So far I found two of them and they do mostly the same, do a search on few microstock sites at the same time. So if your a buyer you just go to one place and search.  This is common then approach is different for these two sites:
1. http://www.imagetrail.net/ would redirect you to original website and let you buy picture from that site.
2. http://www.brightqube.com/ got it's own shopping cart and handle all buying process so you would never see where is image coming from.

After 2 months it finally happened.

Somebody asked, yes I got account since 2005 but I haven't been using it till last month so I got only 16 files online after I started uploading. I was almost willing to give again because their upload process is terrible but I discovered DeepMeta and it's slightly better now. Maybe I will not quit this website despite of all initial problems :-)

It seems like there is no single site that allows to check my status through news feed. It's kind of annoyingly to go to every site to only to see that nothing changed. I know I am really inpatient person :-)

They got great website. All developers from other sites should take classes there. If marketing department is as good as programmers it will be a blast  8)

I am just curious, are pictures stripped off EXIF/IPTC data, watermarks after being uploaded to microstock websites? I guess this this can be replaced anyway if somebody downloads picture he/she bought.

1556
Mystery solved. I guess they silently delete files that do not meet their size requirements. I checked and I was uploading 2MP files and they require 4MP now.  I only hope customer service would have any record of this and I would not lost time posting files to void  ;D

Explanation (shall I also send to to reviewer?)

Rosa is Latin name for genus and rose is common name
Tea rose is a type of rose
Rose is a flowering shrub and also name of the flower of this shrub
Buoquet or bunch - right I did not have more than one on this photo but I am tagging all pictures with roses with the same set.

1558
What is wrong with them?

Rosa, Tea, beautiful, beauty, bouquet, bunch, closeup, flower, flowering, garden, genus, love, petal, pink, plant, red, romantic, rose, shrub, valentine

Do they expect that I will have individual set of tags for every picture?

It took me 2 months to see this  ???

Are there any sites using category system that implemented this feature? It just drives me nuts that I have to go thru each pictures and set some category which is not really used for search but helps site to catalog pictures.

Computer Hardware / Re: Confused about graphic cards

First of all you need to ask yourself what do you need.  There are many parameters but for you probably result ion and memory size would determine how comfortable you can work with new card. Do not forget monitor in this equation. You might spend tons of money on latest card just to figure out that your display cannot handle resolution. Unless you are going to render in 3D you might also do not need latest GPU which are designed for gamers mostly to provide highest frames per second output in 3D.

I just noticed first sales on few sites so I could start from something positive here. So far after 2 months I am expecting first payout on SS, got few DL on 123 and FT (ftp upload is broken) and finally first sales on DT and StockXpert.

All others seems to be dead.
IS - stack with their upload process so I cannot really build any portfolio there while I managed to have over 1000 photos on 123
BigStock - same as above, weeks of waiting for review of 10 photos
CS - they are very fast in reviewing I mean rejecting my photos
FP - everything works ok but no sales at all
SV - just patetic review times and upload process

Potentially useful.
YAY - smooth upload process. I can build portofolio almost as fast as 123 but I have no idea if this would take off in June

What industry? Are you asking about photography in general, art or just microstock? I might be dreaming about being National Geographic photographer but then microstock would not be my goal at all. Anyway for me now it's just attempt to finance my next camera upgrade, maybe future part time job. Now trying to review and upload some of my 60K+ collection of photos. Just to make them earning money instead of just sitting on the disk :-)

I am Polish so I checked some microstock sites there and there are in various stages of infancy right now  ;D Most of them struggle to get site and services up. Only few got GUI in more languages at this moment.  I signed to 3: buy-photo, stockplus, shutterplanet. Only the first one got FTP up and running :)

900 images is about month of work ;D

I still try to review and process my old photos. I am done with 2002  :D

Old photos, especially the one I scanned myself from negatives seems to be most time consuming. With digital photos I hope to optimize my workflow around Adobe Lightroom. If I have to lunch any editing software it seems to be big slowdown in my process.

Still working on better keywording.

FTP part is easiest for my just running siteupdate overnight (all site definitions are in place, just droping files to right folder).

Categories are waste of time too. I guess nowadays search engines should be optimized around tags and categories are only for cataloging purposes.

I think more about microstock when I am shooting right now.  Better suited photos mean less work.

After rejecting 64 pictures they send me congratulation message (it must be a bug in their software):

EVALUATION MESSAGE

Good pictures. Keep uploading! Best regards, Crestock

I just wanted out of the box solution that works and it works on every site besides fotolia so I am happy with it. If I get involved with more sites I might write something myself (in java or c# rather that in perl) to run each ftp session in separate thread so it would use my bandwidth more efficiently :-)

1571
I guess files are moved to a different remote directory after processing so comparing with remote site will not make any sense. There always be zero files on remote site and n files on my local system. I would rather want to keep track of what I haven't uploaded yet and try to send them next time I try.

Does mirror handle multiple sites? I like that I can define multiple instances of ftp site with different users and directories. The I simply run something like

Code: [Select]
sitecopy -update shutterstock fotolia 123rf dreamstime

1572
I am newbie and have stats based only on one site (no downloads on other sites) and it seems that so far number of unique downloads is around 1/2 of my portfolio size.  I just started 2 months ago so I think it's too early to draw any conclusions  ;)

1573
I do not have any error messages on my side. According to my logs everything was successfully uploaded.

There is and synchronization file in ~/.sitecopy directory for each site definition and it lists status of all uploads.

1574
I would think so but apparently there are no technically competent people in customer support or maybe they shifted support to some third world country and these guys have no access to US ftp servers so they paste some answers from FAQ to reply :-)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Keeping Track
« on: May 08, 2008, 17:05 »
I use program called sitecopy which sync folder on your local drive with remote directory on ftp site. Each site might have a different definition so I am pointing some sites to folder containing 2MPix files and other to 4MPix files. I run a script which uploads to each site sequentially when all sites are processed just move whole batch of files to archive folder. As you see each of my batches might have to sizes of files. I generaly keep both in archive in case of enrolling to new site and then I start uploading from batch 1.

I only keep track of what I uploaded. I cannot tell what was accepted on which site cause it's post-FTP processing.
