General Stock Discussion / Re: 123rf
« on: October 26, 2018, 07:55 »
They cut the commission rate at the beginning of the year .32 to .28 a download, they ran a similar operation with the rankings for everyone two years ago, where they changed the commission structure.

Overall you will struggle to sell with this company unless you constantly upload.

Personally I believe the commission cuts are all about them making more money, I have to say Adobe putting the commission rate up is a very welcome change to the greed of some of the sites who seem to believe they are the ones who make the money.

Designers I know have long complained about the quality of the images, when searching SS, at the end of the day quality will win out, this is why they opened Offset the Premium site.

Personally I believe that 123RF are having serious financial problems, first they change the banding for the commission rates then they cut the rates, this can only mean they are not making money along with sales going down, maybe they are about to go out of business.

Used to make reasonable payouts virtually every month with a graph just going up on the downloads, then like everyone else it just went down and down to one payout a year, even uploading loads didn't help.

They shot themselves in the foot with the similar issue, along with other crazy rejections, plus the website should be more modern in its look and feel.

Shame really as they are generally a really helpful company and seem like nice people when you communicate with them, and on the plus side there charging levels are good but again they have failed to modernise this structure.

Will be sadly.

I just got one too for $0.32. This was such an old download that I can't even remember it.
What kind of people are not ashamed to take back $0.32 after they used the image for a long while. I just can't believe this.

DT has the download date on file but they can't provide it for us or any other detail.

Same here, ridiculous. I have the same sort of nonsense now and again on 123RF months later.

Unbelievable that anyone can even consider uploading one version of this bookcase let alone 2,599 pages of duplicates.

I cannot understand what is going on, I have had files rejected recently for being similar and they are not anywhere near this crap.

It really makes me wonder if its worth carrying uploading to SS.

Where is the YTD counter I can't find it, I thought istock had stopped showing the daily downloads are ages ago, I find not being able to see what has been download and when extremely frustrating, if all the other sites can do it why cant stock?

At this point in history, I'm not handing my intellectual property to a Chinese company.

Good point, the Chinese copy everything and have no idea, or want to know about copyright.

The sales on DD used to be good, every month I used to get a payout then they slowly declined, even though I continued to upload the decline continues.

I believe they really have this problem of not excepting similar photos from multiple angles, etc.

Buyers often want a run of the same model of style for there publications, this certainly was the beginning of the decline.

They also protect there exclusives, even if the quality is not up to the mark, they rotate sales round so that everyone gets a chance, this is why you will suddenly get a few sales then nothing.

Essentially the rotating has got wider gaps in it, as there sales have declined.

They need to do something, the site needs a redesign as it is very old fashioned in its look and feel and perhaps improve the customer offer as well as the experience

Its like they have lost all interest in moving forward, shame really as I quit like them

It just seems to me that SS limit the sales, if its going well in Europe, they stop the sales in America and vise versa.

What is the point in giving a image away for nothing this is ridiculous, I have absolutely loads of them, I am at the moment so angry and upset to be rational with this.

I am absolutely furious.

Well the whole site reporting is complete and utter rubbish, definitely been put together by coders with management input, complete and utter crap.

I WANT SEE THE DOWNLOAD IMAGES IN REAL TIME with the revenue and date as on ALL THE OTHER SITES.

Looks like they really have no idea what they are doing, if they did then the transition to a new site would have been seamless.

Shutterstock, Alamy and Fotolia were able to do this, they must have some crappy coders and by looking at the latest ESP design it just looks amateurish.

The ESP Royalties section looks like it is going to be full of graphs, why isn't there a section showing each individual download with the earnings, licence type and date sold, all in real time.

All the other sites manage this, who the heck wants to look at a graph.

What is going on, I have no idea when I will be paid or how much or what images have sold and when.

Is this site about to shut down owing everyone money.

« on: February 15, 2017, 08:51 »
Why is it taking so long for this site to change over, SS, Fotolia and Alamy all did it with no hassle, when I click through to my portfolio, massive pictures appear on istock, these pictures are just far to big when you look through a portfolio some of the illustrations have bitmapped which is not good.

As a graphic designer I do not want to see huge images, I want it laid out like SS with a page choice of say 50 images, this site looks like the programmers got to design it.

Even the new Royalties page looks like a 5 year old got there crayons out.

Are we going to get a portfolio list so we can see what is going on, showing each image sale.

I'm not sure how much I made last month as this is not working, this site used to be the number one in the world.

Personally the whole site looks a shambles

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Input for a Getty petition
« on: November 03, 2016, 08:03 »
Please don't derail the thread. A petition will be written, and everyone has the choice to sign it or not. It doesn't stop you from deleting images or pulling your port, which are also perfectly great things to do. It's just another, public way to protest.

I agree with you whole wholeheartedly, the more publicity you can get the better, especially to inform the buyers.

Probably a good way to do this would be to send a Press Release to the top Advertising and Design Agencies in America and Europe.

The buyers would be very interested to know what is going on at Getty.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Input for a Getty petition
« on: November 03, 2016, 07:36 »
Personally I think that though a Petition is a good idea, the reality of the situation is that Getty is over indebted, it can never pay the money it owes back to the banks and hedgefunds and they will know this, they will continue to run commission rates down to virtually nothing, (this is human nature for the thick people in Banks and Hedgefunds) in what is a desperate attempt to wring every last cent out of the company.

The mentality of the company shows this in taking away there forum, banning the + in it, stopping the deactivation and the list goes on, non of the other sites have done any of this.

The site is underinvested in and has a terrible search facility apart from the fact that it is badly designed.

But in the mean time the market will change, lets face it the three biggest sites are Shutterstock, Fotolia/Adobe and iStock/Getty, all SS and FA have to do is raise commission rates and it is the end for Getty, SS and FA are just biding their time.

I expect Getty to collapse at some time in the future owing all the contributors and there clients money and there will be no comeback with a Chapter 11 filing, once they have lost total trust the others will pick over the remains.

It is a great shame really.

123RF / Re: RF123 Earnings page down for you too?
« on: October 18, 2016, 12:57 »
They have stopped the older version of Earnings page, which I thought was much better you could scroll through and compare against the rest of the month and it was in real time.

I suspect they did this to stop traffic to this page, thus cutting down on traffic costs from there service providers.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Contributor Site now live!

Thanks Matt for coming back about passwords.

What about commission rates being different on the two sites, Adobe Stock is showing a lower commission, so they are not syncing.

Like the clean look

Commission rates are the same. All images sold on Adobe Stock are paid 33% of the price paid. Fotolia subscriptions also result in commission of 33% paid. Fotolia credits sales are paid a percentage based on your rank. Please note that in your sales stats on Adobe Stock, this will also include your Fotolia sales just like Fotolia stats include Adobe Stock sales.

Is that where the disconnect is or is there another issue? If so, please provide specific details so I can check it out.

Thanks,

Mat

Hi Mat,

Thanks for getting back to me, I can see what going on its a bit confusing, the Fotolia site is reporting in credits and the Adobe site is reporting in pounds sterling.

Not sure of the correlation between these two sites in terms of money, but hope they are the same.

Many thanks

Roy

Very difficult to login it would not accept my Fotolia login, I created a new login and it recognised my email but asked for a capital letter for the login password. There seems to be a problem with using lowercase only, which is what my Fotolia password is, to say this is a problem from a major company like Adobe is an understatement.

Once I did login somehow after loads of rejections, I went to the Sales page and the download commission rates on the Adobe site are at a lower rate then on the Fotolia site, whats that all about?

I have asked them to fix it awaiting response, is anybody else having this problem?

I thought they were supposed to be synced.
