Adobe Stock / Re: What's going on with Adobe Stock?
« on: August 06, 2019, 11:07 »
Yep, last month was about half of my peak, which was last November.
Yep.  We call that "summer."

Happens every year. People take vacations. Companies decide what to for the coming Winter season.  Nothing unusual.

On this can believe someone for whom this is the first "summer" in stock photography :)

Everyone more experienced can see its own stats during the years and will see the truth for this "summer". How many contributors doubled its portfolio and doubled the income?

Envato / Re: Changes coming to Elements bonus payments
« on: July 01, 2019, 10:00 »
I knew it wouldn't be long before they started ~ of course its so difficult getting anything accepted these days that I'm sure most contributors will have problems achieving these targets :(

As people have mentioned and also confirmed on that forum, since the bonus will be proportionate to sales in comparison to everyone (Wordpress templates, etc.), someone selling photos is not likely to get much of a bonus anyway (maybe $10?), even if you sell quite a few images.

Wordpress authors will likely get a nice boost up to $1,000 or so.

Probably more fair, but the nice ride for authors in small categories with bonuses larger than actual sales is over.

Bad news again. Are we (the photographers and videographers) guilty for the fact that in Elements the Wordpress themes are more sellable? No way to compare completely different products and markets! And even more to put them in competition for bonus.

I like the idea, but to be for each media type!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think 70% is too much?

You can now ask them to certify your best products, so that you'll ONLY get 60%!
Be sure to choose your best sellers for maximum damage.

(Not sure if this qualifies as "exciting news" since it's voluntary self-inflicted harm)

Shame on you! Don't cry about this 60% commission when your image is in curated collection which have its cost. In this 200 mln images as overall the curated collections is the future and 60% is still fair, look what the others do.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Clipdealer No Payment

I have to be correct and to say, finally i got my payment, but after a lot of emails as always. They sell, but why is this payment delay always, no idea....Hope this will change.

I can't upload via browser since the last half a month. The upload begins but stops without finishing and sends me to unfinished files but the files are not there.

Just can use filezilla.

Just to note, this problem stopped me of uploading since 2015 or 2016. I told them in email, they replied in two words "it's all ok, the problem is on your side". OK then...lol

I had one marked custom for .38 - what's custom about that?

I guess just like .38 in Single & other section in Shutterstock

While we are on the conversation of mistaken royalties - I find it curious that when mistakes are made, royalties are scrapped back seemingly quite quickly.

However, the times when I've reported someone who has stolen my images (and had sales with those images), I haven't ever seen the royalties from those sales.  The pirate accounts are closed but it appears that the royalties are simply 'absorbed' into the agency (not only Adobe stock.. all sites seem to do it this way).  Shouldn't those earnings be passed onto the photographers account?

A couple of years ago i was pleasantly surprised from istock. I found one of my images stolen in another portfolio and i contacted istock about this, on the next day(after their response) this account was suspended and after a week or two all royalties were transferred to my account, there were hundreds of sales as far as i remember.

Strange is that this is happening for years, seems like established bad way of paying contributors. Finally i always got my payments, but with bad sense of neglect to me as contributor.

Hi everyone!
How to make Clipdealer to pay? More than two months and many emails with no answers since I've requested payment from Clipdealer. How to get money from them?

Same story each time. I wait 2 months as you. Every time i have to send tons of emails in order to receive my payment. Why is all this? Markus, why?

It's disgraceful that Adobe do not give any details they just take our money.

Why do we have to pay for their "accounting error"?

An airline sells a ticket at the wrong price. They still honor that ticket.

We are just bailing out Adobe.
Not always.....the reason is simply that airlines face competition.  In the end who is actually going to walk away from probably the second best selling agency?

This problem will be solved if non-exclusive way of contributing disappear and we have to choice agency to which will upload exclusively and at every new shot to decide where, where and why there...
Be careful what you wish for if that happened there would be only two or three viable agencies who would hold the whip hand.

How? They will need images, but there is one image for one agency and i hold the image.

Is ok you are telling me there's some accounting problem and deduct some of the wrong earnings. But at least tell me how much was deducted, and which files.

I only had a small correction but it would have been nice to know the exact amount and which files in the email. Also, plain text with a link instantly screams Phising email to me. It didn't look official and I was ready to write it off.

possibly phishing. I hope so. Looks like the mails are send  en masse. Not personally addressed, but a simple "Dear #firstname #lastname,".
Maybe Adobe got hacked.  Last week also got some phishing mails from EyeEm and 500px.

Agree, but when this reflect the account balance become serious.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe/Fotolia earnings falling since end january
« on: February 14, 2019, 02:31 »
Same here, January was a good month, even the best month ever
Febrary is close to the worst month ever, just one sale  :)

I appeal to all who have small portfolios, do not spend your time of making conclusions about sales. Spend your time on creating new content and free your mind from sales conclusions, it's too early. Spend your time on analyzing what you have sold, not how much, again it's too early.

This month 1 sale and next month 5 sales, doesn't mean 500% growth. This month 1000 sales and next month 5000 sales, this mean 500% growth!!!

To me it's all about the collection and clients. This blockchain thing is on secondary importance for success. For now i see a good Premium selection and the website works smoothly, but we'll see what about the clients.

General Stock Discussion / Re: adobestock keywords?
« on: February 12, 2019, 09:53 »
Maybe somebody will call me crazy, but i reorganized the first 5 keywords on more than 10K files and still have a lot. It's hard, but i already noticed some sales on images which did not have sales or was not sold in the resent years. So to me it worth, i do it with 100 images every day.

Shutterstock.com / Re: no sell in USA
« on: February 01, 2019, 09:41 »
For weeks, no one from America bought my photos  :o

This can be just accidental case if you usually sell just 20 images a week(as example) and completely different case with 200 a week, it's important to have in mind the volume of sales when make statistical conclusions.

The big problem I see there is the volatility of every cryptocurrency, there's a huge risk $1 commission to become 1 cent just in one night.

The other big problem is that there has been no word that I've seen about any sort of marketing of the agency to potential buyers. If this is just a place to host your images with no marketing other than what the contributor does themselves, then I can't see what the attraction is. Marketing and sales generation is the hard part.

I don't see how they have anything to appeal to buyers. Their premium content isn't exclusive and is overpriced. For example, I found a large collection of images from an outfit called Mint Images that is also on Alamy and Dissolve (with the same content). Wemark's prices are much higher than Alamy prices for the same images.

What type of stock imagery buyer would prefer to obtain images where you have to deal with the volatility and hassle of buying tokens? What large corporate buyer is going to put up with this extra hassle?

Absolutely agree.
Just to add one more concern on the currency part, there will be currency conversion from WMK to ETH/BTC and from there to USD. To do so we have to go on exchange. First we have to pay fees on the transaction(inside ERC-20), then fees on the exchange and most likely fee for the withdrawal. With small amounts will be expensive, to hold for big amount is very very risky in crypto, because until the moment of withdraw this WMK can value hundred times less(or more of course).

Or $10...

Yes, a bit of gamble lol
