can't get my ftp uploader to work. Minnesota, USA

Me neither, that's why I came here to check if anybody else has the same problem. I've used web based uploader today. That one works...

SS is feeding us for all this many years, cant we say thank you to them once in a while?

Some people seem to wait for the occasion to complain.... and feel quite happy about it.

It's so obvious that both Josephine and Dreamframer are from Shutterstock.  ;)

Lol, I don't know about Josephine, but I am certainly not. If you look at my old posts from few years back you will see that I was complaining about them a lot. I just realized now that nothing really changed regardless of all the complaints. So, I guess I realized they know what they are doing since they are just growing... at least so far. I submit to 14 agencies, and I always advised people to do the same. Submit to as many as you can because you never know what agency will start going down or up. I also learned that complaining and writing dramatic posts never lead to anything else than more drama. Things will go their way want it or not.

I am submitting to SS since 2008, and the only thing I see is growth. As long as I remember, SS was one of the agencies people criticize the most, but somehow they always hold a place of a bestseller. I didn't upload a single photo from 2010 to 2016 and my sales almost didn't drop at all. So, I believe they know what they are doing and I don't see them losing a battle anytime soon.

Regarding website problems, it happens, it's nothing unusual.

Not bad, how many $k per month?!?

With only a couple of hundreds of photos in a portfolio an average photographer like me will rather talk about hundreds, not thousands. But, the fact is that the income from SS was consistent throughout those 5 years even though I was sitting doing nothing about it.

Ha, ha.
And we all fell from the tree...
 :o

I was just pointing out that even though I didn't upload a single photo for 5 years my sales were consistent without any drop. I couldn't upload anything because I moved to USA on VISA that was not allowing me to work on any other source of income other than the company that sponsored me for VISA. So, in these 5 years SS was still the best seller for me with no significant drop in sales, despite the fact that their database grew more than 10 times and the numbers of submitters grew even more.

Come on people, every website can have problems. It's not the end of the world.

Lol, I just saw I sold one. I didn't check Alamy for some time, and I got so excited. But unfortunatelly, my sale was only $100 big :)

I just checked my BigStock account, and I found that I have 70 dollars more than yesterday?? But there is no any image sale report, or any referral earnings posted. I asked for payment, and they said thei will send it. :)

Yaymicro has always been fair. I advise everyone check your "request payout" section in the profile. Some money could be waiting there even tho you don't see them in "sale statistic" section.

Wow, I was totally surprised this morning when I discovered that I have a payout! I was always checking only "sales statistics" page, and today my friend told me to checkout "request payment" page. Then I saw I have a nice payout sum :))

This is very distressing to hear Ivan.  It sounds like that has the potential to be quite a problem for people in EU and for people sending them money.  Have you contacted them to see if there is some sort of workaround?

Yes Lisa, I contacted them and I just received their reply. It goes like this:

"Dear Mr. Paunovic,

Thank you for contacting Moneybookers customer service.

We would like to inform you that you can send and receive funds from merchants registered in the United States of America, also we have now launched our digital wallet for US end customers so you can also send and receive money from any account registered under Moneybookers Inc. entity.

If the receipient is not sure if he falls into that category they can always contact us via our support centre or us-service@moneybookers for further assistance.

Best regards,

Chris
The Moneybookers Team."

So, it seems that I couldn't make a transaction simply because my account is a regular one. Now I just don't understand this part: "also we have now launched our digital wallet for US end customers so you can also send and receive money from any account registered under Moneybookers Inc. entity.". I have to ask them about it.

65
It wasn't an email. I tried to make a transaction from my American bank account to Moneybookers, and then I saw the message saying that Moneybookers discontinued transferring money from American users to users in the EU.

66
Looks like only I use Moneybookers. Maybe that's why they cut off the service :D

67
So, Monebyookers just informed me that they won't process transaction between American and European users anymore. :(
I wonder how will people from countries that don't do business with PayPal receive their earnings in the future.
Are there any good alternatives for sending money from USA to EU?
Ivan

No. It's a personalized product. They're just using your image to illustrate what a 'family' postcard might look like. The customer uploads their own family portrait (or whatever) and the product is printed with their own photo.

Yeah. Well, than it's OK.

I found my photo printed and sold as a postcard on this website:

http://babiesrus.einvite.com/product/PUT-BBU-KENS/?Cobrand=BRU&Site=Brujo&vk=1777211146

There can be made an order only in large quantities, so you can't buy one postcard and sen it. It's basically a wholesale. So, I was wondering, if the company needs to pay an EL for something like this, or not?

