The big problem I see there is the volatility of every cryptocurrency, there's a huge risk $1 commission to become 1 cent just in one night.
Or $10...

Yes, a bit of gamble lol

The Getty animoto deal deserves a thread of its own, I agree.

This is like the getty google deal, or microsoft deals. Getty makes millions, we get nothing.

It is also unfairly undercutting all the other agencies that pay the artist.

They pay to the artists in most of the cases(lol), but almost nothing and that's the big problem. Most of the contributors prefere what Getty give instead of nothing when already the files are uploaded(after the hard work of uploading years back).
I've stopped uploading, but to be honest will not delete what i have there(for now). They know this is valid for most of the contributors and they use it.

Canva / Re: Canva "Good News"
« on: January 30, 2019, 00:17 »
Has Canva ever has an explanation for how 35% of $1.40 equals 35 cents?  I've had a few of those lately and am not thrilled to see a 35-cent commission on a $1.40 sale.  Maybe they explained that somewhere but I can't find it.  New math is one thing but I'm pretty sure they never changed the rules of multiplication.

Someone else said it was for currencies other than the USD, I can't remember where that was posted though. I have also heard of .90 sales that also netted .35

That was me. They do not change the prices and commissions, there are just a new currencies which appears in our dashboard as $, but it's not USD. We have to wait the new contributors dashboard and there will all be visible correctly.

I might be just plain wrong - but take a look at this:

What's the deal?

You searched RawFilms and those are the results from the search. What deal, what joke..

General Stock Discussion / Re: Cavan Images
« on: January 25, 2019, 08:44 »

I started submitting to Cavan (only about 20 images) but stopped because they have a 2 year exclusive hold on your images before they'll remove them from the site. I knew about the 2 year hold beforehand and thought I'd be ok with it but ultimately decided it's a deal breaker for me. Yes they also restrict out take images from the same shoot to be submitted elsewhere.

I also signed up to Cavan late last year, thinking it would be a good place to park my Stocksy rejects, and I asked about whether I could delete files and still haven't heard back.  it probably was in the agreement, which I only skimmed through. For now I only have 1 small food series on there. I really dislike their image upload process and I haven't been back to add more. I had hoped it would be a good workaround for the Getty "no deletions" rule, but apparently not. The risk of uploading a series, having 90% declined, and a 2 year lock down, is a real problem.

I did get accepted to Cavan and they accepted 10 out of 10 of my initial submissions, but some of the comments here have me hesitant to submit more.

Is Stocksy your preferred agency?  Can you tell me your reasons why?  I'm new to the stock world so whatever insight you can share would be appreciated.

Thanks.

what did I miss? :)

Well, the secret spice which push all images to look so "stocksy"-ish :)

« on: January 23, 2019, 02:26 »
It looks like Canva has a new layout and broke the script.  I'll look at it when I have the time.

Sean, they're now making a new contributors dashboard, don't waste your time with this.

133
I prefer by default to be shown Activity, not Top sellers as i know which they are and they're not changing every day. So if i need several times per month or week i can simply filter Top sellers, but what i check every day is Activity.

Canva / Re: How are the earnings going?
« on: January 21, 2019, 07:08 »
First time I've seen this.

Wonder what that is? Pity the royalty is still only $0.35.

This is from the new the multi currencies feature, but the dashboard shows $ symbol. The sale is in another currency not USD. They create now a new contributor section and all this will be fixed. They still thinks about its contributors, i'm one of the first there and really like Canva (except the Getty deal).
Is the new contributor site ready?

No, it will take a couple of months.

It looks interesting, but it need a lot more developing before to trust and use it. I searched for bitcoin and it shows me the word "bitcoin" with rank 0

« on: January 11, 2019, 02:30 »
Boy, are buyers going to be pi$$ed when they see these ads, think they are going to a professional site, then on the first search they have to wade through thousands of crap similars. What a waste of shutterstocks money. They should have used the $ to clean up the site.

I guess they rely on the artificial intelligence in the search. Instead of editors do decide which image to take, the buyers will decide directly with their behavior. I'm not sure my new quality images are seen from the buyers. There are maybe 100 million images which can be cleaned up fast with just one glance in a second. I would love to see contributors ranks on Shutterstock(on public).

