rejected...

Newbie Discussion / Re: Sizing images for submission

If you are shooting with a 15MP camera you should not have to upsize to Alamy

I think you are wrong. 15MP = 45000000 bits (in 8 bit file) = 42.9 - 45 MB (depending on how they calculate megabytes, there are variations) - anyway less than they want

JFYI:
The only secure page on iSyndica is their login. All other site credentials are taken over open channels.

For me it means "We care about our security. Yours? Your problem". Honestly, I'd never trust somebody with such attitude, even if surface manifestation of this attitude will be fixed.

I am wondering, is it enough for the site to say "All sensitive information is recorded through secured SSL communication and dual-encrypted in our database" for people to give it complete trust?

Thanks!

This is exactly why I asked - I have no EL on this photo

It was funny. Saw something familiar while driving to work. Had to take a photo and check later for sure whether it was mine or not :)

The question I have - what type of license is required for this?

This should get a blast from the past award or something

Thanks for a message :)
I was going to reply to this thread - did not notice dates :)

I hope too (and also hope for sharing the details about his current hosting)

BTW, somebody took Chinese sites serving the virus down. This does not mean that they will not launch a new fleet and update Find again.

P.S 06.18 - they are back online :)

I think we have to request a site owner's public sepuku...

If the profile on the social network site is private, no way the Google bots can address the full-size picture. It's gone now but you can fine some other "happy families" unwatermarked on Google images, and as Tineye shows, it's a stock image.

Hmm, but who really needs un-watermarked? :)

It may be related to free cheese :)

Newbie Discussion / Re: How do you keep track of your images?
« on: April 29, 2009, 09:59 »
As an alternative you may want to try http://www.microstockgroup.com/microstock-services/volunteer(s)-needed/. Though the goal of this tool is to track accepted images, not submitted ones.
Sorry for "pimping", just want to make this tool useful not only for me, but (eventually) for everybody.

At first - a little history

I just wanted to be able to answer several questions about my portfolio:
- What are my best sellers across several sites?
- What decent earners at IS never got to SS (or vice-versa, or on other sites)?
- From early microstock days (or maybe not only early ones : ) I have a lot of "junk" sitting in my portfolios. How to find them, taking in account that some photos could be just overlooked by customers at particular site

I am too lazy to track manually  necessary for answering these questions stats, and none of existing tools could help.
Being a software developer in my "main" life, answer was obvious - develop my own tool. And there came additional "requirements" that lead to solution that potentially can benefit others:
- I want to be able to access this information from any computer, so it has to be web-based
- I do not have extra money to pay for hosting - I will be limited to free hosting/platforms, but this also means that I cannot store (or even log) _any_ sensitive information on the server, mainly - passwords. I.e. the solution has to be secure (for me, and I am pretty paranoiac).

After spending some time working on this I think I am ready to add couple beta (in reality - alpha) users to the site - at least to see if it should remain my personal tool or more people can benefit from it.
Sorry, for now - only couple, and with specific requirements. They have to be:
- willing to help, not just use the tool
- having _small_ portfolios (couple hundreds) across IS, SS, DT and StockXpert

If you are interested - please PM me with links to your portfolios on these sites (only for size verification), and I'll white-list selected one (or two, or three - we'll see how service can handle the load) at http://statsmicro.com
