This is wrong.
They always need new ones. It is very important for the agencies that there is a flow and movement going on. Every agency encourage you to submit regulary.
Except that from time to time one agency or another rejects because they have too many of a particular subject.
Like pictures of marijuana.

Months later and they're still rejecting 95% of what I submit. The other 6 sites I contribute to have happily accepted my work with a 100% acceptance rate. This, along with their ridiculously complex upload system, makes me think they're just not worth it anymore. I will probably be pulling my portfolio. I know this does no real damage to them, I just think I'll be happier streamlining my stock work flow.
They are a huge waste of time for me as an illustrator. Submission is complex and rejections are almost 100%. Elitist snobs.

So SS has stopped sending out cards or is it just me that didn't make the grade this year?
No card for us peasants. They spent all the money giving their administrative staff at Shutterstock Tower more important things like gyms, game rooms and Pizza Fridays.

. . seriously, is it done by machine?
If you do the job, then you're at some point a "human machine". Otherwise you can not check thousands of photos every day.
I just noticed they are looking to hire an Android Engineer. So that is proof that they not only use Artificial Intelligence, but they also want to hire androids! http://www.shutterstock.com/jobs/listings

Yes, they are real people and they have Pizza Fridays, subsidized fitness plans and game rooms! http://www.shutterstock.com/jobs

I see from the Poll on the right that CanStock is showing results similar to BigStock. Does this reflect reality for most people? Is CanStock worth uploading to, or are the numbers misleading like Deposit? Has there been any improvement and/or progress at CanStock since they were integrated into Fotosearch?
As an illustrator, I have growing sales and payout every month with a portfolio of 5000+. I am very satisfied

1,000 isn't enough to make more on P5 in my opinion. I have over 5,000 there and I get a few decent sales each month. But it is surprisingly low. Like the other member said, they seem to do better with video sales. I need to try sending them my video too. Yes, you read right, I have close to 1000 images at pond5 but no sales (well almost, I made 10$ in 2 years). I produce illustrations and my images sell pretty satisfactory on other agencies.
I was gradually going down with my prices in hope to get some sales but right now I'm at 7,50$ per image and still no sales. I feel if I go lower I might as well give extended licenses for free.
What am I doing wrong? Now I'm thinking in opposite direction to drastically increase my prices to about 45$ and see if that shakes things up. Also, after some analysis I drastically changed my keywording strategy in my last batch (not approved yet), but I feel like I'm still poking in the dark.
Anyone out there making any money with illustrations at pond5, or is that a place to sell videos only?

I have used their handbook for years as a guide for graphic design business, and we even used one as a textbook in a class I took a couple of years ago. I have used their site to look for talent, but I have never really been a member.
Thanks. Any reason why you have not joined?

I am thinking of joining the Graphic Artist Guild. I'd like to know you are a member and your opinion of them (or another similar group). Maybe if enough stock illustrators join them, we could do some good for the industry.

Back to the original question, I just got a "too simple" rejection for an illustration too. It was not too simple for other agencies though. I was expecting something like "similar". I think it's just a new phrase on their rejection list, the old ones are boring.
Flag the rejection emails and resubmit them in the future. Works all the time for me.

Not surprised. Ever since they changed the payout process, I am so confused about how much they owe me and how much I can expect to be paid.

I suggest looking at Gumroad to sell digital and physical collections of images. It's a good idea to create DVDs with different collections of vector (or pics) to sell on ebay??
I can not sell my designs directly on ebay in digital format, so burn them on DVD is the only way.
anyone have any experience or any comment about this ??

39084 of weed. This is a conspiracy. Obviously someone at the top at SS LOVES marijuana and all such pictures will be approved. I think I'm going to make a series of marijuana people, animals and nature backgroundswhich will include variations as website buttons. Sorry to change the subject. I think that their next step will be to accept any crap, like did iStock about one year ago
You mean this crap? http://www.shutterstock.com/portfolio/search.mhtml?gallery_landing=1&gallery_id=1256674&page=1&safesearch=1&sort_method=newest
OMG. At first I thought that was broccoli. LOL.
I will also say that since mediocracy sells, the problem of being found is exacerbated.
Yes, it is just going to cause buyers to have to do more wading to find what they want. That is never a good thing.

is the 123 upload broken?
If you're talking about the FTP processing function, log out and log back in. That always works for me.

On a 5,000+ portfolio I am having double the sales than pre-Adobe. Payouts are much more frequent for me. Rejections are up. But I am very happy with the progress.

Use the releases tab. Choose "Other" as the type. (Sorry for my english I'm using a translator)
I would like to load vector files with DeepMeta
Example: I want to upload a file where I used an apple fruit photographed by me, I used the mesh in Illustrator.
But the reference file (photo) where load in the program?
Thanks

I think there is comming a competition about the contributors. First Adobe and now Istock with a increase. If we contributors are better organized or united in a club for example we can take a much bigger piece of the pie.
Yep. JSnover for President.