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia Instant app earnings
« on: December 02, 2018, 23:32 »
Any sales you had via the Instant app are reflected in your main balance, the commissions were not differentiated. This is visible at both Fotolia and Adobe Stock.

Thanks Mat, I was wondering if I missed to request it via the app.

Adobe Stock / Fotolia Instant app earnings
« on: December 02, 2018, 04:33 »
I never saw(as far as remember) sales report from Fotolia Instant app in my Fotolia dashboard nor in Adobe, but i have sales from my mobile images there. Someone to confirm if this sales are included in our AS dashboard? This app is no longer available and i did not checked my sales there for years.

141
The domain now should be something like freewebphotos.com, i support new agencies, but free web usage is a stupid idea. I would recommend you to remove 80% of the images and start from that point with the best and nothing free! Find the top stock trends and put in front of the buyers face the best, on every top/trend keyword to show a couple of pages with really good content, if you can't do this selection this business is not for you.

142
It could also be because of the way your assets are key-worded as AS uses the first keywords as most relevant.

...thanks for the note but it was before like that with FT, so AS is using the same principle? Because for SS keywords order is irrelevant... they all arranged alphabetically... this is how I upload them to AS as well, never spent a bit of time to rearrange them, too much efforts... they still sell... :) Do you think it makes big difference in selling? :)

Yes the first seven words make a big difference at AS and no difference at SS.

If you don't have the important words first at AS you are missing sales and will often not be found in the search.

...yes, thanks, sounds horrible, can't even imagine how many good sells I have missed so far at FT since I never do keyword rearrangements... :) but seriously, is there any proof with some calculations here in the Forum or anywhere else that: 7 most relevant keywords on the top of 50 keywords ... versus ... all keywords randomly arranged ->> do indeed make more sells??? Just to have some estimate how many sells I am loosing? If there is a good number, if so, it will motivate me better to spend more efforts to do so... :)

I re-pass my port in AS and can tell you it cost me 12 sec per image to select top 7 keywords, so it's 300 per hour, just do it, it worth...

General - Stock Video / Re: Any ClipDealer contributors out there?
« on: November 19, 2018, 23:53 »
I have a lot of payments there and I always had to request payment first on the page and second to contact the support about this particular request. Sometimes they respond quick, but usually after delay of weeks. I don't know why is this bad practice to not respond emails, but finally i always get my payments.

Microstock News / Re: Onepixel stock new agency????Help
« on: November 19, 2018, 03:58 »
Low prices is never been good model for the authors, but following this logic should all of us stop supporting the subscription model too :)

Why we do not? Well it's because it brings us income. Ones Onepixel starts reporting regular sales(i think it will) the big part of contributors will go there. This is the reality lol

A lot of the big buyers already have its own collections of needed images, this collections are accumulated during the past 15 years and they have good source of images already bought. This old microstock buyers want as always to buy cheap, but now to not to be obligated to buy packages. I don't like cheap licences nor subscriptions, but again this is the reality.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Onepixel is now open for business!
« on: November 09, 2018, 20:36 »
The name of the game get played only between 3 agencies in still images and vectors, and 4/5 in the footage department. Everything else is noise and wasting time. Trust me with more that half a million $ net revenue in the last 8 years I know what I am talking about........The small agencies are really no competition for the big ones. Every second you loose with one of them you are loosing precious time that would bring you larger profits if you spent that times on the big boys.

To me the mechanics are pretty simple.

Let's say you choose to support OnePixel. OnePixel gets more content to sell -> Which can lead to more customers -> Which can lead to a bigger market share.

Now after a while competitors will have to fight back for that market share. So what do they do? They lower their prices. Agencies are not going to take that loss - so they lower contributor commissions.

Who looses? We do.

Only way we win (or at least maintain status quo) is by not allowing price dumping like that by simply not letting them sell our content.

On a side note: Yes 38 cents from a sub sale at Shutterstock might not be much - but more than 60% of our revenue from SS comes from enhanced licenses, on demand, or single sales.

