My camera is set in sRGB photoshop is set to.... i really don't know what else  to do.... i have made a test regarding the images...  They are around -14 at color saturation compared with the original files. I work on a very capable PC with Nvidia Quadro graphics and a 23'' Dell screen.

What software is in the last step of your processing? is that PS or Lightroom, etc?

Coz LR has its own color settings, so if LR is the last step in your processing it will override the PS settings.

Photoshop CS5 Extended . and open the .CR2 files with Camera Raw 6.2 (PS CS5 Plugin)

RGB what?

sRGB or  Adobe RGB?

It needs to be sRGB.

I work in sRGB ... here are my Color space settings in PS. i believe the settings are correct

Off Topic / Inaccurate colors on all agencies
« on: August 29, 2013, 03:48 »

I noticed for some time now that the colors of images submitted to all major agencies (SS, DT, FT. 123RF ) are not identical to the original uploaded files. I find that even after the images were accepted the colors remain pale; i believe this issue is affecting my sales seriously.

Here are some examples on SS and FT ( the biggest earners for me)

What is more interesting is that on SS the images waiting to be submitted are showing correct colors and the images waiting to be reviewed are inaccurate. I use Photoshop CS5 and save the images in RGB.

At first i believe is just my PC but after checking the phenomenon on several other computers I realize is not  a hardware problem....

Any solutions please ...???

Photoshop Tutorials / Re: I need a good next level tutorial
« on: August 17, 2013, 05:58 »
Hey i need help with finding a good tutorial to lift up my photoshop. I take a lot of teens pics and i want to tweak them in a funky way which is in fashion now. But am really nervous re photoshop as i dont want refusals due to overprocessing. Does anyone know of  good tutorials?

Look on youtube there are plenty of Gods in Photoshop there with tutorials on every subject.

Yuri.... i have a straight question for you:

Are you considering to create a PUBLIC micro/mid stock agency, a direct competitor for SS, FT,DT and others ???

Certainly you have the name and resources to create such a agency with a huge chance of success.

did you not notice the photo above that spoke a thousand words?

Finally i reached .38 milestone on SS. It took me 1 year, 9 months, 18 days and 17649 downloads.  ;D 8)....

3 months to reach $500 , 8 months and 3 weeks for $3000

I hope the fun will not be interrupted by some sort of Bigstock targets.

General Stock Discussion / What's going on...?
« on: July 17, 2013, 01:33 »
It is just me or in the last 2 months every agency ( big 5) are way under average regarding sales and revenue?

June and July suppose to be good months but sales are at a record low compared with last year despite the fact my port increased with more than 40%.

Considering the trend that i see in the last months.... I'm interested in joining the Symbiostock; but i have some basic questions:

First of all I am 0 regarding IT. the only program that i know well is Photoshop.... so....

1. What is exactly Symbiostock?
2. You need to have your own personal site to join Symbiostock?

3. The images prices are set individually by the contributor?

4. You can join Symbiostock without a personal site?

5. You need to upload the entire portfolio on Symbiostock?

Some clear responses will be highly appreciated.

General Stock Discussion / Re: I Think I'm Done
« on: July 12, 2013, 04:37 »
I fully expect SS to implement the BigStock royalty model at some point, and great though the earnings are, if SS cuts my royalties, I'll leave them too.

I fully expect it too, and have said as much more than once since the Bigstock implementation. The U.S. has not experienced bear market in stocks since early 2009. The next time it happens, Shutterstock's shares will follow the market down. At that point, a lot of shareholders will sell in fear. Many of those who hold on to their shares will demand higher earnings to justify the increased market risk. And when that happens, SS will have two choices -

1) Ignore shareholders and let them sell, forcing the share price even lower
2) Placate them by finding ways to be more profitable.

It's almost always #2, and I think we can guess the easiest way for them to increase margins and earnings instantly.

I believe this will happen ( and will happen) when to many contributors will reach $ 0.38 . Considering that SS is a SUBSCRIPTION based agency.

Fotolia shows the $$ amount rounded. maybe you have 49.90 in your balance.

Dreamstime.com / Re: Have DT sales slumped?
« on: July 06, 2013, 07:08 »
DT is going down, down, down slowly but certainly..... in my opinion the biggest problem they have is the price structure. They are the most expensive agency ( after IS that is already down) out there... and the buyers can find the same exact image on other site at 25% of DT price.

