« on: March 17, 2008, 14:30 »
I like DT.  I think they try to be professional and fair.

tell me that's a joke, please. fair? changing a contract with 6months keeping photos that are uploaded a year ago?
 that's not fair. -that stinks.
subscription downloads for the same images (which did not have that option in the time those wer uploaded?). - that's not fair - that stinks.

pixelbrat how did you got property release for figurines (toys)? i had a few nice images with toys (santa - velvet dolls actually) rejected with "no property release" rejection.

whenever some of my photos are downloaded on isp - honestly, i ask myself "how did they (customers) ever found these ones on the earth"..
b.t.w. you are wrong thinking that isp is earning more money on non-exclusives.
example: if you have some good photo, and  you are exclusive with is - customer who likes that one have only one possibility to buy that specific image - to buy credits on isp, and buy that image.
if you are non-exclusive - customer can buy this image on other sites with "per photo sale" for ...(less money). ;)

if there is somebody who still  can make me nervous - is reviewers (some of) are surely one of these..
 but
if this is really photo from camera you said that it is - that's really bad camera.
i am nikon user for  years (from film age, and last century :) ).., but i'm sure that canon with number 1 is not bad camera at all, what's more - i'm pretty convinced this is actually very good camera.
 so
i make conclusion - about this specific image - that you luck some photographic skill. -i mean - i can be a hypocrite, and tell you that everything is o.k. ... but - i do not mean this. i mean right that what i said.
here is my sunflower - you can zoom the image.

http://www.istockphoto.com/file_closeup/object/4262732_sunflowers.php?id=4262732

-you can see that white can be 255 255 255 - that's "isolated" 254 254 254 is not an isolation - that's "white background"
in other words - my opinion is that for this specific image reviewer is mostly right than wrong. and of course - don't give up.

ouch. i'm sorry - i opened photos, and when i saw that these are actually really nice images - i did not look on kwds.
...now i opened (bs portfolio). - seems to me that everything is o.k. with keywords. my experience says that almost all images are found by mostly first 10 relevant keywords (actually even less of these ) - and i saw you have all relevant words on three photos that i opened.

yes, on istock is "enthusiasm" , but on fotolia, it's a huge keyword spamming. i think that mr. shock is a real poison for us -who consider this business seriously.
 illustration:

 http://www.fotolia.com/id/1483371
- this guitar, regarding the kewords attached is:
yellow, classical (i'm a professional musician also - i NEVER played or visited classical event with gibson les paul (like) guitar, fun, restaurant,  soulkeeper (how?), spanish (no - it's an american ;) ), relaxing...e.t.c.

this notebook computer on the timber board , http://www.fotolia.com/id/758455
 is:

investment (yes - you need some money to buy), woman (i would'nt lie in to bed with this lady, do i? someone else?),
business, businessman (well, what this computer is, woman, or businessman?  :D :D), it's also aquamarine, corporation (nice little c.o. - i would say).... etc. etc....

 this cute kid, http://www.fotolia.com/id/1578127
 is:
adult, chic (and not a child?),  forest (without trees), long hair, marathon (pretty heavy path for this marathon - over mountains:):) ), it's also a woman, and women,  it's cuba and bosnia and herzegovina at the same time, we have photosynthesis, road and river....

this cucumber is, o.k. - i'll copy/paste:
1kg abstract agriculture arapovic benis best business businessman buy concept conntact cook cookery cooking corporate cucumber diet eat flavour food foodstuff fresh green group health healthy ingredient isolated lbs leader lover lovers man market meal nature pair people plant real salad salat sel sell shock shop single tasty team touch trade veg vegetable vegeterian veggie vitamin wight work

http://www.fotolia.com/id/833803

-that's nice example of huge huge huge keyword spamming, and makin fulls all of us - both photographers, microstock site and designers

you have really nice portfolio (i opened 3 pages on ss portfolio) - i think that main problem (with lack of dl-s) is that i do not see photos with living people (models).- i have some about 2500 photos online on various stocks - and i have to admit that photos with models are selling much better than the some others (nature on example - regarding the fact that you need (in my opinion) much bigger photographic skill, knowledge, and experience (and equipment) to shoot nature ).

i did not submit any image for contest. main reason: it's impossible. - photos has been on pending state so long so these could not reach the uploading rules. :(

i hope that bugs are going to be fixed as soon as possible.

your photos on istock (10 so far) are really nice, and i believe sell able. but on fotolia, i would close your account immediately because of huge keyword spamming.  - which i can see you try to do there (on istock) too.
 example:
woman running on the beach (if i believe your keywords):

girl (female child), (which is also "sexy") (so olimpic  games, are actually erotic games ;) )
 young woman
 mid adult woman,
and female (if she is woman, it's hard to be a male, is it?)
sports footwear (sneaker)(which? left or right?) - i see woman wearing sneakers (which is irrelevant)
 successful (in what?)

i myself would really put a poison in a drink to reviewer who did not reject your file with key wording reason

 good luck.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Have the inspectors become more strict?
« on: October 22, 2007, 14:07 »
no. they are the same.  sometimes (mostly) your rejected files are going to be rejected because there are some reasonable reasons , and sometimes (rarely) i really ask myself "is this person who rejected this image with this text really normal?".
also, sometimes reviewers give their personal comment on images with advice what to do (to re-upload).
so - they are not so bad  :):)
of course - my advice is always to try to find where is the problem with image (and as i already said - it is likely to have some problems), and try to avoid that in future.