There is more than one market even within agencies, they compete at all levels. The agencies are not the problem, they are not our competitors, contributors are, and there is no getting around the fact that they will hunt out every penny they can until it becomes unsustainable.  If you are a premium supplier it will not affect you, if not you're screwed and you might as well take every penny from anywhere and everywhere.

I have good percentage of my income from this "noise and wasting time" agencies and the upload to most of them is as easy as drag and drop the files in FTP. Where i spent a lot of time was iStock, i spent hours and days to iStock selecting keywords and synonyms with checkboxes one by one...and now where is iStock. Canva also could be assumed as "noise and wasting time" in its first days, but now is on the top. Finally of course there are so many agencies to which should not upload, but the things are not just black or white, there are many midtones which bring some income and those midtones blended all together can bring good income.

Yes, they sell images. Not too much as i would like, but there are sales. I have more than 15K images there, this is also factor.

Adobe Stock / Re: Important Fotolia Announcement
« on: November 08, 2018, 07:36 »
OK, I read through the thread (quickly, so I may have missed it). When I upload, the default setting seems to be to set the price at the lowest level. This is part of why I upload via fotolia vs adobestock, so I can adjust the price level up to my current level. Why is this not automatically default to the higher level since we've theoretically received the "raise". Is this going to be an issue when I have no choice but to upload to Adobe directly?

If you aren't planning to provide an app, can you at least work with the group that provides the Microstokr app so we can check our stats/sales via their app? I get my numbers from them now through my Fotolia account, but Adobe Stock is not even on the table for their app for some reason.

There are no price variations available at Adobe Stock. The cost is the same across the entire collection for a consistent customer experience. The price flexibility you have referenced is only in regard to credits based purchases at Fotolia. If you submit a batch of images through Adobe Stock and would like to have the prices increased for your credits based sales at Fotolia you are welcome to submit a request through the Adobe Stock Contributor Portal and we can take care of that for you in a bulk change. It's important to note that any files that hav,e gone 6 months or longer at Fotolia without a sale are not eligible for the price increase.

Regarding Microstockr, this is referenced in the FAQ I linked in the original post. You will need to contact them directly as we are not affiliated in any way. As a reminder, you can upload directly on the Adobe Stock Contributor portal using drag and drop, or through FTP. We also support direct uploads from Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic CC and Adobe Bridge.

Thank you,

Mat

If i understood correct every time when upload batch i have to request price increase. This looks to me unnecessary load. Will be very helpful to have opt in button for the price increase or some other way.

General Midstock / Re: OFFSET, image or series exclusive???
« on: November 08, 2018, 05:09 »
To me the best is Westend61, not just as agency, but also the people there are awesome. There you can sell non-exclusive to all top agencies, while submit on exclusive base in Westend61. And they have the best search presentation as they have the best collection at the moment. My personal opinion...

General Stock Discussion / Re: Eyeem
« on: November 06, 2018, 01:55 »
I usually sell on Eyeem and each sell is supported by a credit note with the partner site where it was sold.
the partner is always: "Partner License: Getty Images"

So, considering that I don't sell directly on Getty, it's fine for me, but I hope they will not distribute on other agencies like Adobe Stock, Alamy because a duplication on contents may result in a ban of me...

but by now I've never seen a sell from a different agency than Getty, and I hope that they will check is there is still something similar before sent to Adobestock...

anyway, Eyeem sends you an email every time they have included your pictures in Getty, so I hope they will alert me before any upload to other agencies too.

As you do not submit duplicate content to Adobe, Alamy... you should not be banned in Adobe, Alamy... It's the Eyeem collection there. I have a lot of images in Eyeem which are also directly submitted to all partners and i hope it's not a problem. Forming a good collections crossbred across the agencies is a fact and will increase even more in the near future by my opinion.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Eyeem
« on: October 08, 2018, 21:55 »
The big problem with Eyeem is that they have very poor automatic keywording and meantime no way to use my IPTC data from the images. About the duplicate content in Alamy, Getty etc. why you think the same images are placed on the same place in the search? That's the big reason to upload multiplicated images across same agencies, this multiplicate your chance same image to be seen from more buyers. It's all about collections...
