123RF / Re: Anyone else having increased sales at 123rf ?
« on: December 17, 2009, 06:25 »
For me December is better than November, but still within the boundaries of average sales - i.e. no jump.

Off Topic / Re: Christmas donations, if anyone wants to help me

would be interesting to know how much you collected in total via MSG forum :)

StockXpert.com / Re: StockXpert closing down soon?
« on: December 16, 2009, 14:40 »
The messages in StockXpert forum say that the team was reduced significantly and will reduce even more from 1-Jan - however the same note says that several reviewers will stay.

Thus it seems they are going to freeze any development of StockXpert but keep it running and accepting new pics. At least for the time being.

StockXpert.com / Re: Bad things about to happen ...
« on: December 15, 2009, 10:29 »
For me December is about $20 which seems to be not as bad as for some others - but anyway much lower than before :(

It's a pity, StockXpert was a good site.

There is 16-th and 17-th reason to join MP.
16 - proven sales
17 - Euros

Did you mean 16 - proven lack of sales? :(

And I would say from my point of view items 8, 9 and 10 are reasons NOT to join mostphotos.... (well, not strong enough though - I am on mostphotos and recently uploaded a few hundred pics just because it only needed a couple of minutes of my time [not counting data transfer time]). The reasons I uploaded aren't 15 or even 10, in fact they are only:
* I've heard there are sales sometimes
* Upload effort is nearly 0 so even one sale will compensate it
* Can serve as backup for my portfolio - no inspection at all, and I can download my own photos at any time

they must have noticed something (or were notified :)) - the site is now down.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: December DL's Near ZERO (0)
« on: December 13, 2009, 09:07 »
December is slow after 20-Dec, not now yet :)
So far my sales in December is above average (but I suspect the total for month will still be below average after the drop that will come soon).

308
I will still upload this weekend to SS, then take a break till Jan
Will continue with istock though (with their limits I don't want to miss a chance to get more pics online there).

Not sure about Dreamstime and Fotolia - may be don't upload any more this year...

My sales dropped a lot at StockXpert, but still better than Bigstock

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Partner Programme early sales reports
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:30 »
I have $1.80 of partner sales in November - isn't that strange??

Veer / Re: really strange portfolio on veer... (adults only)
« on: December 06, 2009, 15:50 »
That's not stock images - they are "portfolio" ones i.e. those that author can upload on their personal presentation page. Those aren't inspected/controlled in any way - but I am sure they will be taken off once somebody will report the issue to support.

Adobe Stock / Re: Question about country in pictures
« on: December 06, 2009, 10:45 »
it is the country where the photo has been taken. If it filled in in IPTC ("country of origin"), fotolia will pick it up automatically.

P.S. your country is already known to fotolia from your registration data, no need to re-ask wih every new photo :)

Featurepics.com / Re: How to attach multiple releases
« on: November 27, 2009, 06:54 »
why bother with non-selling site? :)

Featurepics.com / Re: Anyone selling at Featurepics?
« on: November 24, 2009, 09:58 »
If Yuri makes only $600 with collection of 20,000 photos I will hardly make $10 in a year with my 1,000 if less sell-able pics.... not worth my time indeed

Software - General / Re: Windows 7
« on: November 22, 2009, 06:27 »
ah I see... I never ever used that feature so I didn't notice it's gone :)

Software - General / Re: Windows 7
« on: November 20, 2009, 18:54 »
I am quite happy with W7 64 bit after using it for a couple months.

sharpshot - I am not sure I understand what you mean. Are you talking about file sort order in Windows Explorer? You can easily change it by clicking on corresponding column title (Name, Size, Date, etc)

Canon / Re: Firmware update for 5D mark II for 24- 25fps
« on: October 21, 2009, 15:50 »
7d can at 720p
yes but that's much lower than 1080 in terms of total nr of pixels to process! And 5D Mk II only has 640x480, but not 720...

btw, does 7D has the same CPU as 5D Mk II ?

123RF / Re: Donate Free Images? Is it good ?
« on: October 21, 2009, 15:48 »
nope, I tested it once quite intensively for couple weeks; my free files were downloaded like hot cakes, but 0 impact on sales.

same on dreamstime.

Canon / Re: Firmware update for 5D mark II for 24- 25fps

I am not sure their current CPU can handle processing of 60 fps

General Stock Discussion / Re: Skin issue

You better show some full size (crop) examples of your rejected pics, then we could give you better advice.

Bigstock.com / Re: Funny Rejections
« on: October 15, 2009, 03:38 »
I am still having very few rejections there, less than 10%.

General Stock Discussion / Re: How Much are you making?
« on: October 13, 2009, 04:06 »
I answered the poll.  The only problem I see with it is that honestly if you're making the lower figures you're not spending your time on micro forums because it's not a HUGE part of your life.  If you're here you're more likely to be making money.
Totally agree - there are thousands of contributors at low end who never show up here. Though some of high end too :) Yuri is here very seldom, Andres or Kathy are never coming here, as well as other top microstockers. So it's probably more like middle class people gathering here :)

323
sounds like a good event - it's a pity I can't be there !

324
Just to add that professional photographer always used to sign a new release for new shoot - ages before istock existed!

I don't see it as an issue when working with external models.

Only annoying when you need to do it again and again with family members or close friends.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Anyone using medium format?
« on: October 09, 2009, 16:28 »
The price for the Mamiya ZDb 22 MP back has drop from $7,199 to $3,699 at B&H.

Yeah, that price is starting to look affordable.
Yeah but what extras will it give you comparing to EOS 5D Mk2? Extra shallow depth of field for portraits?