Viruses have their role in evolution. They are basically fragments of DNA (or RNA) surrounded by protein shell, and they act like they are not alive when they are not in the cell. But when they touch the living cell, their protein shell makes sort of a molecular link to the cell membrane, and it brakes apart allowing the DNA or RNA of a virus to enter the cell.
Than, this foreign DNA or RNA acts like any other DNA or RNA in the cell, multiplying itself using cell mechanisms. Viral DNA and RNA also carries information about the protein shell that has to be made in order to protect future viral DNA or RNA when the cell dies and releases thousands or millions of new viruses.
Some of the viruses enter the cell nucleus, and implement them selves in the DNA of a host, which means they become a part of our DNA. Then, they are able to stay there for months or years, until something wakes them up, and they start to multiply. This is how HIV virus works. It stays quiet in the heart of the cells, waiting for something to wake him up, and then it starts it's multiplication causing AIDS symptoms.
Viruses are basically small groups of genes, and they act like that. That's why, sometimes, viruses that implement themselves into bacterial DNA are able to make those bacteria different than the rest, uninfected ones. Some strains of bacteria were born this way, and they looked different, and acted different than the original bacteria that weren't infected. Theoretically, the same can happen to higher organisms, like we are. Many of us carry herpes virus, and maybe, once it will cause some mutation causing some new attribute in an infected person.
But in most cases viruses are harmful, and organism tends to destroy them.
I am not sure, but I think this new medicine is able to stick to the cell membrane of infected cells, causing cell destruction. That's because infected cells always have certain proteins on their membranes that mar them as infected cells. The problem, until now, was the fact that these markers on the membrane look different related to different viruses that are in the cell. I am not sure how they managed to make a substance able to recognize these markers in such a universal way....
I also see one thing as a problem. Imagine if you have a flu, and your lungs are seriously infected, and you take a medicine like this. It would destroy all infected cells in your lungs, and you will probably suffocate. Will the proper dosage solve a problem like this? I hope they know better than we do

Another sensational news. New antiviral drug capable of destroying every possible virus in a living organism. Even AIDS, Ebola, Rabies, and other...

LOL, ok, it's not 500 years. It is basically possible with today's technology...

Oh really? Could you at least vaguely discribe to me the technology the allows us to contain and store any significant amount of anti matter? Just so you know, even handling pure hidrogen is a big problem...

Just a simple magnetic field is able to keep antimatter in a container. The electric power needed to produce and maintain such a magnetic field is completely achievable. I mean, it's possible today, and it's even not so expensive. Antimatter particles are electrically charged, and they act like any other "matter" particles.

"Just a simple magnetic field is able to keep antimatter in a container."

:D What if not? Are you ready for the bang? Can you elaborate a bit, how strong that field should be to contain stuff floating thru acceleration (remember it keeps its momentum...). What are the mechanics of something like that, huh?? I'm sorry I don't want to be rude but you seriously should start reading some science books, not tabloid news. Some more popular-istic stuff will do, try 'The emperor's new mind' by Roger Penrose for starters and talk to some engineers about how 'simple' things like that really are... like the ITER project f.e.

Wow, :D you are telling me to read more science books. That's the only thing I read. Of course I know it would be a big boom if antimatter escapes from the container. But basically, if you keep the power on, it can't escape. You sound like those people who couldn't believe that nuclear power can't be controlled. Of course we all know that any nuclear plant will make a disaster if we stop to cool down the reactor, but we still have nuclear plants. Also, the amount of antimatter that can be collected around earth is measured in nanograms, and it doesn't have to be brought down to earth. Nanograms are not enough to make a disaster on Earth if the ship is far enough.

what happens if your traveling at near the speed of light and you hit a speck of space dust  or a fragment of an asteroid etc. I'd like them to work that out before I buy a ticket.

The same thing that happens when you travel at today's speeds, and some tiny rock hits you. Those rocks sometimes travel 50 miles per second, which means they are many times faster than a bullet. :)
Not the same, as speed increase, the amount of damage that a small particle can do magnifies.  It would be like flying through bullets with only paper to protect you.  Then there's the radiation, that will also kill people travelling vast distances through space, unless they use heavy shields and that makes it harder to go fast.

Correct. When I said "the same" I meant, one would die one way or another. The only good thing is that Universe is really empty so much, that even asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter don't pose a threat to our probes sent to outer Solar System.
Anyway, I wouldn't want to be the first one to try.
