« on: September 01, 2011, 13:33 »
This is my stock photography sales statistic for August 2011. You can find a complete list of stock photography agencies that I work with here.

These are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for August 2011:

    Shutterstock
    DepositPhotos
    Dreamstime
    iStockPhoto

I expended to have a drop in August, but the drop was much softer with only 11% compared to July. And an increase of 23% compared to August 2010. It was the best month ever for Dreamstime. At this point I also like to mention DepositPhotos. If I don't take in account the first view month where I received the promotion to get paid for uploads, then August 2011 would have been the best month ever for DepositPhotos. DepositPhotos has shown a constant increase of sales for several month.

(This statistic include referral earning at the different agencies)

Don't know if it makes a difference with DepositPhotos or not, but I try to upload a minimum of 5 images per week. Maybe that makes me more visible? Just as it used to be with Shutterstock, that you had more sales if you upload on a regular bases.

179
It maybe that at some places the title is displayed in all capital letter, but not everywhere. This may could case problems with the search, display, indexing.

180
I would say so too. Always start with the top earner first and then work your way down, but ...

you may also include all the mid and lower earner that have FTP upload. Why? If you only start with the top right now, you take your image the first time in you hands, in a few month you 2 more agencies, and you take the same images again in you hands and upload then, 2 month later ... you get the point. It takes time to upload the same images over and over again.

I use in the moment http://lightburner.com/ to upload my images to most of the agencies I work with ( List of agencies I work with (list is re-sorted every month by income)). With this I have one upload and LightBurner does the upload to the agencies. Big time saver. Then I have all my agencies bookmarked in the browser and opening the on different taps at the same time. Now I go though every agency and submit the uploaded images. (if you don't like Lightburner there are other option out there, like CushyStock, ProStockMaster, FileZilla, PicWorkFlow ...)

Well this system only works if you upload in small increments of image every time. If you produce like 50 or more images per week then it maybe better to stay only with the biggest 6 agencies. That is something you have to try out.

In the moment I actively upload to 28 agencies. Take a look at my pie charts at http://stock.hlehnerer.com/Stats.html Which one should I drop? Yes quite a few low earners, but then there are the times where these spike, and all the time spend is then paid for (well...). Take for example Zoonar, low earner but in March I had a pig spike with 3-4 well paid sales. I also submit to StockFresh, a non-earner in the moment. But they are the maker of StockXpert, so they know what they are doing. Will they ever take off? I don't know, but I think they have a good change. And when they do, I want to be part of it. The newest agency I started uploading is Photodune. Why did I started uploading there? Because they have already an established customer base with their other outlets. So there is a good potential of income. But only time will show.

There is also the problem that it becomes increasingly more difficult to get at some of the big agencies images accepted. And you do need to get an portfolio established with them to have sales.

Hmmm... more to think about for you now. Well, I with you good luck!

Here is some more info about them:
http://microstockagencies.blogspot.com/search/label/The3dStudio

So far I have only good experiences with them. They pay every month automatically. No minimum payout for paypal. Images are immediately online as editorials until they are through the review process. No long waiting time if you contact support. Easy upload, and the categories have suggestions. They are a low earner for me but I have in average every month some sales.

Am I am the only one here that has increase sales every month at DP? I group on facebook I see that other have increased sales too. Therefore the green up arrow on the right site here does not surprises me. I would even go so far to say that soon they may hold their place in the Top
Tier - Big 4.

I think every agency has their way to VIP some contributors in on way or the other in their search engine. They are only not so upfront about it. And their strategies is changing from time to time too.

This promotion system was there at DP right from the beginning. The only different was that in the first 3-4 month everyone qualified and then they change it to an VIP status. They just don't talk about it all the time.

And as long as I have an increase in sales every month, I don't care if there are some contributors have a VIP status and get paid for their first 500 accepted images.

StockXpert.com / Re: Thinkstock earning posted
« on: August 16, 2011, 13:44 »
I think you are talking just the income from Thinkstock through StockXpert. There are two factors that lower the earnings. One is that we still have vacation time, and other is that you cannot increase the portfolio anymore at StockXpert. But all other sources of Thinkstock are growing. So I would think it is normal for the income through StockXpert to shrink.

It is vacation time in Germany. I think you probably can expect longer review times until the beginning of September. At least that would be my guess.

It doesn't looks like to me that BigStock is exuding POD in its EL license.
http://www.bigstockphoto.com/licensing-tos.html

Also 123rf looks like to include an EL license that would alow the use in Zazzle

New Sites - General / Re: Asian stock sites?
« on: June 20, 2011, 16:43 »
You can find here some more info about them:
http://microstockagencies.blogspot.com/2011/04/photokore.html

They are still very young. They started sometimes last year. CEO is Sean F. Mooney. Their focus is the Asian market. They translate the keywords into different Asian languages. They just added Hindi as a search language. They listen to the contributors and trying to changes to their system to fix these problems. But for now I have lots of views but no sales. They are present in the Asian social media systems. I am not aware of any other agency doing this so far.

Will they make it? I don't know. But I will give them a try. Asia is a big market.

DepositPhotos / Re: Who has had sales at DepositPhotos?
« on: June 13, 2011, 13:22 »
I started with them 12/2009 too, and have basically starting 02/2010 almost every month increases in sales. Looks like they can stand their position in my Top 6 agencies. I have nothing to complain about them. Fast and easy upload. Fast approval time. Not to many rejections. Excellent for a new site.

197
I mark all of them with 24%

I only see approved images too in this list.

Also would it be possible to make the "Media File - Portfolio View" sortable by upload-date, views, download, increase and decrease?

199
I have seen advertisements for Zazzle in magazines, websites, and billboards before. They do advertisements. There was also a documentary/report about them on TV not to long ago.

Panthermedia.net / Re: PantherMedia, how do they work?
« on: June 05, 2011, 21:54 »
I think if you do well at BigStock then you will do OK at Panthermedia too.
Deleting your an image is, at least for me, not a problem. There is even an select all button at the top.