I know if DT will drop the level structure ...that change will affect us to. But from my point of view DT sales represent a small part of my stock earnings.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock - Thinking of Joining
« on: July 06, 2013, 06:55 »
I'm currently exclusive with iStock but thinking of dropping my exclusivity so I can sell at Shutterstock. At iStock I sell around 40 files per week and take in about $200 which is WAY LESS than I used to. Anyway, looking at Shutterstocks rate schedule, I'd need to sell many, many more licenses to equal my income at iStock.

Here's my question, with the lower prices and subscription model, do you find that your volume is high but your commissions per file low? And for those who also sell at iStock and made the jump to Shutterstock, how do your sales compare between the 2 sites? Everyone seems to like SS, but the thought of selling my images for 25 cents a DL is a little hard to wrap my head around.

It's very simple.... if you have under 1000 files stay exclusive (the exception is if you have under 1000 very, very good files)... brake exclusivity only if you have a big enough portfolio or are you willing to sacrifice a huge amount of your time to shoot, processed and upload high volume of new images/designs.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Earnings in June
« on: July 01, 2013, 00:28 »
Overall June was a bad month... :(... way under average :-[

SS - worst month since May 2012, - 27% compared with may 2013, - 5% compared with June 2012  >:( ???
FT - relative good month, steady increase  ;)
DT - above average  :-\ , but DT earnings are a small part of my total earnings
123RF - bad month  :( , -52% compared with May 2013 ( the worst month of the year :) ),  but +45% compared with June 2013.
Can Stock - above average month, steady increase.

The rest agencies are countless...

123RF / Re: Has 123 gone haywire?
« on: June 18, 2013, 04:40 »
I am happy you are happy with their support. For me all that counts is $$$, and in that department they didnt do themselves any favors by lowering the royalties.

For a middle tier agency 123RF is doing fine for me regarding $$$.

the lowest 0.95 , highest 16.8. Still waiting for a big one  :P

123RF / Re: Has 123 gone haywire?
« on: June 15, 2013, 02:07 »
That is contributor support... no comment. A big + for 123RF... the best communication with the suppliers in the industry. Regardless the problem i had whit the agency/site/images was fixed in 2-3 hours max.  ;D ;)

Keep up the good work... and don't forget (like many others agencies) that we (the contributors) keep your business running.

Off Topic / Re: Dreamstime- Poor Sales
« on: June 13, 2013, 02:06 »
Like for like, this is a relatively good deal, especially for the small guy.

But it feels like a cheat.  You see your images climb the levels, and they dangle those nice returns in front of you, but the reality is that you seldom see them - the sales are mostly subs.  And they show you the size, giving you the added pleasure of knowing that your level 5 image just sold at maximum size, and you get 35 cents.   If you look just at the overall numbers compared to other sites, returns are typical, bu psychologically it's a total fail.  You can't shake the feeling that the buyer who wanted your best image at full size would certainly have paid a few dollars for it.

I believe the problem is that you, myself and many other haven't felt any love from DT, our portfolio never took off for buyers and perform poorly, maybe because of its quality/commercial value

while other have a 2/3$ RPD

edited: typo

I disagree... poorly quality/commercial value doesn't always explain why THE SAME images sells very good on 123RF and FT ( don't mention SS ) and poorly on DT.
In my opinion DT is constantly loosing market share While FT , SS and 123RF are gaining more and more costumers,

Off Topic / Re: Dreamstime- Poor Sales
« on: June 12, 2013, 15:58 »
Okay, please tell me that I am the only one that is doing poorly on DT? The last six weeks have been dismal. Maybe I am in slump ( I have about 1,400 images on their site)...

+1.... DT is going down for me :( and i have 1600+ images online there. I sell 3x on FT compared with DT.

They got back to me and said they purchased it from Dreamstime and are contacting them for more info. Of all the stock sites it was the one which has terrible poor sales for me.
So they didnt get the EL from DT then? Or do you have an EL sale on DT for the image?

Why would you need an EL for a movie poster? It's unlikely to be resold or have a print run more than 500K surely?

From DT's website;

"Using our regular RF license you CAN:

- illustrate websites
- decorate you home or office
 - create advertising posters, flyers, postcards and any other promotional material of this type
 - create unique interior designs
 - illustrate books and CD covers and booklets
 - illustrate magazine articles and covers or newspapers
 - create wrappings for different products
- create posters for humanitarian campaigns or social campaigns
 - create company presentations"

Case closed...  :-\
