Hell no. It is a lot easier and much faster to take a good series of pictures and videos with a camera than to do stuff with ai.

At least for me.

You keep saying that. May I ask why - If that is indeed so - you keep adding thousands and thousands of AI image to your Adobe port? Wouldn't it be much easier and faster to just take real photos, according to yourself? Why do the extra work?

Anyone else's review times are screwed up now? Today, in my to-be-reviewed tab, my oldest illustration now say "submitted over a year ago" and my oldest photo "submitted over 2 months ago".

From the cotributors point of view it makes sense, but from the customer's point of view it doesn't make sense. For them only the end result matters. They want an image that suits there need and it doens't matter to them how much work the image was to the contributor.

Even now different photos take so much more work. I have photos in my port that took me literally 5 seconds to shoot, and photos where I spent lots of money on props and easily 20 minutes setting up the scene, one hour taking the photo (especially with pets that you can't just place easily like you want and often have to try over and over again till you get what you want) and 20 minutes post-processing. Yet both images are sold for the same price.  It doesn't really matter to the customer. If you want to be paid per time/effort, then microstock, where everything is offered at the same price, isn't the best business model for that to begin with. It's not like assignment jobs, where a customer tells you what he/she wants and you say "This will take me x hours and therefore I will charge you X amount of money".

DT doesnt use the description or subject from meta data

For me it does.
I have embedded titel, description and keywords in my metadata and all I have to do with Dreamstime is select the category. That's why I do not understand why people here say the upload process was compilcated. It was even easier when they auto-detected the categoeries, all you had to do was click on submit, but unfortunately that does not work anymore.

Down 100 spots since Monday.  I feel depressed now.  But nobody here ranked higher than me in photos?  My main thing is stock videos.  I thought most here were doing better than me in stock photos.  I don't sell videos on Adobe Stock because I'm Pond5 Exclusive only for videos.

Rank 1080 here.

I think most of the contributors with ranks between 0-500 are probably not individual contributors anyways, but mass production companies with employees like Africa Studio and you will not find them posting here.

Adobe Stock / Re: 2023 Adobe Stock contributor bonus plan details

Mat, will the double plan-issue be resolved or is getting two plans and cancelling one the permanent solution here? Just asking to know whether I should wait with redeeming the code.

Quoting myself to bring this up again, since I didn't see a reply.

For now, I recommend contacting customer service via adobe.com for assistance. They should be able to provide you with a replacement code that will extend your current subscription.

thank you,

Mat Hayward

I seem to have worded my question poorly, as this wasn't what I was asking.

I would like to know whether I should hold off redeeming the code to avoid this problem alltogether and whether Adobe has any plans to fix it in the future. If the problem will still occur in a month, because no one is bothering to find a fix, then it makes no difference. If Adobe plans to fix it, then I'd rather wait instead of going down the frustrating customer support route.

My expectation is for a fix to be in place. If you can wait, please do so.

Thanks,

Mat

Thanks Mat!

Adobe Stock / Re: What's your weekly ranking and how many images?
« on: February 26, 2024, 08:42 »
You do not have a rank when your ranking is higher than a certain number. I think it was 40.000.

I still do not really understanding how ranking works.
I have a slightly worse weekly ranking than blvdone, but more downloads, so download number does not seem to be the (only) factor. Maybe revenue?

My illustrations are accepted at times overnight, other times in 4 days.

It's 4 days now for my re-submited illustrations, still no review, and also still no review for the illustrations that have been waiting for over 2 months,
I guess Adobe just hates me.

One question I have is that why would people sell AI images on stock agencies because if I understand correctly AI images can not be copyrighted?

No, I think you misunderstood something. There was just a ruling in the US where the copyright office denied copyright to some AI created comic. But the US is not the world - despite what some people think - it's just like 4% of the world population and whatever a judge decides in the US, has no consequences to the rest of the world.
Other countries made different decisions or no decisions about the issue at all.

Might be worth trying, many people reporting illustrations being accepted within hours.

I tried it yesterday. At least 24 hours later it's still not reviewed.

Anyone was able to get payment sucessfully by now?

ai illustrations go through quite quickly, but ai photos now around 2 weeks.

Just gotta love how Adobe treats all their contributors differently. For me AI illustrations have been waiting to be reviewed for over 2 months now.

Is that also for newly uploaded content? Because I keep reading that new files breeze through while older once are still waiting for review?

Might also be spring easter related, that some files get pushed faster.

It's older content, I haven't submitted any AI illustrations in weeks.

Canva / Re: Canva Tax Forms
« on: February 20, 2024, 14:11 »
So how much taxes do Canva withold. I remember filling out tax form and it should be like 5% yet I got 30% less from my monthly earnings?

"Withholding Rate
Royalties - Copyright: 5.0%"

From the contributor agreement:
"Canva will withhold a percentage of Contributors royalties and submit the withholdings to the Australian Tax Office (ATO). The rate of withholding taxes is typically up to 30% but will depend on the country where Contributor is registered and whether or not an applicable tax treaty exists between Australia and Contributors country of registration."

Anyone heard of Nightshade?  Any thoughts ?

Thanks
Cat

I haven't tried Nightshade, but I tried out Glaze, a tool that alters pixel data and supposingly works very similar to Nightshade - can't confirm, as I have just tried out one of them, but I have read in articles that they were similar-, and the result were not good. You could see there was something wrong with the image, it looked like very poor quality.

43
I opted out the moment the option became available. Still got a small "contributor fund" payment just last month.... ::)

I can already see some weird glitches in their homepage video examples: legs/feet that switch position in passing pose, horses walking funny, cars that pass shadows on the ground but the shade doesn't translate well to the top of the vehicle...

...Also, their "adorable dalmation looks through a window on a building on the ground floor" video doesn't actually show a Dalmatian dog. Dalmatians don't have black eye masks.

47
Ai photos are very successful and popular, this will happen with the video too, just watch.

I don't doubt that.

I completely agree that most customers don't care. 99% of my photos end up being used in small size online. No one can really tell the difference whether it's an AI photo, a full frame camera photo or a mobile photo in small size.

Just wanted to correct a wrong statement. Mobile phone and full frame camera photo quality is worlds apart. Might not be what customers care about, but it still is what it is.

48
Everybody has mobile phones with excellent image and video quality.

And still people buy our images instead of making their own.

Mobile phones certainly don't have "excellent image quality" compared to a real camera. There are worlds between these qualities.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: November Statements ready.
« on: February 17, 2024, 01:19 »
Again, almost the same (mediocre) amount as every other month for the previous year.
Really don't get it.  iStock didn't use to be like this in the past. There used to be severl hundred of $ differences between a good and a bad month, now my earnings only differ by +/- $30 each month.

50
Here is the same image used in an article from 2019, so definately not AI generated: https://medium.com/top-app-development-companies/is-any-specific-way-to-increase-the-profit-margin-in-mobile-app-development-d76abcbc7224

I think this Hamdan is just a thief who can't even be bothered to actually generate images with AI, just steals real photos from other people.
The other images in his port are stolen as well.
