123RF / Re: 123RF Image Enlargement Services & Your Earnings
« on: April 06, 2010, 09:48 »
:o Honestly folks, I am gob smacked and shocked to receive such a response from you.

Please allow me to say my piece - I know you'll be worried if people get their hands on your images, your work, your copyright, and we played the responsible party and made ABSOLUTELY SURE that our partners will not go and distribute them without your knowledge, or ours. I know you'll be worried, I would like to take the initial step to reassure you that your works will not be treated in a way that would upset you.

Also another misconception that I'd like to set straight, our partners do not only enlarge the image, but also do minor touch ups, clean up the noise and artifacting amongst other things. They do add value to the image itself. It is not some "one setting for all" server side script that automatically does the job. Our clients do really feel happy that we provide such a service, and are willing to pay good money for it.

We didn't hood wink anyone, they can still download the 5 credits version, we didn't FORCE anyone to take the 300MB TIFF version, it's JUST THERE. IF they want it, they can get it, and so far, nobody's complaining, I've had several thank you emails from clients who were pleased that we provided such a service, and several more from contributors who have had such downloads.

We are here working hard to create opportunities for everyone to earn a little more, the question is -- why the bad vibes? This, I simply cannot understand! I can't believe I have to defend something that just gives money to our community, I find this highly astonishing!

Thank you, and I'm real sorry if I offended anyone.

123RF / 123RF Image Enlargement Services & Your Earnings
« on: April 06, 2010, 04:47 »
Hi Everyone,

Great news! We've introduced another value added service to our clients - 123RF Image Enlargement Service. And you can now see this as being available on the website if you look at your file sizes, we now have the following:

Size            Credits   Your share
S                  1         50%
M                  2         50%
L                  3         50%
XL                 4         50%
XXL                5         50%
100 MB TIFF       150     20 credits
200 MB TIFF       300     40 credits
300 MB TIFF       450     60 credits

We are employing an external party to provide this service to our clients. We are using your 5 credit version of the image to enlarge it to 100, 200, 300 MB TIFFs with some minor touch up, removal of noise, etc.  Don't worry about your original images, we do make sure that we keep everything cataloged and our external service provider will not distribute this version without first consulting 123RF.

The good news is, you're now getting approximately 13.3% of the FULL VALUE (not 50% as in the case of the S-XXL size images) of the credits for each image enlarged, while we share the remaining amount with the image enlargement service provider.

We hope that this will prove to be a good and profitable business model for you and our clients as it will increase the earning capacity for everyone. We will promote this service to all our clients and soon you should see some heavy hitting sales coming your way!

Thank you very much.

Alex.

123RF / Re: Earnings discrepancies
« on: April 02, 2010, 03:03 »
Hello everyone,

I know that it is very distressing to find your earnings fluctuating. We are really trying to iron this out here at 123RF. As you know we've just shifted to a new design and with that comes new challenges. customer and photographer's satisfaction does take priority around here and we are working hard so that our clients are satisfied with the new site changes and features that we now offer.

Now coming back to the issue of earnings fluctuations. Over the years, the number of downloads that have been logged are piling up (quite literally) and now we find that generating your earnings page is taking up a lot of CPU time and this often causes our servers to be overloaded.

What are we doing to fix this? Basically, 3 things:
1. Dedicated and faster servers to handle the load.
2. Restructure both the downloads and earnings database into more resilient schema.
3. Recode the scripts that display all earnings and downloads so that they perform faster.

For the month or so ahead, you will find that your earnings will indeed fluctuate. The reason for the fluctuations are:
1. Certain canceled transactions, which are due to fraudulent activities. Sometimes it may takes several months before the bank informs us of a fraudulent transaction and we have no choice but to cancel it from our records.
2. Clients' request for cancellation. We do request our clients to provide us with a written letter stating images downloaded are not to be used and have been deleted from their systems.
3. Duplicated download logging, at times the server registers 2 or more downloads from the same client, on the same resolution and of the same image. We have upgraded our scripts to take these duplicated entries into account.
4. At times, the server will time out due to heavy load and can only process certain download data and left out the other portions, this could cause faulty reporting of downloads as well.

Please rest assure that some reconciliation on your earnings figures will definitely occur over the next month as we scale up our operations. But we will be responsible for the problems and will find way to compensate those of you who are affected by this exercise from our own coffers. We ask that you do not worry as we have all download logs intact and we will live up to our end of the bargain.

Kindly understand that we treat all our contributors as fair and equal business partners and we are aware that first and foremost business partnerships are built based on mutual trust and forging a solid reputation. We are not in the business to ruin our good reputation that we have so painstakingly built over the years by not addressing and subsequently resolving this siutation, but we do ask for your patience and understanding.

123RF.com is constantly growing and as you know, growing means expansion, upgrades and at times, it's just plain difficult trying to grow up. I do hope that you'll accept this explanation for now and kindly give us time (approximately 1 month) to upgrade our infrastructure so that we can achieve both customer and contributor satisfaction to once again win over your trust and develop a win-win situation for everyone.

