Yesterday were reviewed 4 particular pictures... two of them were accepted and two declined. All four pictures are at the same resolution, object, quality. the reason for declined ones was: Trademark. not even one has a trademark sign/logo on them.

This experience can mean two thinks:

1. SS is using some sort of software as a filter before review , and the ''filtered''  images end up for a second ''human'' review. In this case the soft decided that two of my pics have trademark logos/brands and rejects them..... and the human reviewer accepted the other 2.

2. same bench of images are reviewed by multiple reviewers and one person receive two pics and another one the other two.

I can't find other explanation in my case.

An alternative to 300mm is the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM L with the 1.4 extender. in addition you will have IS.

Again Cannon have less MPixells than Nikon...

Canon 6D is a big disappointment. That why so many discussions about it on this microstock forum.

I wonder how long Canon can get away with their new "add a little and charge a lot more" approach. I love my 5DMII but that D800 is pretty tempting.

I know... if it wasn't the lens in the game i had switched the camera brands long ago.... to D800. Please microstock agencies give me 3-4 BME in a row and i definitely make the move.  :P ::)

yep.... nothing interesting.....

I think this camera will sell well.  It has no competition at the moment.  Street photographers will love it, that seems to be very popular at the moment.  Pro's that can't take a DSLR in to some places will want one.  It could be a good travel camera, for people that don't mind just using one lens.  I often look at the forums on dpreview and I'm amazed how many people pre-order cameras, knowing the price crashes after a few months.  I'm sure lots of them will be wanting this.

If they could make this with a built in electronic viewfinder and interchangeable lenses, I would be interested.  I'm pleased that Sony and Fuji are making different cameras from the usual Canon/Nikon stuff.

This camera is making Canon 5Dmk3 a cheap camera ( considering the $3500 launch price )....

You are right, Sony and Fuji only way to resist on the high end cameras market is to produce such type of cameras. But the $2800 price tag for such a camera i believe is far too much.

332
$2800 for a fixed lens camera? what is SONY smoking.

+1 :)

This camera is doomed before starting to be delivered. I believe the real price is max. $1500

1/4000 shutter - hmm i believe this is one important feature that make the difference compared with D800.

One very important + is for 5.5 fps.

I'm curious about the price....

I just did a little research and found this:
http://www.go-gulf.com/blog/online-ad-spending
Global Online Ad Spending By Region

Region              2010   2011   2012
North America      40.8%   41.7%   41.8%
Western Europe   30.0%   28.8%   28.0%
Asia-Pacific       23.9%   24.1%   24.6%
Eastern Europe      2.7%   2.7%   2.7%
Latin America       2.1%   2.2%   2.3%
Middle East & Africa   0.4%   0.5%   0.7%

So it shouldn't be any surprise that most of our sales come from outside the US. According to this about 60% of Online Advertising is done outside the US.

Off topic...
Interesting, my sales in Middle East and Africa are around 15-18% ( same stuff that is selling in US and Europe).

easy to say that SS way outsells IS. The thing is however IS limits uploads so most people end up having a lot more images in SS. With the changes to royalties IS only gets worse. IS used to be a great place to sell as an independent. Now it is just for a very exclusive crowd. I would not take images down but not keen on uploading. Still not sure how they sell an image for 8 cents commission to me. Alamy gave me more revenue over the last 30 days than the micros.

Exactly.... I am accepted as a Contributor on IS, BUT at a upload limit of 18 pics/week it will take almost 3 years to upload my existing 2000+ port on the site, and that without producing any new content ( don't mention the commissions levels). I know is not the best business plan but i still keep my decision regarding IS until something changes; and they can start with the upload limit.

Canon / Re: Canon 3D - 46MP ... maybe
« on: September 06, 2012, 02:19 »
I still wait for the entry level FF. I am not interested in body construction or speed; i want to use the camera only for studio work. For fast action , bad weather i have the 7D.

Back to the topic...

If the IQ of the newly rumored 3Dx ( which  i believe will be announced as a response to D800 )will be at least as Nikon D800 with a reasonable price, than Canon will hit the jackpot.
This camera is aimed to the landscape and studio photographers .... so, the speed is not a important aspect.

How does an illustration get a sensitive use license? I thought those only applied to photos with people in them...

^^^ Scroll back up to Reply 54 of this thread for the answer (direct from Shutterstock's VP of Content).

;D ;D ;D Ok, so where can i see the '' additional requests'' terms that volume buyers want, beside the sensitive use that is very clearly. I don't want to sell a image without knowing what rights are applied to that specific license.

Good question....

i really don't like this secrecy around this ''sensitive use'' license price, terms and conditions. They must be public like the RF and EL licenses.  :-\ :-\

General Stock Discussion / Re: August 2012 Microstock Income
« on: September 01, 2012, 05:08 »
The percentage of the income and pie slices  :

SS - 60%
FT - 20%
DT - 10%
123RF - 5%

The rest - 5%

Overall an above average month considering that Aug is a slow month due to the holidays.

Compared with July 2012:

SS, -20%
FT, -30%
DT, -50%
123RF, -30%

Overall earnings down with 25% compared with Jul 2012. But like i said considering that Aug is the worst month from the year -25% compared with my BME is not bad.

I had this week a single and other sale for $2.38 ???? The lowest for a SO.

have 1 today for 2.1$ (last club)

I believe they are regular large format OD with some sort of discount applied.

What i don't understand here is why somebody buy a image/illustration ( without people in it) with $480 and not using the file for sensitive purposes when they have the EL option for $100.

SS is definitely THE agency who keeps me motivated to stick with microstock for a while longer.

The OD this month above average, and recovered in terms of $$$ the lack  of EL's. Overall not a bad Aug.

Anybody else got this?  ???

I was F**ed pretty hard by SS regarding the vintage Public Domain designs/drawings. They did not accept them any more :( despite the fact i have written proof from the original books editure (that is still in business today) saying the designs/ drawings are in PD waved of any copyright.

I don't shoot editorial, but i believe (like in my case) this ''new rule'' will hit hard many contributors.

I still hope SS will not fallow entirely IS path regarding approving images criteria.

............

347
top earners:

SS - you can call this agency '' a really profitable business''
FT - good sales, revenue ( constantly rising)
DT - under average ( but still in one of the top earner)  it was a good earner but now is slowly going down.

Middle:

123RF - constant sales ( an agency with huge potential to become a top earner )

Low:

DP - low  sales
CanStockPhoto - low sales
Veer-  disaster

The one i give up is IS ; for 3 reasons :

1. PARANOIC REVIEW criteria ( rejected files for idiotic reasons , and the same files are starting to sell well a few hours after uploading them on SS)
2. Commissions cuts , and the search engine who favoring only the exclusive.
3. The idiotic upload limit.

Canon / Re: Canon 7D remote trigger issue
« on: August 22, 2012, 11:33 »
So does the camera take a shot and the flash doesn't go off, or the camera doesn't take the shot? If you have the lens set to AF and the liveview can't focus (I always focus manually in live view), then the camera won't take the shot because it can't focus. Try going to manual focus on the lens and try again.

Steve

The camera take the shot; the trigger does not work regardless if the lens is set in AF or MF.

The best way to photograph this type of concepts is to use continuous light. using 4-5 powerful continuous light units you can go with the shutter speed way up. look at the EXIF data 1/4000 shutter speed. only this way you can achieve that shutter speeds in a studio.

I have a continuous light kit with a combined power of almost 3000W using 9  5600K fluorescent light bulbs each unit and 60/90 cm softboxes. they are way cheaper than flash units.