138
i agree that if i have a stock agency - and if i had a "newbie" as iophoto is - i would make exception - iofoto's portfolio is great - on every single photo we can see that "they know what they're doin' " ...

and also, i have to say that i had a few times uploaded more photos than it was limit at the momentum (it was a little breaking limits - but 120 > 100 - so it is breaking of rule) - and no one made any problem to me.
i do not what would happen' now, because i stopped uploading photos for a few months. - a few days ago i uploaded a few small bactch of photos (some 20-30 files) - so i do not know.

i am never nervous about rejections on any site.  but the fact that i have my nerve system breakdowns is a huge inconsistency in reviewing policy on isp. i really stopped to look on what people upload. - unbelievable keyword  spamming or at least non-relevant keywording is being approved etc. etc.. - today i rated one (excellent) photo of one of my cn members. - i rated photo, - i looked only on the image, and  than,  when i already submited my comment -i saw keywords, and i got sick..

:(  agreed. i was so frustrated, that i made conclusion that i can't reach CanStockPhoto customers needs, and  decided to close my account on CanStockPhoto.
i am not sure if it was smart or not, but for now, i'm off with CanStockPhoto :( :(

ha ha.
that's really good - dt erased my post, and one of administrators sent me a message which says that i should carefully "check my numbers"  before posting...(and theme is closed).

that's like -  when i see stormy clouds approaching, and say "ok people, -there are some heavy clouds on the sky let's take some shelter, -hurricane is about to come" - and answer is - "come on - don't bother us - it's just a few of roofs destroyed a few towns away... let's wait if it's really going to hurt us.."

 - i rarely wait for hurricanes to kill me, and my family, and destroy our home... - now i'm almost sure - dt is going to change his owner in less than a year .

143
I'm not too worried about those 0.25 sales. There's a reason why SS is the biggest earner for most of us. A lot of sales can only be a good thing.... I hope  ::)

why don't you try to STOP uploading on ss, and tell us than - if ss was top earner for that month? :) - you'll be (unpleasantly) surprised.
well, i don't know. for now, i stopped uploading on dt, and i'll wait until june-july - to make final conclusion, but for now, i think that dt does not representing my (and all of non-exclusive submitters) on the best possible way.

144
i had first 025 on friday. my flags are on the half of the spear  :-[ ....

145
just as i already said before. i'm not yet sure, but it's more likely that i am going to erase my portfolio on dt, somewhere in Jun- July.

and i even had a download of this photo the same day.

@medaleide: yes. i understand your point. but we here do business (for money). and one of first things about doing business is - not to deal with "emotions" but with "cold brain" (don't know english word, but you got the point).
even when this business needs both creativity and emotions as photographing is - that's "creation" part (concept, faming, composition, which lens... wb.. etc...). but this is not business part of it.  business part is - rejection or acceptance. try to imagine that you want to sell your used car in "used cars" store. - the seller is going to say : yes, i'll re-sell your used car with this price ( on example 5$ for "L"ong car - and i'll take 2.5, and  you got your 2.5$ - arter the selling, your car wil stay on my parkplace..) - or he can just say : "sorry sir, we are not interested " - with no further explanation - does it mean anything about you or your car? (or photos) - no - that is just as said: he is not interested in that specific model or whatever. - are you going to sell that used car in some other store? - i'm sure you will (at least if it has 4 wheels :)

p.s. last night i uploaded a batch of photos, and some 4 or 5 were rejected with subject too blurry. - should i cry? - no. if i "believe" in that my work -  next time i'll increase power of flashes, and will close apperture - so i'll have bigger dof , and those kind of images will be accepted (if i believe in my work - and i do!). (yes, those are accepted elsewhere, and is already selling).

yes i could "cry" to admins to review photos again, and those might be accepted. but if someone thinks that 5,  (or 105) photos are going to make some big changes in his portfolio, than rf micro business is not for him i would say.

i can expect some "wide" explanation about rejection if i am the only or one of a few photographers that site works with - but i am not - i am one of hundreds or more likely -  thousands, - i believe that would not be fair me to expect any rf site to write a "story" to me about rejections. - easier way is me to read "stories" that are already wrote - in photography (and photoshop) books

StockXpert.com / Re: New rejection reasons
« on: February 03, 2007, 10:09 »
well in terms of use on every single one rf agencies DOES NOT say: "images that are approved on our competitor - sites/agencies are automatically aproved here" , but it DOES SAY: " every image is going to be inspected by our inspectors, and once approved will be online for selling" (not these words, but this point ).
for example i am in most active users on StockXpert. and my approval ratio on every site that i upload is between 75% and 95+%.
yes a few days ago i gad rejection with "please upload better quality images" - should i be angry with that? - no. should i consider that explanation personally? - no. should i complain to site admins?(with booo-hoo-hoo text? :) )? - no.
so, what did i do? - i smiled and said "o.k. - i'm going to make some better images" (and i did :) )
so ... cheer up my fellows, get a smile on your faces, and... work.work.work...
