Thanks for your opinions. I still don't know but I'll think about it.

Well, after all this raving I tried to register but it didn't work. I tried 2 times but as the site is sooo slow I guess my registration is lost in space everytime.
What is the problem?

StockXpert.com / Opting in at Stockxpert?
« on: December 15, 2008, 07:13 »
I am very curious if it is worthwile opting in at Stockxpert. I opted out the moment this Photos.com thing started because I didn't trusted it at all. I am still doubtfull but I would love to know if it would make a lot of difference. I sell about one a day averaged out,  but I do make 50, 1.50, 2.50 or 5 for those photos. I am bit afraid that when I opt in I will only make 20 cents a photo and I will not sell any bigger priced photos anymore. Could somebody enlighten me, please? Do you sell only small potatoes or do you also sell big ones? I have a reasonable portfolio of about 1000 images. Should I or shouldn't I? Thanks in advance..

Alike Louates I couldn't imagine going exclusive at Istock or anywhere. I want my photos to be mine so I can decide what to do with them and I also would never put all my eggs in one basket. Businesswise this is alway a very bad idea. If you are just making photographs for fun and you like the extra money than I can imagine you might like the idea of going exclusive but if you want it to be more of a business I would strongly vote against it.

I don't know how to copy my stats and paste them here but I started in march 2007. My downloads this month are the same as in september 2007 (my worst month at IS besides the first two months) I must have uploaded about 500 images since september 2007.  So, not exclusive and going down, down, down.
SS is not doing too swell this month either BTW...

I would never have guessed that there are exclusives and exclusives :'(
I don't ever want to be exclusive because I like my independency and as it is my work for a great part I want to be able to sell my images where ever I like. Beginning of this year my earnings were more than 200 a month but last months they have steadily decreased and I''m lucky if I will get 100 this month. At SS things have deteriorated very badly this month while last month was my BME with $ 300+. Things do not look very well!

Alamy.com / Re: What works in Alamy?
« on: November 10, 2008, 08:16 »
I can't really say what works there but I have sold two images there since I started in June. One was a RF image of a medical procedure for a Hospital magazine (as I understood) and a Licensed image of a vintage postcard for a general kind of magazine. Total of 175,-  but it still hasn't been cleared although one has sold in august already. I don't understand very well what it is with the clearance and how long this wil take but I have to wait untill my amount earned is 250,- anyway.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: IS Changes best match Algorithm Again!
« on: October 19, 2008, 01:32 »
I already noticed that my downloads have decreased by 50% or more since then. It comes to the point I start wondering why I would go through all the upload trouble. Shutterstock is doing much better now. Alas Istock is my second earner. We'll just have to wait untill they change the algorithm again. Patricia

Thanks, but I don't see any link to my portfolio or my images. Or am I not seeing the obvious?

Hi, I just started at Alamy and I read that people can see how their images are doing. I still have trouble finding my portfolio but would also love to know how to find views etc. Anyone?
Thanks

Thanks again. I have tried to find a similar question on the forum but I don't find anything like it. I'll see what to do.
Thanks again.

Thanks, but I don't understand why I need a model release for a hand injecting in an arm. Is this really neccessary at Alamy?

« on: June 17, 2008, 05:15 »
Hi, I just had my first four accepted at Alamy and am now trying to submit them with keywords etcetera. I have a few  images with two people but no faces so not recognizable. I do not have a model release for them because that was not necessary when I made the photo. But when I tick 2 people and no model release I can only sell licensed. Does anyone know if it is a problem when I tick no people? Will this limit my chances of selling the photo?
Hope to hear soon
Thanks

iStockPhoto.com / Re: IS - sales slowing down?
« on: May 31, 2008, 01:09 »
IS has been quite slow the last week. One fifth  of the usual downloads. (contributing since febr 07). Bad month overall

This site from Sweden or Norway is new and wants to sell editorial as well as creative. They really emphasize the editorial part so I guess they will market it as well. They start selling next week on monday and they are superfast and they look great. Uploading there is a breeze! I guess you could give them a try. Yaymicro Good luck.

« on: May 14, 2008, 06:04 »
The last months I was getting used to selling between 30 and 35 a day and sometimes 40+ but this month is a disaster. I have sold half of what I sold a month ago. I am so sorry about this. I don't want to go exclusive, I want to be able to sell my photos where ever I want to and SS was my second seller. I really hope something will turn out for the best but with the subscriber prices they ask I am afraid  they have placed themselves on the sideline now...

« on: May 14, 2008, 05:56 »
I am about 750 from the 3000 and it should take me about three to four months to reach 3000, when everything was as it used to be.  With the current downloads I'm afraid it takes twice as long. This month is my Worst Month Ever. Half the downloads of last month so far. I'd  rather have no raise and the same downloads as I used to have. I guess the buyers must have run away very quickly with the new prices. Hope this will not stay this way..
