I started uploading to DT since middle of February and receiving overall 60% acceptance ratio. Just when I gaining confidence on what I should submit to DT and improving acceptance rate then things changed suddently after a month and half. I've been digging out travel photos accumulated in the past years so nothing changed in my submitted photos.

Peep, I did receive some "too many shots" rejections as well. May be you can try to split them in different bunch of submission. 100% accepted in March? Wow... a dream of me  ::)

I did split them - I always do it to avoid any stupid reviewer who does not like the particular subject (he would mass-reject the whole batch). I usually put only two or three images out of  series in a batch. And it usually works OK for me both here and on Fotolia. But this time the reviewer was a bit overzealous and obviously looked at the previous batches.

All of sudden my acceptance rate drops like hell at DT since the late of March. Only 3 out of 15 was accepted in my last submittion. Almost all rejections are for "this is well covered....". Funny thing is FT accepted 3 of DT rejected photos. hm...

anyone experiencing similar there?

Yes, I had almost 100% acceptance in March, but half of my first batch in April was rejected for this very reason - "well covered..." or "too many shots from the same series". I really hate it when photographs which are technically OK are rejected for those stupid reasons. I would not mind so much if it did not affect my acceptance ratio in a negative way...

Perfect idea. I think I will do the very same.

Their rejections are strange, they accept almost everything from one batch and reject loads from the next.  I don't feel like uploading any more there.  My expectations of sales are very low...

Exactly my thinking. They are a bunch of beginning amateurs not knowing how to review properly but thinking too high of themselves.

Now I see the game:
I uploaded about 50 photos before this 100 or 500$, 99% approved
Then when I knew about the offer I uploaded 1000 of my best sellers thinking that it wouldnt be easy for them to reject a few of them...

The result is 20% approved. No 500 images approved

Exactly - first they approved almost everything. Now they refuse almost everything so that I cannot reach 500 images on-line. I guess I shall end up having 499 images approved. They refuse images accepted everywhere else with stupid reasons like "poor composition" or even "snapshot". I have stopped uploading more at once.

General Photography Discussion / Re: Advice on DOF?
« on: April 01, 2009, 04:37 »
I remember seeing  advise somewhere in forums about not using smaller aperture than about F16 for stock photos but I cannot remember why. F29 seems really tiny. I can set F32 on my lens but I have never done it so far. What aperture do you usually use for macro and for some isolated small object you intend to upload to microstock?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Username in keywords poll

Well, I did include it for the very reason you mention (to find stolen images) and I did have rejections because of it. So I stopped doing it a few months ago. But I must add I found several images this way which were not stolen but which had my keywords copied word by word.

33
Personally I agree any contributor should ask to be allowed to upload to any site. And he may be accepted or declined even without futher explanation. But that is all. I really hate the send-me-a-goverment-issued-document crap. And in general this BigBrother paranoia of wanting documents and personal data everywhere. I hate having copies of my ID all over the world. And I do not see how it might help. If I wanted to cheat or sell stolen photos, I could make a false document in a whip.

We feel the overall production level of this image could have been better. This could cover styling, props or the appropriateness of your models to the content of the image. Thanks, Crestock.

Well - that is something! You may think it is nothing special - but then you must know it was a portrait of a ...

Next time I am going to employ a stylist - to be able to earn .25 USD.

I have sold both EL and OD today. Never has anything like that happened before! I hope it will go on...  ;D

As someone who shoots nothing but objects, I want images WITHOUT people to get search preferences, unless the buyer specifies "people" in the search.

Agree 100%. Who wants people should look for them.

37
Sorry, I totally forgot about humorous magazines (because I am said not to have any sense of humour probably...) - you might be right, they would probably buy and use this photo...
But the fact that your friends like (and BTW. so do I) and want the photo does not necessarily speak about the commercial value of it as they are probably not going to use it anywhere commercially or pay for it...

38
Technical quality aside, the photo is certainly interesting - but it can only be because I am interested in ethology.
As for the commercial value - where exactly do you think it can be used? I am afraid it would be banned from most magazines, brochures, leaflets etc. because of the clear sexual undertone (children under ... of age might see it and... you know - that kind of nonsense). So - I do not think the commercial value would be so great. But a few (or a lot, you never know...) people might buy it just out of curiosity... Have you ever sold it on the sites where it was accepted?

39
BTW. do you know about any other agency who has DECREASED the commission recently? It is not very usual, is it?

First of all, if you want to cancel your account, you have to do so in writing. Yes, on dead trees stuff. You will have to go to the post office and send it by registered mail. Don't we all like to sit at our PC and do everything online? Yack.

Hahaha... You just crashed into the typical Czech red tape (bureaucracy). Be happy you do not have to live here. EVERYTHING here must be in writing with 999 stamps and seals, every crap has to be sent in a registered letter (even better with the delivery confirmation) so that you will have to go to the post office in person to collect it ... And be happy they do not want you to send 666 copies of your letter to all (im)possible offices and institutions... Or that your letter does not have to be authenticated by a notary... This is just a small sample of what you have to get used to in this small red taped country...

This is really wonderful :-( All I have been selling recently are either XSs or SUBs (which are laughing matter anyway). So it means I will probably sell more images but I will certainly earn less. Yeah, great. The better DT becomes, the worse FT...

Something has been wrong with their FTP too. I uploaded a few files yesterday and they have not appeared there yet. I can only see them in some folder when I log in using Total Commander. But I am not able to find them anywhere on the page.

The new images are only 20 per cent for me today. So I do not know... I hope it will improve. :-)

Veer / Re: Snapvillage to be folded into Veer

I do not understand it properly. Did Brian really say we had to sign-up on Veer even if we had an account on SV?

Veer / Re: Ding Dong, SnapVillage is dead...or reconfiguring...or?
« on: February 05, 2009, 12:00 »
Does this mean we have to upload (again) our stuff to Veer, or do they move all the snapvillage stuff automatically to Veer?

Nope - should be no need in most cases. We'll transfer accounts and images to the new platform for you.

OK - that is perfect. And is there any point in uploading more at SV or would it be better for us to wait? In general I am sorry to see them go... I liked SV...

Right now I'm sitting at 99.99, I kid you not. Does seem to happen that way. Only notice it when I need the money. The one I don't like is 123rf. Been waiting on a payout for a while now. At least with Dreamstime you make the request.

Btw. - where am I to request money at 123??? I have finally reached payment (after several months!!! - terrible...) but I cannot find out how to request money.

Shutterstock.com / Re: How did SS perform for you this month?
« on: February 03, 2009, 14:53 »
Oh god, this month seems to be even worse than the previous one! SS has been really terrible at sales recently despite my uploading several times a week. The new images do not even seem to take off. SS is my 3rd earner this month and it has never been that bad.  ???

Has anything like that happened before? Is it advisable to wait for the files to appear or to upload them again?
