I fell short by 25 cents...the only good thing about it is I'm pretty sure I'll get a payout next  :-\

Take FD's advice, JP.
I sent him the real advice yesterday by a PM. I couldn't tell it in public since I got it from deep inside FT.   ;)
Basically, the comment of Miklav was on-spot.

Yes you did and thank you very much for that...it certainly makes sense....jp

Adobe Stock / Terrible review acceptance at FT
« on: September 21, 2010, 15:01 »
I've had 1 image approved out of the last 30 submitted at FT over the past month. What's the deal? IS and SS have accepted them all and are selling well. Is there something I'm missing or is there a specific category they are looking for? Sales have been terrible there as well....jp (123 is beating them!)

But money isnt going to be what makes you all happy

Why do we do this then? If I wanted to just feel good and be "stroked", I wouldn't be sending my images to a commercial company expecting to be paid with a "nice job, let us make you feel good"...HELLO!

Sorry Lisa. The movie "Pretty Woman" was about a tycoon (Richard Gere) who bought up companies in an appearance to make it look like he was trying to help them survive when in reality he would break them up and sell them off for huge profits.

Oh, I see.  Yes, that or an IPO does sound like exactly what's going on here.

Thanks for explaining John.  I have seen PW a couple of times but for some reason Richard Gere made more of an impression than what his character did for a living ;)

Although Richards character did see the light at the end, I don't expect the same here.

Concerning the thought that little money would be made selling off, there are lots of major corps out there that would snap at the idea of owning a share of this "new" business that's 5 years young give or take. We're talking millions of images....just my thinking on the matter.

I smell an IPO or possibly a "Pretty Woman" sell off coming... lots of partners have been gathered into the fold.

I googled it and can't find what a "Pretty Woman" sell off is.  ???

Veer / Re: Losing instead of gaining!
« on: September 07, 2010, 18:28 »
Thanks, I was aware of this but checked to be sure and still see the same reduced amount. I received a strange payout from them on Jan, 3rd this year for $8.50 that didn't make sense. I changed the date range back to Jan, 5th and the total amount is the same. I don't know why they don't just tell you the total you have earned on the dashboard...that would make it much easier.

Veer / Losing instead of gaining!
« on: September 07, 2010, 11:59 »
For the past 4 weeks I have had a reduction in my gross earnings since being credited for the "Dash for Cash" was added to my account. I wouldn't mind if they would just let me know why the money is being removed instead of letting me guess. Anyone else have this occur? It's happened 3 times...bad credit cards? Would be nice to know. No sales, just reductions.

It just came back up....

I feel like the Morlocks in THE TIME MACHINE (HG Wells) marching to be eaten by those underground beasts, or do I have it backwards??

Chad
Yeah I think the Morlocks were (will be?) the underground beasts, can't remember what the name of the food guys was!

FYI, The ELOI's are the ones that get eaten! Oops, I missed the post above...sorry

Who really knows when or if it will happen? 2 Peter, ch 3, ver 8 puts it in a nutshell. Whether you are a "believer" or not it has some sense about it.

Absolutely wonderful work. I have some old photo's from my grand-parents era, 80 or 90 years ago, and I find portrait posing is almost the same in each of them, no smiling or very little. This seems to be the norm back then, even for snapshots, or they just had nothing to smile about.

I'm thinking of submitting a solid blue sky with loads of artifacts and call it...here it comes..."Artifacts!"   What else could it be?    ::) Think it will get approved?

Why have you put 'lol' on the end of your topic title?

Funny in a strange way that's typical of them...certainly not funny in a comical way. However, 5 minutes after I started this thread I got a d/l...would you call that "funny" or strange. They're not very consistent.

What's the deal with DT...I haven't had a D/L since Aug 3rd with over 500 images there and SS is slammin'. Anyone else see a slow down?

245
What gets me are the rejections I get from FT and the same images are accepted at SS and IS and  selling well....what are thinking?

246
I haven't seen those types of notes before. Most of the sites would reject the photo if there were any graininess at all, so on the bright side, at least it has a shot at selling. But I do know what you mean. Some buyers may not even notice the graininess, depending on how it is used. I see why you wouldn't be crazy about them adding it.

I thought most sites offered refunds to buyers if they purchase an image they aren't happy with. So I don't understand why they would take the chance of losing a sale and pointing out something that may not matter. ??

I couldn't have said it better...

What's really funny about this is the buyer purchased it at the largest size anyway...go figure!

247
Thanks Warren, I guess I never notice it before...

248
Can, and do other agencies modify your image descriptions? I would think a quick note to the contributor would be in place. I have several that have been "added to" following a **NOTE:  after the description.

RE:  http://www.bigstockphoto.com/image-3597842/

It's not a big deal, it's just that I'm not crazy about them suggesting the buyer purchase a smaller size...."of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

249
What an absolute nightmare!

Interesting...I missed that somewhere along the line...thanks
