It must be to do with the content and possibly with the lighting.
* I am having around 99% acceptance for my studio people shots (goes down if I try to experiment with contrast directional lighting) * Goes down with people shoot outdoor natural light and candid type of pictures * Goes further down with nature/landscape pictures

FWIW, here's what Achilles said in the above linked thread: "The default cannot be changed, at least not for now."
he says a few posts down that it's possibe and gives the link to http://www.dreamstime.com/oldfiles.phpI tried it and it worked. And the page now says "Click here to set your default action to donating the images to the free section" instead of "click here to set default to disable" What do you see if you simply go to address http://www.dreamstime.com/oldfiles.php?setdefault=D ?

Here's the thread on the how-to - http://www.dreamstime.com/thread_19796
Donated without consent - how do I disable/delete free images
Basically, you get a notification by email and in your comments 30 days prior. Once you click the box to delete rather than move to the free section it becomes the default for any future images.
Ummm, it doesn't for me. I keep clicking "delete" and the default is still "donate".
Seems to work for me - I went to http://www.dreamstime.com/oldfiles.php, clicked "click here" and got to http://www.dreamstime.com/oldfiles.php?setdefault=DAnd yes was a bit annoying for me too and I am thankful that link was provided

for me istock was pretty much in line with the previous months until yesterday. And then suddenly several ELs on the last day of the month So Feb-2011 my BME on istock. SS, DT, FT are ok, no surprises 123rf is better than usual but still within the historical deviation I continue uploading to Alamy (which used to have very small portion of my portfolio until a few months ago) and that helps - I am getting sales there more often than before. Got 2 decent sales in Februrary.

I didn't upload for several months in 2010 and my sales dropped by about 30%

Did you see the restriction that you only have 150MB of FTP space (which turns out to be about 38 images).
where did you see that restriction? I just uploaded about 260MB without any problem, awaiting for import

Why is this so hard....
Everything is relative Compared to other sites it's still hard. Compared to the previous version of Panthermedia it's so much easier now!

finally they made it! However I don't get why it takes 3 hours to process the files I sent via FTP... I.e. I can't yet judge the rest of the process.

model profile isn't public, only the name of the profile. Nothing prevents you from naming them like Person-A or girl-123.

Why do we need DT, FT or any other agency between us and the actual seller of our images? You could set up a microstock agency in your bedroom, as plenty of folk have attempted, the only difficult bit is having the money to market it effectively. If Pixmac have the money for marketing as well as fancy offices, according to their website, then why not deal with contributors directly?
Not to answer this particular one, but on similar topic: dealing with contributors is one story; dealing with buyers is completely different story. So there is nothing wrong to split 2 areas between different companies. Many of traditional macrostock agencies are working that way - there are production agencies (either doing in-house production or using external contributors) who make the selection, attributing, form "collections" and then distribute it via distribution agencies. Some of distribution agencies don't deal with contributors at all; some deal with limited number of contributors. Microstock story in general, and pixmac specifically is different to that model, but I see certain resemblance.

if they get "enough" submissions (enough from their own business point of view) why bother with the new system? Easier upload = more uploads = more inspectors = higher cost. If they can't justify it with sales growth it's counterproductive to introduce it...
David, the main problem is not uploading but attributing which is extremely painful at the moment... It is more painful than the old system at Alamy (and now Alamy significantly improved it).

I doubt very much they are doing the testing for the last 19 months. I guess they just got some other priorities and submission mechanism remains unfinished.

Was it Zoonar or Polylooks who paid us for uploading, can't remember...
[updated]jointly Polylooks & zoonarPaying us to upload and then closing site afterwards is funny - microstock is never boring.
I suppose it's different top managers at Deutche Telecom who made these 2 different decisions. One decided to give it a try and then some one else probably decided that it isn't a strategic business for Deutche Telecom and isn't worth spending anything more. [updated]corrected typo - thank you microstockphoto.co.uk

For the last 2 years I mainly used 85mm lens for studio portrait but it suffers from rather heavy CA; so lately I started to use 100mm f2.8 Macro instead (it's good for portraits, I don't shoot macro).
When I need wide angle I use Sigma 24-60mm f2.8.

I use photoshop - put keywords at the end of image processing. Perhaps not the fastest way... Are those external programs mentioned in this thread able to add IPTC info to 16-bit TIFF files?
(I know IrfanView is very slow for that as it needs to open the file before I can edit IPTC so it would certainly not be any faster than photoshop)
Lightroom isn't my choice because it always sorts keywords alphabetically which isn't good for fotolia and possibly for some other sites.

Thanks for clarification. It's a pity they closed Polylooks when it just started to pick up... Let's see if the other partners will work better.

I noticed that I got several "partner" sales as Zoonar in Jan marked as Polylooks. How can? Isn't Polylooks fully closed for several months?

The big question what is the lifetime of the images, how quickly will they date ?
I didn't upload anything for half a year in 2010. And my images are much less "sellable" than Yuri's. Yet my drop in sales has been only 30%. I believe portfolio of Johnathan Ross still sells quite well on micro despite it's not being updated for a couple of years.

I just hope Shutterstock will not do that. I am am almost certain Dreamstime will not do that (though who knows)
