Peace done;)

Never expected a dime from iCock (and it's not that I'm getting any... to say the truth);) Yes, it is because I have only +/-15 vectors up there. Correct, dude! Wow!

p.s.: I know you've been trying to dismiss my opinions about VS (via the dissing of my iS work), but I gladly accept your wishes. "Thanks"!

28
Not saying the site is a machine gun sales-wise, but in my case it is in the big six of MSG. Right where iCock never took off.

p.s.: Leo, don't expect shooting stars, but VS sure does look promising.

29
Don't draw hasty conclusions, though. Vectorstock is expanding very steadily and the download ranking (compared to other sites) is way above the "up and coming" bunch. Way above.

p.s.: I'm sure for some even qualifies to the "big six".
p.p.s.: An advice: send in vectors with their "batch upload" option. Uploading them singularly has improved (IPTC migration and loading times), but is still leaning on the timeconsuming side.

StockXpert.com / Re: Overall, is it worth it on Photos.com?
« on: November 08, 2008, 09:55 »
CCaetano, it is. Especially taking into account how these bigger sized PPDs bring in per-image incomes easily compared to ELs elsewhere.

p.s.: And lately they're more frequent (at least in my case) as well.

Same here, lots of sub sales logged in and even one Photos.com PPD earning 15$ (marked as "super" size).

Crestock.com / Re: how long do they take to respond to payout?
« on: November 05, 2008, 04:11 »
In my case they pay instantly. Faster than the "bigger" players.

p.s.: And Crestock really is taking off lately. Lots of sales (still subs in majority, but turning upside down into PPDs more and more).

much slower in real work

Exactly!

Software - General / Re: my test: PS CS3 vs CS4

From what I've tested so far, the CS4 isn't giving me any noticable speed edge compared to CS3 (speaking of Photoshop 64bit). The GPU is used on the first 11 open files and its capabilities are not used only for filters. I think every layer/artboard is seen as a "poligon" for the GPU to lay "textures" on. The new improved zooming options are pointing to that. But I might be wrong.

And sometimes (tested on a E9300 + 9800GTX with 8GB of DDR2 - Vista 64bit) the whole processing part lags... even while doing simple things like zooming, changing order of layers, rearranging adjustment/filter boxes and so on.

I don't think I can afford to use it until they smooth out the whole user experience. Even if in some scenarios (filter application, startup speed...) the speed is greatly improved, the main features are slower;/

p.s.: A sidenote: I was shocked to see that Adobe didn't "upgrade" Illustrator to 64bits as well. Boy oh boy would it be beneficial to have more memory available with that vector beast of ours. CS3 stll suffers from memory leaks;/

« on: October 29, 2008, 03:46 »
Same here. 22 images not showing up in searches. I can see them in my portfolio, but the keywords are not working/logged.

p.s.: And to some similar extent the same thing happened last week.
p.p.s.: I think the week is lost and it's too late for this batch to yield what it's supposed and meant to yield on a weekly basis (since SS is mostly a 7-day lifespan war). When they show up in searches, I'm gonna delete and reupload them next week (hoping the same crap won't happen again).

Btw, I think the issue has something to do with "new" password entries in their database. Everytime I reset the password, I'm able to login, but when I change it manually via the profile page, it seems it just doesn't save.

Lately I do have strange problems logging in. Sometimes it works, sometimes doesn't. I reset my password one time and the new one was accepted, but then again after a couple of hours everything crashed once more.

p.s.: I keep getting the "incorrect username or password" message. Even tried with five different browsers with cleaned cookies to no avail;/

StockXpert.com / Re: Any Photos.com Sales lately?
« on: October 18, 2008, 03:01 »
It's a shame to see the Photos/JI sale stats not fixed retrogradely. It looks like two weeks of downloads haven't been logged at all... and I have a strange feeling they never will.

p.s.: Moreover from what I hear around, there hasn't been one PPD sale from the "extensions" StockXpert introduced with P/JI collections. Only subs, only subs...
p.p.s.: Steve, can you make sure ALL our sales will eventually show up in our balance?

Don't know how I missed the finally implemented GPU extensions. It will not only profit from multicore systems, but expect great improvements from your GFX cards as well. Splendid.

p.s.: Hope this crosses the whole CS4 (especially Illustrator and InDesign), not only Photoshop.

Yeah, love the new daily downloads bar under stats. And 123RF has always done solidly for me. Way ahead of FT, even if the later is spinning up.

p.s.: Even if the stats page isn't always in sync;/

Sharing pretty much the same experience as you guys with Cutcaster. John's dedication is unbelievable. Hell, he even answers to mails on the run. Not sure he sleeps at all;)

Keep up the great work, Cutcaster.

Finally the whole CS4 package will support 64bit systems and this finally means getting rid of those 3GB limitations that were just senseless for graphic design on Windows OS (wether XP or Vista x64).

p.s.: The same applies to multiple cores. Everything's going to be smoother. *, it has to.

New Sites - General / Re: New Vector only stock site
« on: September 07, 2008, 07:39 »
Agreeing completely that this sort of pricing scheme is low, but cheap most of the times means bigger quantities (SS being the prime example). Accepting vector sub sales at SS is pretty much the same thing (hell, buyers spend even less for vectors judging the amount of files sold at SS).

As things stand right now, I don't think VS' offering is overlaping those of other agencies, so I assume buyers are not dropping files on other microstock sites that offer vectors and finding the same contributions at VS. Time is just too valuable.

p.s.: As I said, I'm doing ok with VS and I don't see myself as being a top submitter by any means. Files sold through VS are an additional source of income and that's about it. And I should point out that I don't feel a subject of theft nor do I feel the industry is stealing from me. Not working hard and still earning consistently and considerably is a fact I can't hide. This applies to all the agencies, not just VS. At the end of the day earnings are what count, not numbers or per-download commissions.
p.p.s.: Nevertheless they do have quite a few issues with the pricing choices they make. Sorting the vectors by price evidently speaks for itself. There are just too many great vectors sold too cheap (I myself have felt that their price "tagging" isn't coherent). Hopefully v2.0 will introduce an easier upload system with more options for the buyers and the contributors leading to better sales.

Crestock.com / Re: Crestock payment ?
« on: September 07, 2008, 04:18 »
Crestock is raising and at least for me has already surpassed BigStock. Half a year ago sub sales were the only ones, now CS is kicking in with PPDs as well. Payouts are regular monthly.

New Sites - General / Re: New Vector only stock site
« on: September 06, 2008, 10:04 »
Bah, I've sold over 700 files (tier 2) with them amounting to two payouts in roughly two months.

p.s.: As far as I'm concerned, it's not bad at all. We already accepted the sub plans on almost every agency, so I can't find any reasons not to upload to VS if the earning are averaging those of BigStock and CS and far better than FP, MP and the likes.
p.p.s.: As far as canvas sizes are concerned, their 380x400px image requirements apply only to raster previews. All the artists submitting to VS usually add white canvas borders to the image in PS.
p.p.p.s.: Btw, they're launching v2.0 soon.
