I have to say that after posting my problem here I got a personal reply from StockXpert via e-mail...the personal touch is always good for any business.  Yup, my account is active and I have started uploading...thanks!

I can't believe it.  I just submitted an image and it was literally approved in 30 seconds!

I have been waiting for weeks for this.  In the beginning I couldn't access that page and I tried several times.  You would think they would let you know!  Well, I guess I really shouldn't complain...after all, I'm in!

Thanks for the recommendation to go ahead.

The original "Artists Application Incomplete" letter is there, but no correspondence since.  And no replies to the two e-mails I sent them from the form on their website.  Nothing since Feb 28th.  Maybe I will try to upload one and just see what happens.

When I go to My Images it just says there are no images in the gallery.  I didn't know if the images you apply with automatically get put into your portfolio or if they have to be resubmitted after acceptance like at several other agencies.  Anyway, there are no images there.

Would you recommend trying to upload in this situation without having received any notification or am I setting myself up for trouble by doing that?

StockXpert.com / Problem With StockXpert
« on: April 14, 2008, 09:56 »
I am relatively new at this and a little frustrated with StockXpert.  I was accepted my first try at SS, IS, LO etc.  I applied to StockXpert and it took them 5 weeks to get back to me.....said they needed 'more information' to reach a decision (I dunno..is that the same as not being accepted..I guess in retrospect)...they didn't ask for any specific type of submission but just said to upload 5 more (that was after I contacted them at week 4 to ask what was up as I was wondering if they somehow lost the application).  So that very same day (Feb 28th) I uploaded 5 more and haven't heard back since.  I have sent them 2 e-mails from their website asking if there was a problem but no response at all....

I still have not heard from them and don't even have a response within the messages they can deliver directly to your account from within the website since my Feb 28th response.  However, I do notice that I can click on and access the upload page....I don't totally remember, but I seem to recall that originally I was not able to access this page...so I am wondering if they might have approved my account and not informed me.

I guess what I am asking is this:

Does anyone remember if you are able to access the upload page if you hav not been approved?

Any suggestions as to how to proceed from here if I can't get any response form them?  I hesitate to just go ahead and upload as I am sure I will be the recipient of their wrath or at least get the images rejected if it turns out that I have not been officially approved?

Suggestions?

In which case you would think that the micro-stocks could figure out a better pricing structure that would benefit everyone, photographers and the stock company.

I have often wondered about this, being new at this game.  Does the fact that you have an image listed as 0.25 somewhere keep it from being purchased for $10 elsewhere.  For heavens sake, I suspect that the prices are so * low that it probably wouldn't be a deterrent if the image were definitely needed.  It is one thing if a designer is collecting images just to have them on hand from a subscription service or for a general mock up, but I would think if a specific image is found that can be put to a specific use right away the $10 is likely such a trivial part of the overall budget that it simply wouldn't be worth the time to check other sites.  But then again, I really don't know a whole lot about this business...I am just envisioning the way I would act.  Does anyone out there know for sure if this makes sense or not?

StockXpert.com / Re: Initial APplication at StockXpert?
« on: March 17, 2008, 12:44 »
I applied with the initial 5 images and e-mailed support after about 3 weeks and got a response that applications are reviewed in 3 to 4 weeks.  At about 5 weeks I got an e-mail that they could not make a decision from my 5 images that had been submitted and that they wanted me to submit 5 more.  I got the impression that they were lost as they didn't say anything like provide a wider diversity of subjects or anything like that....no explanation of what type of more info they needed.  So I sent in 5 more on the same day.  I got the impression they would take a look and let me know quickly.  That was on February 28th...so it looks as if it is being treated as an initial application again.  I don't know, I am finding it frustrating as it has been going on over 2 months now.  I think my images are Ok...at least I got into iStock, SS, and LO on my first go round.....