Thanking you for your kind understanding.

123RF / Re: Site problems at 123?
« on: February 18, 2010, 20:45 »
I'm not having any login problems, however, I've had 85 photos waiting to be inspected for over three weeks.

I sent an e-mail to Alex about 10 days ago....I received a receipt to acknowledge that it had been read, but I did not receive a reply.

This week, I rang their office, and asked to speak to Alex.  The receptionist said that he was on the phone, and asked for my details.  She said that he would call me back.  Once again, I've heard nothing!  It's not like 123RF.....all of my images have always been inspected very promptly after uploading.

Is anyone else having a similar problem?

Hi Phillip,

We did not mean to ignore you :) but a lot of us (the reviewers) are on vacation and we're moving as fast as we can to review all images. We will only be back full force starting mid next week.

Your further patience is appreciated. ALSO! The receptionist gave me a funny name, that wasn't yours.

Thanks! Lemme know if it's fixed, you can always PM me here your UID on 123, and I'll see if I can trace the bug for ya.

Hi guys,

Yes, we're having some problems as of late. I'm guessing it's because of the nice lookstat, isyndica and others logging in on your behalf and asking for your account statistics, sales, earnings and other information. Our servers have really taken a beating due to the load this has generated.

As such we disabled the old earnings report and we've traced the bug for inconsistent reporting. We are now working to give you all a more stable report with all earnings properly calculated and appropriated to you.

Please kindly be patient. We are aware of the problem and will try our best to sort this out as soon as humanly possible.

« on: January 16, 2009, 01:13 »
Hi Everyone,

I just received confirmation that we have managed to clear all payments 100% as of today, and by the 16th morning, we managed to clear all payments to eligible contributors.

Apologies also for the subject title of the email, my bad! As for the order of payment, it's no secret that we try to clear MOST of the payments, and the only way we can do that is ..... oh you all are so good with maths!

New Sites - General / Re: Magnetqueen
« on: November 16, 2008, 20:39 »
Hi Everyone,

MagnetQueen is one of our API Partners. All sales will be reported accordingly. You will never get a 0.36c sale off the site simply because they do not do subscription downloads. Only credits!

Hope that clarifies our position on this!

Thank you!

123RF / Re: Payouts delayed until end of October
« on: October 16, 2008, 23:16 »
Hi Everyone,

Thanks for sharing your views. I will attempt to explain some things.

MoneyBookers was paid out ok, as there's no technical glitches there.

As for Paypal, we could pay some out. But for the vast majority, some of you wouldn't receive payment until we get the glitch ironed out by the banks. Nevertheless, as a responsible agency and to uphold our commitment on automatic payments, we tried our best to pay as many of our qualifying contributors as possible.

We're glad that some have received payment. For those who are going to get delayed, we're truly sorry, and we hope that in the future this does not happen again.

Alex.

Yes, we reject for MR, but please go to the release section and make sure you choose
"Rejected for missing/incomplete MR" and then start attaching your releases.

Once you've done that, the images should go back to the pending queue and we will review it once more.

So no worries, just follow the instructions, if the queue is stuck, do let us know, we'll unplug it for ya.

Most of the time the contributor neglects to send us their ID, this is true for the first initial upload. So do upload your ID and we'll approve your Contributor account and start to review your submissions right away. Also bear in mind that the MINIMUM amount of images you should submit for the initial review is 10!

Please follow the instructions below to start the ID upload process.

   1. Log into 123rf.com
   2. Go to photographers -- Upload Images
   3. On the right hand side you'll see: Click here to submit your ID for verification
   4. Click the link and upload your ID.

We accept documents such as your driver's license, identity cards, passports, or any other form of Government issued identification, with your photo on it as valid IDs. Scan your ID (or use your camera, if you prefer to) and save it into a JPG format. Do crop out the necessary bits only and as long as it's legible we'll accept it.

Alternatively, you can click on this link: https://www.123rf.com/submit/submit_id.php after you have logged in, it will bring you to the upload ID page directly. The upload process is fast and secure. We have taken all necessary steps to ensure your ID is safe with us.

Thank you, hope to receive your ID soon and we bid you a warm welcome to 123RF.com.

Hi Everyone,

This is the new Earnings page:
http://submit.123rf.com/submit/commission.php

You may click on the month to drill down and find out how you're doing in the month, example:
http://submit.123rf.com/commission_daily.php?mth=2008-08

In addition, the downloaded images page has also been upgraded:
http://submit.123rf.com/submit/downloaded_stats.php

We hope this gives you a clearer view on how you're performing on 123RF.

The old reports are still valid. Languages other than English will still use the old reporting until we can translate the items above.

Thank you very much for the help and cooperation. We hope you like the new reporting formats, and appreciate your patience.
