Sorry to hijack the thread,
is there any such thing as "Editorial Footage?"
maybe for even like soccer, F1, or culture celebration etc.. ?

definitely - most sites ask for model releases, and if they're not available treat the footage as editorial

oh great to hear that.. so it'll be more like journalism video?

Software - General / Re: Lightroom after Photoshop - not before
« on: August 11, 2011, 17:11 »
Regardless of the how-to issues, I think if you believe you have to go back to lightroom for something it would indicate you need to learn more about how to use Photoshop. I can't think of any reason to go back that way - I have both and am not dissing Lightroom at all, but its editing functions are a subset of Photoshop's.

Out of curiosity, what is it that you think you want to go back to Lightroom for?

yes I know it sounds a bit silly, I know the workflow, but to be honest, this image is an old image, that time my skill in lightroom is below basic. N I don't know is there any easy way as LR in photoshop to soften skin, whiten teeth etc...  :-\

Software - General / Lightroom after Photoshop - not before

I'm using both photoshop and lightrom, usually we use photoshop after lightroom for final tweak / adjustment. but in my case, I have heavy photo manipulation in photoshop that lightroom can't do.

however, after it finished, I feel like I want to adjust again lightroom.
the question is, is it okay? will there be any quality drop or sumthin like that?
any special trick?

I know some KL images are selling very well. I would love to explore some of the beaches in Malaysia one day.

I was thinking of Bangkok / Jakarta. The traffic jam, street hawkers, traditional markets, the mountain area with tea leaf pickers...
Those kind of shot, I can't get in SG. Maybe in my next vacation, I need to plan that..

people doing Singapore things... Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Malay weekend-long weddings.  On your next trip to Bali, do the same thing there.

That's what I'd do :)

this is a good idea... I think business people shot is already too many, not too mention those who have professional studio/lightings will have benefits.

But I can try on the culture side. worth to try! Thanks for the ideas mate! Are you from SG too? Is there any online community for image stock photographer? :)

General - Stock Video / Hybrid Camera for Stock Footage
« on: August 10, 2011, 00:29 »
I'd like to explore my possibilities to selling footage. My background was from production house, but I don't have big camera with broadcast quality.
My personal camera is Sony NEX-5 (I have Canon 60D but it's heavier than NEX-5 and I don't have shoulder rig :p )

I noticed there are alot of underground movie made with Sony NEX-5 on YouTube.
My question is, does hybrid camera like Sony NEX-5 has capabilities to do stock footage?
I know I have to change the lens with better one so it'll have  DoF (movielike).
But how about the sensor / quality / resolution etc from the body itself?

I hope someone can enlighten me before I start to shoot... Thanks alot guys! :)

The things race drivers do to win,
the things soldiers do to survive,
the things leaders do for their people and then,
there are things photographers do for their photos
AMAZING!

@Cogent Marketing
thank you for your comment :)
I thought I'll choose that motion blur image in the stn (that image sold twice at 123RF) cos it's symbolize the business and rush in stn, isn't it?
which are the other top 2 to submit?
thanks again mate!

I had once rejected by iStock, hopefully won't make the same mistake again...
Those images mostly had been successfully in fotolia, 123rf, bigstock, canstock & dreamstime. images had been resized for uploading process..
all comments, critics, advices will be much appreciated  :) :)

Thank You!!

My images are still under review for 2 months...  ??? ???
I asked them nicely (though they mention, we can't ask why my images are not online),
but at least they answered, saying that they're having heavy upload..
  ::)

Yeah.. I might 'use' my friend or my son, better not too involving some professional model yet at the moment. see how it goes.
I was looking for some research image downloading based on race / culture, but couldn't find any. I guess I will focus more on non-living object, more general.

General Stock Discussion / Asia's related images - good market?
« on: August 08, 2011, 02:45 »
Hi,

I just started on microstock world couple months ago and this is my 1st post here.
I'm from asia (Singapore), would like to know if you guys had experience / knowledge about image that related to asia, e.g.; asian model, asian curency, asian places, food etc. Are they good in microstock market?

So far I only tried my son as a model, and it's very slow. Is it worthed if I hire a model? Or only western images have a good selling?

Thanks guys!  :)
