The pics from Africa i believe is a 7D MK2 or a 5DX I vote for a 7Dmk2 without a pop-up flash and an APS-C or APS-H sensor, or a 5DX ( 5Dmk2 combined with 7D). If the rumors are true, 5Dmk3 with 22MP, than i believe we will see a new camera ( with high MP count) from canon in near future. 503

Adobe Stock / Re: Finally free of Fotolia« on: January 24, 2012, 03:14 »Having read a lot of bad press here about FT, I have decided to pull the few images I have with them. They were messing me about with the W8 BEN form too. I had filled it in correct but they kept sending it back with something wrong. Couldn't be messed wit it. Also, they reject far too much for my liking. Waste of time. Use the SS form to fill FT W8 BEN. I had the same problem and i filled the form using copy-paste from the SS form that was accepted. regarding the site, what can i say; over 100% increase in sales and revenue compared with Dec. 2011. 506

Dreamstime.com / Re: Is DT alive ?« on: January 23, 2012, 11:04 »I'm only uploading one or two images per shoot to DT. Not necessarily the best images, just the first ones I happen to process. The strict "too many simulars" rule is a colossal blunder. Buyers want to see more then one angle per object. They want to see more then one expression per model. They want choice and if they can't get it a DT they will shop elsewhere. I understand DT's pricing strategy but they should let market forces decide which images rise up the ranks... DT's market share is falling among the 12 sites I upload to. That trend will accelerate if they continue rejecting the same commercially viable images other sites happily accept. The ''too similar'' problem on DT is relative. i have uploaded around 8 images with a model (picture from the waist up) , dressed in the same cloths but with different face expressions... they were all accepted. if you photograph an object, model or landscape and change just a little the angle (but the same expression, arrangement, landscape) , the files will be rejected. i don't have any problem with '' too much similar photos'' on DT. PS: It is true that a good part from the reviewers are rejecting files unjustified. 509
Dreamstime.com / Re: Is DT alive ?« on: January 23, 2012, 02:14 »
I believe that the most harmful think for DT is the lvl system. Is a very good think for contributors but not attractive for buyers that are using credits.
...they have very high prices for lvl 3-5 pictures. 510

DT is in a constant fall for me...
Nov. 60% less than Oct (when i was exclusive) Dec 30% less than Nov. Ian. i estimate 10% less than Dec. FT is in a surprising increase ( already 100% up compared with Dec.) SS... no terms of comparison. I hope to be only a temporary think. 511
General Photography Discussion / Re: Eastman Kodak files for bankruptcy protection« on: January 20, 2012, 07:37 »Analogy: Railroads were king in America, but they were easily toppled because their owners thought they were in the railroad business. They never learned that they were in the transportation business. Likewise, it would appear that the Kodak folks thought they were in the film business, when in reality they were in the imaging business. I foresee a similar fate for the oil companies who don't realize that they're in the energy business, not the oil business. totally agree... 512
General Stock Discussion / Re: Portfolio acceptance ratio after dropping exclusivity« on: January 20, 2012, 07:00 »I want to share my experience on other agencies after dropping the exclusivity with DT (in my case). Port size around 900 photos and 100 illustrations: because i tried 4 times using the photos from SS attempt ( 9/10 accepted) and in the other attempts the best selling pictures from all agencies. I decide to not try again. The image reviewing criteria is paranoid, way too exaggerated. If i will try again harder i will be accepted but considering the IS demands i will get accepted probably 150 pics , and considering that i am independent and port size they will show up at page 50 - 60 in search engine. Just not worth the effort for 14% commission. 513

I want to share my experience on other agencies after dropping the exclusivity with DT (in my case). Port size around 900 photos and 100 illustrations:
SS - 50% acceptance (9/10 from the first attempt) FT - 70% acceptance 123RF - 90% acceptance IS - i never joined them. 516

Canon / Re: 7D for studio work...« on: January 15, 2012, 16:19 »every SLR camera, even a cheap Nikon D40 or an old EOS has great quality pictures at ISO100/200 i use 17-40 f/4 L, 100mm f/2.8 and 50mm 1.4 , and for certain details does not every SLR have good quality. Let put it this way: is 7D significant better than 40D (IQ and noise at base ISO? i have friends with Nikon cameras, 5D , 40D, 50D, rebels ,but not with 7D. i just want to hear the opinion from those people that use this camera model.... Canon / 7D for studio work...« on: January 15, 2012, 10:42 »
Hi,
I want to upgrade my almost 4 years old Canon 40D; my choice is the 7D; i mention that i will use it only with high quality L lenses, 40% for people studio work (portraits postures, isolated on white) 30% for objects, food, desserts (in studio, over various backgrounds) and 30% for cases where the 1.6 crop factor and 8 frames/sec is a huge advantage. I am not interested in high ISO capability of the camera above ISO 400. My questions are: - how is performing the 7D sensor in studio shooting people over white background? ( i am interesting mostly in image noise levels at iso 100-200 , the ability to produce sharp images and the ''problems'' with the hair over white background) - the lvl of details and overall IQ produced by 7D in studio is above average considering today stock standards ( SS standards in special)? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience, Nick. 521

I contribute on SS for 2,5 months , i have an average of 250 sales/month ... and only ONE file sold; that was in early December. I think they are rare as extended licenses on DT.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Moving on from IS exclusive« on: January 10, 2012, 05:14 »Because SS sells images like crazy. It's been my top earner for over six years now. IS never came remotely close to bringing in the number of downloads or the money.Out of respect for contributors, they really need to up prices. why ? they do not want to go on IS path.... Like in any other thriving business ...small price but huge volumes.... SS has become by far my best earner despite the fact i have half of images compared with other agencies. 525
