Not sure but it can be very possible IS, is in front, lets face it, every Joe Bloggs, exclusive at IS, can come and vote here, could be thousands for all we know plus all the ones casting dodgy votes. Really these polls should be for indies or else we dont get a true picture, do we?
Agree...

IS the first agency??? NO WAY this is possible.... like @jsnover say... maybe an independent pool for the exclusives is needed. Every indies on this forum can confirm that SS portfolio is earning more than IS.

if SS will implement the TOS per image, then they will open a new''market'' regarding microstock. i am willing to shoot sensitive subjects and selling accordingly.

And meanwhile at 123RF I've had images pending since February 1st....9 days and counting. Are they still dealing with "get your 150 submissions approved before it's too late" issues? Apparently.
Lucky you;... my files on 123RF are pending from 01-27, and i don't see any chance to be approved in weekend back to the topic....

Give me 300$ per sale and you can use it to promote porn etc as well
considering that $300 represent 30% of the whole sale ... ) i will make a photo shoot for the company for $500/image . Minimum 3 images... ....

Strange... i have some pictures with people in my port ( mot much)... but some of them are very suitable for sensitive publicity. i planned a few days ago a shoot regarding drug addiction with people where can not recognize the face (picture from the side , some parts of the face covered with hair etc.) . for the moment i will opt out . BUT if SS will allow to agree the use per image i will opt in some images.... but NOT all my port... NO WAY. Nik

You can either change it yourself or ask Fotolia to change it for you.
Thanks, I will ask FT to do this. to change manually 670 files will take a looong period of time.

Hi, I just got to Bronze rank on FT . the EL price is still 20 credits:(. My question is: the EL license price change automatically or need to change it myself

What i try to say is that anyone with an above average portfolio that is exclusive will earn at least 30-40% more after Max. 2-3 month after they dropped exclusivity. There is no business in the world without risks or financial delays.
That confirms my suspicion. As I do not have an 'above average portfolio', I'm best to stay where I am at the moment. Not to say that things won't change in the future. Thanks for your input.
by average port i refer to content not size.... course in microstock size matters. i believe you have a good port to do the move; except FT every other agencies accepts editorial.

Sue! the maths here is really easy. What would you rather have? 30 sales per day at 0.38c plus say 15 sales per day at, 2.85, dollars, OR, at IS, 10 sales per day at an average of say 2.50. At SS, its the magnitude of sales plus the extras like ODs, single-sales and ELs, in the end, I bet you would double if not even trebble your earnings at SS. Thats what micro is all about, plenty and plenty of minor sales.
You forget, as an iStock, exclusive, you get a higher %age; so even though they capped me at 30%, my average this month has been $3.70 per sale, and in December it was $4.01. Herg hasn't 'doubled or trebled his earnings at SS', and others I've heard about haven't either. I'm guessing that SS buyers want a much narrower range of subjects, maybe because only certain sorts of buyers have a need for buying subs (I know, it's not all subs nowadays, but still). As they don't supply dl figures, I have no way of confirming or rejecting my theory.
As a former exclusive, let me tell you my personal experience : - SS is earning around 60% of my entire microstock earning, ( with an average of 300 dls/ month , in 3 months of contributing with them) with an port of 620 photos. - DT around 20% (port of 1092 files ) - FT 15% (760 pics) - 123RF 5%( port around 730 files) I will never go exclusive with one agency again. In my opinion people that are exclusive with IS, DT or FT are afraid to go independent because they don't want to lose a big share of the income. I personally have lose only $50 in the transition ( lucky me). What i try to say is that anyone with an above average portfolio that is exclusive will earn at least 30-40% more after Max. 2-3 month after they dropped exclusivity. There is no business in the world without risks or financial delays. You want to make more money you have to assume those risks or delays.

Is it possible to "build our own" camera?? A la a Dell Computer???
I'll take ... - a 21MP APS-H sensor - 8 fps - Dual Digic 5 processors - Infrared controller flash (pop-up if need be) - ISO to 25,600 (max) - Sensor cleaning - whatever else....
etc.....
Just curious
Little off topic... The only way that Canon will ''beat'' the new Nikon D400 ( with in my opinion will be a better camera than 7D) is to use an APS-H sensor with say 21MP and the ability to use EF-s lenses on the camera at a 16-17 MP final resolution. 5DMK3 certainly will have a full frame sensor, and 1DX is FF also. At this point the APS-H sensor is not in use anymore ( except 1Dmk4 that will be discontinued eventually). I believe this will be the smartest market move from canon.

Micro stock industry was invented with the amateur and hobby guys in mind, nobody in their right frame of mind would ever dream about, that pros, etc would fraternize in such places. Nobody ever dreamed about it would get this big either.
Today its got out of hand and the main agencies will start to impose much tougher editing and acceptance of applicants, there is no room for diletans or generics anymore. This is a good thing and will benefit many of us, others will fade away.
Buyers wants micro and thats why it will survive but in the next couple of years I think we will see thousands of contributors booted out or made redundant.
Agree, The agencies will require more and more quality and brand new concepts. Many amateur contributors will slowly disappear. I believe in the near future our ports (at least on the top 4 agencies ) will be reviewed again and many of our old photos will be deleted.

Very good month on ; BME in downloads (subs and OD) but a bad, bad month in Extended licenses. So in terms of revenue not a very good month.
