Try downloading and using their Zoonar Media Manager...that makes it a lot easier.
I did. Compared to Fotolia flash uploader for instance, Java looks very old-style, especially its file browser without thumbs and one by one. Or perhaps I'm missing something...
It is slow if you add file by file. But you can add entire folders and then it's fast to do.
The workflow is indeed different to what I used with other sites, but if you accept it it works very fast.

* upload complete folder using that external Java application
* after images accepted edit entire group - add RF license, info about releases and submit to partners
* that's it :)

It's a bit annoying to me that for adding license, release info etc I need to do it one by one and can't to altogether - but again as I can do it with a large group of uploaded pics I don't feel it's a big deal...

New Sites - General / Re: New Israeli Microstock Site
« on: April 23, 2010, 03:43 »
I am surprised to see there photos of some wellknown authors like Forgiss, Dolgachov, Yuri... Indeed the site has a poor design, very little info about the company, no watermarks... Perhaps they partner with some micro sites and got those portfolios via partnership?

http://www.featurepics.com/helpcenter/uploadrules.html - interesting move. Apparently most subjects are now rejected by FP, including studio people photos. They are trying to be original... Presumably people in life scenes will still be accepted as well as industrial pics.... and that's about it :) Ah yes, also vehicles.

Mostphotos.com / Re: Who has had sales at MostPhotos?
« on: April 21, 2010, 14:04 »
I used to have just a few tens photos there. In the autumn of 2009 I uploaded half of my portfolio (as it's extremely easy and a good way to have a backup).

Never had any single sale with Mostphotos. Seems backup is the only reason to use them :)

Whether zoonar has great sales potential or not I have no clue (only time will tell). But upload efforts are low (no categories needed, no need to attach releases) so why not?

And I do think they might have a potential especially with their partner program...

Just wanted to mention that the registration for New Media Conference is now open and can be done at http://eventus.trippus.se/dublin2010/new_media

The registration process a bit confusing from my point of view but it works correctly :) The total amount for the conference itself is 229 Eur including VAT and not including any extra options.

208
I submitted my pictures as "standard" :)

And wow - I've already got the first sale with slightly above hundred pics online. And it is a decent 4.67 Eur

I submitted some of my average photos (not best not worst) and got acceptance rate about 82%

Wouldn't call it low...

I'd like to experience that famous fast growth of Fotolia.
My FL sales were low for a long time, but started to grow considerably after my portfolio has grown above 1000 photos. One of my friends photographing very different subjects mentioned similar experience with FL.

123RF / Re: Help us Review some Russian Translations
« on: April 13, 2010, 05:37 »
Sounds like you can't afford a pro.
No - they do have translations (presumably pro) but want them validated by native speakers. It's much better approach IMO compared with some other sites who made very poor translations.

Whether it's a big deal or not is rather subjective.... but the difference is pretty obvious.

I made a simple example - well exposed image, not very much editing, not too many layers. There are 2 frames in the animated gif: one is the result of 16 bit editing, converted to 8 bit at the end (e.g. all layers flattened in 16 bit and then converted to 8 bit); the other frame is result of 8-bit editing - i.e. same file was first converted to 8 bit, then flattened.

In case you have deeper shadows, in case they are underexposed, in case you have higher ISO you will see much bigger difference. But even this example is sufficient reason for me to do all editing in 16 bit.

Oh, I'm there on Tuesday. So I'll miss this. Enjoy anyway! Vita
May be we should organize something ourselves? ;)

It's not "LOL" at all as it's inconvenient. Not a huge problem, but unpleasant.

New Sites - General / Re: again new site - fstockphotos.com
« on: April 06, 2010, 10:09 »
Also, please tell me why you are not interested in joining us.
We have seen many beginning microstock agencies in the last 4 years that failed. Uploading my 1500 photos would take a lot of time and effort which I am not ready to spend with very very uncertain return.

Another recent new comer DepositPhotos solved that problem by paying every contributor for every photo they accept. That is one of the best possible way for new agency to build a base of pictures, but it requires quite significant investment.

Featurepics.com / Re: FP's new design
« on: April 04, 2010, 13:28 »
I don't care much about design as long as there are no sales. There were few, and gradually it changed to none.

I found forum at http://featureimage.com/forum/ (I typed featurepics.com/forum and it redirected me to featureimage)

I wonder what will be the activities on the 8th - perhaps I could join some...

previews didn't work in Safari for Windows 4.0.3, still doesn't work after upgrade to 4.0.5. Running it on Windows 7 64bit.

Also, it mentions 1 error when loading SS gallery page.

Why can't they just pay in Euro by normalbank account to another Euro country?

Yes they can do that:
# If your bank account is outside Germany, please enter your IBAN and BIC (mandatory). Otherwise, please leave them empty.
# There is a charge for transfers outside the EU. The fees are charged to the photographer and will be deducted from their remuneration. If you do not wish to pay these fees, please use PayPal or Firstgate Click&Buy instead.
# We reserve the right to charge a fee of EUR 10 for problems caused by incorrect account details. Please check your account details carefully

Also, if you prefer PayPal you don't have to give it to Panthermedia at the time of your account registration, you can indeed do it later.

I suppose Safari should behave the same way on Mac but I don't have Mac to test it:) Yes I meant Safari for win.

Will appreciate if you share your experience/learnings about that shoot after it will be completed. I can't join you but I will be in that area in the summer...

The site http://en.book.fr seems to be helpful for French models (though I didn't use it myself).
