General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ?

empty streets,closed borders...

If that had happened two months ago we would be much more safe today, but as always the money and the economy is on top priority for the politics and for the strongest men, they are just too late, The UK do the maximum to delay even more all measures, so stupid...

Why do I only get $0.35 for a $20 sale?

This is another currency("a $20 sale") not USD, we explained this a lot of times in the forum, the question is why is this not fixed already one year.

The secret for success of Getting Started in Stock Photography 2020:

Just wait the big part of the stock photographers to follow this logic:
"Chapter I Don't do it
Chapter II How to get a good job at McDonald's"

and this:
"1. Build a time machine and go back to 2005
2. Buy a winning lottery ticket instead ;-)."

also this:
"Why bother"

and this:
"Don't Do It!"

also:
"Epilogue: Quit while you are ahead!
Prologue: I told you so!"

Edging upwards but nowhere near sufficient to offset the drop in credit sales.

With that rates looks like will do it within six months to a year from now.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Any sales at Picfair?
« on: December 01, 2019, 01:13 »
Better to get one image accepted and one rejected in Adobe with one sale instead two accepted with no sales in Picfair. I like the site, but we are here to make a business.
i agree with you but on the other hand, look at the ss thread what is going on and at the ss forums.many want to quit submit images cause of rejections and the moronic rejection reason.and also that sale you say its 24 p or 37 p compare to 20 pounds or dollars or 10 pounds now this guy said that he earned
and i said ITS ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE.i am not saying quit adobe and ss and post in picfair only

I'm not sure if it's an alternative this days anymore by my experience. My last sale there was 2 years ago. I had sales at 10 GBP prices and now have no sales on 3 GBP price. I always look for a new alternatives, but my standard on this is: The agency to report at least one sale per month per 1000 images on sale. My images will remain there as I don't see any problem with Picfair except the sales, maybe one day they will change the strategy and the things will change.

About average over here.

My favourite sale in oct'19 was $0.0006, the customer payed $0.00441 - its a kind of magic, when you can buy an image for <1cent ;-)

Don't spend it all in one place!

I got the payment for this year, got a bottle of Talisker, and yes I did spend it all in one place.  8)

I hope it was 18 years old :)

Limited edition Game of Thrones, NAS. But it's good. House Greyjoy Talisker Select Reserve Limited Edition. I buy limited edition scotch and sip some, then put the bottle in the collection. Oldest is 1988 unopened sherry cask, most expensive is some Ardbeg Supernova 2010.

Awesome  ;)

That's all I have to say, people here are giving them lots of credit, but I'm going to say it.
Pond5, Shutterstock and Videohive are far better performers for me personally.

Not sure why or how you guys are doing it there? (I'm using the same keywords from Shutterstock / Video / P5)

In Adobe the order is the most important factor. Try to use in first 5-7 places the most relevant and important keywords.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Good news from Creative Market

Stop selling there and don't put up with this money grab. Their prices are terrible anyway.

You say it's "money grab" when they give you 60% commission, waw

About the prices, you place your prices. I'm not sure you've been ever seen the CMs website.

Effective December 10th, Creative Market's Commission will increase from 30% to 40%, and Certified products will no longer have a different Commission from non-Certified products.

Enjoy!

I enjoy it. The bigger part of my income there is from Certified images and in this case I'll have positive balance from the change.I think the clients likes "Certified", I had a case when a client forced me to certify an image in order to buy EL, I tried to explain that Certified or not this is the same quality image, but no, she insisted to be Certified lol

Really notable increase of RPD, more Premium sales. I'll expect with interest the November report.

New Sites - General / Re: Is PressFoto dead or alive?
« on: November 18, 2019, 08:44 »

It seems that they are done with this platform and work on the next project, according to the details in the e-mail, called  Everypixel. At the moment only Beta version available, seems to be 'super-search-engine' over 18 agencies.
https://www.everypixel.com/microstock

If this become successful it will force the agencies to lower the prices in order to be competitive. This on one hand, on the other hand will force the contributors to exclude some agencies from support (but as we know this is difficult to happened).
Also this can bring the personal portfolios (websites) in the game of prices and here we'll win always lol.
And overall we talk again about one more factor for lowering the prices.

66
It was better when they show us the Lifetime and Weekly positions on the same page.

Yes, that's a simple thing, also to me there are some other things that could be improved for us.

67
Adobe Stock is crashing and burning.

I've been doing this for years.  I'm in their top 100 contributors.  And my earnings are down around 60-70% from LAST YEAR.  Note that my position in the top 100 is virtually unchanged from the past year, meaning that most other top contributors there must be experiencing the same.

On the other hand, at Shutterstock, my earnings are roughly the same from last year.

same here, top50 2015-2019 and still on the same position but the earning are down between 60-70% from last year and from week to week a little bit more down :/

No! Adobe Stock is NOT crashing and burning. I guess you mean your top position in "Lifetime", but your weekly position is dropping. Is that right? This mean just that there are others who sells better this days. If your weekly positions was unchanged and your income decreases this could mean Adobe is "crashing and burning", but I think this is not the case.

New Sites - General / Re: New stock site SCOP.IO
« on: November 13, 2019, 23:42 »
Are they effing kidding the contributor has TO PAY to remove their own images??!?!

What a crock of  sheeite

"If Contributor wishes to remove one or more Images from the Company Website it must notify Company in writing of the images that it requires to be removed and pay to Company the prorated Fee (multiplied by two (2) times the prorated Fee) for each Image that is removed. In the event Contributor requests to remove more than ten (10) Images from the Company Website in any calendar month, Contributor shall pay Company three (3) times the prorated Fee for each additional Image that is removed in that calendar month. "

Would be fair we to get fee for each contributed image and then when in case we remove image we'll pay "to Company the prorated Fee" reciprocally lol

Newbie Discussion / Re: Is 500px worth the time?

Anyone with a big sale recently?

Yesterday $31.50 from Getty. Overall to me 500px is absolutely worth.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Adding an agency: Depositphotos?
« on: November 09, 2019, 12:59 »
Submit, test and after a year make conclusions. Every portfolio can have different results in same agency, just try to see. To me Depositphotos in terms of sales potential is obligatory agency for contributing.

Also it's still ridiculous to make two extra clicks every time you check your latest activity.
What happened?

This is the most important for all contributors for sure. We need to see LIVE sales on the page, no refreshes no menus, clicks, no complications. In Shutterstock I have one tab for it opened and I just look at that tab to see my sales in real time on the map, just a perfect.

72
Is something supposed to happen?  I got a confirmation on the page, but it just cleared the fields and stayed there, and I didn't get any email or anything.

And I was wondering about this.

73
Of course Getty wants to migrate all their buyers on to the premium access model, because profit seems to matter more to them than total sum.

gazillions of new contributors join daily to submit gazillions of new images

...but a big part trash images

I'm missing the ranking system, the sales data on each image shown on public...

but I don't miss the difficult upload method in Fotolia...

Forget Depositphotos they only give 30 cent sales never anything higher and the volumes of sales are too low.

Plus you can't delete your images you can only deactivate them.

I have 1500 photos with them and made $400 in 5 years  :'(

Dreamstime are hardly any better in terms of sales however you do tend to get somewhat higher amounts per sale but not often.

I made $1000 in five years with over 2000 images.

Not true, there are sales up to dollar or two, yes less often, but there are. Just to be correct. (There are also sales 0,16 and 0,19 ..)

Not true you say?

I just stated the facts from my experience and for Depositphotos I never had a sale over 34 cents

That's OK if you mention your experience, I just say that they have higher sales for sure.
