Im out as far as the partner EL has gone. Ive just emailed them back asking for my 42$ and for them to close my account. I have lost all trust and faith in DP

352
I have finally got an answer from DP about this cheap EL. Im not going to release what i know publically. However, if anyone really wants to know then either email them or pm me.

353
No response from my email request to DP this morning. Im getting very wary now of whether i should be uploading

354
I have sent them a email asking for the exact details of this license, once I hear back I will repost here. At the moment, I am seeing it as an unfavourable option. This allows them to buy a cheaper EL, provided that it is for one use. Lets say they want to sell tshirts with one of our images. A white tshirt only could use the cheaper EL, but if you want to have white, yellow and blue tshirts with our image, then you need to buy a more expensive EL. My summary here is just speculation, based on the rather vague response of DP.

I think this is just a move to lower prices further.

355
Now they have had a few emails asking about opting out on partner program it might actually have an effect.

356
Opt out on subs is a great option. However, without subs on that site i think the number of sales would be too low.

357
I sent a message to DP and asked them to either pull my images off of partner sales or disable all EL sales to stop this from happening. They pulled my port away from partner sales. If enough people do this the message will sink in!

In them selling my images for 18 months im up to 40$ so i can take it or leave it with them.

I also told them the reason why! That i had heard of the 6-7$ EL comission.

358
All the images i now send to DP are scaled to the lowest possible resolution. They are competing on price far too heavily. This will result in the downfall of prices elsewhere. I do not see any benefit to supporting further drops in price. Some agencies out there are pushing prices up like IS and SS, if the prices go up everyone earns more.

They like us to be creative with our work, so lets see them be creative about competition with other sites and not just compete on price.

Already tried that, Unfortunatly although i have good quality stuff, I only have about 60 clips vs 1000 images. They want like 2500 clips to make deals like that. Ive been doing this about 18 months and mostly been working on images not video.

As they wont offer me any better I wont send them anything

Great news that they offer video, the problem is the comissions are too low to interest me.

You can also report infringing sites that use Google Adsense to display ads and earn revenue from their site. The Adsense site has a page where you can report a site that violates their terms, which include terms about not using Adsense on any site that violates copyrights.

Similarly, you can do the same for sites that use BuySellAds. Those typically appear as a group of small square ads on a site. When you click one of them, you can briefly see the BuySellAds URL in your browser address bar to know that the site uses BSA. Report them to BSA and they will have their account terminated. I've done it, it works.

What a wonderful idea!

Apparently Google will implement an algorithm to ranks pages lower if they have a history of copyright infringements...

Maybe sites like Heroturko and the like might sink to the bottom at least on Google.

One step in the right direction. Right?

I already do this to sites that fail to respond to my emails. As i have said in previous posts elsewhere. I am not prepared to tolerate this anymore. Once site i actually had to DMCA the host as a result the whole site got taken down. Im seriously considering taking that matter further with that particular person.

363

If someone was stupid or cheap enough to "save" him self a lousy $1 for a picture then he should pay all the costs involved.

I just dont tolerate it anymore! full stop. Im currently dealing with several infringers. My advice to any infringer is to remove the content before its discovered. If the infringer doesnt remove the material upon request with a DMCA then thats very serious!
Im a nice person and easy to get along with but im also prepared to stand up for my rights.

They do accept sRGB by the way

when have you got them approved?

I emailed support about sRGB issue and the duplicate issue with 123rf. They resolved both matters for me.

So the deal seems to be as follows:
1. there is no mechanism to identify or prevent duplicate images coming from 123rf and directly submitted to pond5. Pond5 does not physically store photos from 123rf, they are displayed via API. pond5 will review and approve photos based on their individual merit only

I think you need to contact p5 support for clarification on this one. I cant imagine that have didnt think of this issue before starting their new campaign.

Could it be though that they intend to compete on the basis of aRGB files and set themselves aside from the competition. Most designers would use a wide gamut range monitor wouldnt they?

I saw the Adobe colour space and thought it was a mistake. Thankfully i have a wide gamut range monitor. However it will be a pain to edit pics in two different colour spaces.

p5 now accepting photos, and you can set your own price!

Thats put a cat amongst the pidgeons!

didnt they partner with 123rf? if i have work on 123rf that is mirrored on p5 will that cause a conflict of interest??

time to maybe start sending in small file sizes as 90% of comissions are 0.3 subs

This is just leading to the devaluation of our work and therefore im not going to contribute. I notice that DP staff have gone quiet.

Why dont they try setting the prices higher. If the agencies started realising that charging more makes more money then everyone would make more instead of setting silly prices for things.

average $25 for a HD1080 at SS and Pond5
Why joining in these conditions ?? better to support Pond5 and SS and others like ClipCanvas and Revostock

Totally agree, and Im going over to doing more video!

They dont accept 50FPS which is the standard my camcorder produces and as such im not going to redit my files for those low comissions. All the other sites are happy with 50FPS.

Anyone noticed on the upload that they now list specs for video. Are they going to offer video ??

I hope they do, but there rates would need to be higher than 0.3$ to pull me in on that one.
