123RF / Re: What's the best uploading method for 123RF?
« on: May 07, 2013, 03:22 »
Hi everyone,

We do know exactly how our model releases work and sometimes it gets a bit tedious. I'm recommending a method to IT to implement that will really cut down the time you guys will spend on your releases.

The reason why we need releases to be files in this basis is because we can actually search for the number of people within the photo and also show the "More images of this model" section.

We use the model releases to provide such information and do the linking together.

Hopefully we can get something done very quickly.

Thanks and do stay tuned and do bear with us a little longer.

Alex.

Hi everyone,

We have produced a contributor guidebook, I'm assuming that we're talking about stock photos.
Here's the guide to upload stock photos to 123RF: http://www.123rf.com/guidebook/c03s01.htm

You might want to IPTC your images first to save you a lot of time when uploading to various sites. Here's a guide on how to IPTC, Describe and Keyword RF Commercial Content: http://www.123rf.com/guidebook/c04s01.htm

Here's how you can quickly attach and manage your model releases: http://www.123rf.com/guidebook/c05s02.htm

Any other questions? Please get in touch with us: [email protected]

Thank you!

Alex.

Another reason why it just says "Rejected" without a reason are :
1. sometimes the image doesn't get processed nicely or
2. the upload process has some problems resulting in corrupted image.

In these cases, we will just reject it without a reason. Most of the time we reject images with a reason given, like Poor composition/lighting or Copyright / Brand infringements.

Thank you!

Alex

123RF / Re: got $3.00 for a EEL sale? really?
« on: April 15, 2013, 08:35 »
A limited extended license is something that is negotiated for between 123RF and another organization. The deal is likely to be large and that special licensing terms shall apply. These licenses are definitely more expensive than your run of the mill sizes on 123RF.com and are required by the buyer. Every case differs but is locked down by an agreement between the buyer and 123RF.com.

We do not enter into deals whereby distribution in the content's original form is permitted as its against our EULA.

For image enlargements we pay:
20 credits for 100 MB enlargements
40 credits for 200 MB enlargements
60 credits for 300 MB enlargements

From what you wrote, the rate appears to be correct, of course, it depends on your tier as a contributor as well. But let's assume you're a rank 5 contributor whereby you get 50% of the earnings. The per credit price appears to be $6.86 / 20 credits / 50% contributor rate = $0.686 per credit.

On reaching out, it's a term that has been going around for quite some time. Ok, if you don't like reaching out, then thanks for contacting us. Perhaps that's better?

Thanks,

Alex.

HI Luis,

The LEL is a specially negotiated license. So it's not listed anywhere on the site.

Thank you very much,

Alex.

I have just got $0.906 for a PEL , which is 50 credits. Have sent of an email to much sure it is correct.

Any one else got one this low lately?

 :(

@uvox - Our team has investigated your account and your email which came in approximately 5 hours ago. We have found that there are no PEL downloads on your account - both on your earnings page as well as on our database tables. Our Submission Email team member has replied to your email with even more conclusive details.

Thank you for reaching out.

Hi Everyone,

We have taken things offline for the moment for most dynamic contributor related features.
Not to worry, your downloads are still being tracked and all sales are recorded. Our IT personnel will fix this as soon as we can.

Thank you,

Alex

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to clarify that we will not rig the search results in favor of 'earning more', the same metrics/algorithms will still be used, please use your fave list to the maximum to gain more exposure for your portfolio.

Thank you very much,

Alex.

HI everyone,

Please note that LELs are not at fixed price of 20 credits, we negotiate on the pricing based on the extent of usage.

Just wanted to make that clear. Some of you might be getting 30 or 40 credit versions of the LELs.

Thank you very much,

Alex.

Hi Eco,

We detected the error much much earlier than any complaint, but we needed more time to continue the download - as I mentioned we did not want half the downloads to be registered at a different price than the other half.

But AS SOON AS we finished the entire download, we got our IT team to correct the error and explained to all contributors affected.

It is not true that all adjustments are made in our favor. In my 6 year history with 123RF, I remembered quite a few incidences in the past when we detected miscalculations, errors, omissions, refunds that were meant to be deducted but weren't. Our management decided to absorb them as they were well in the past errors and did not warrant making such adjustments. For those incidences, 123RF absorbed quite a substantial amount of money.

But in any case, I still hope that you'll be with us in 2013 (and beyond) and I always welcome any form of dialogue.

Thank you very much,

Alex.

To those who have fluctuations in earnings on a daily basis, I welcome any emails with screenshots to help us in our investigations. Your screenshots would also help very much when we are trying to replicate the error on our own system as well as escalating it to IT for further action if necessary.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi Everyone,

Yes we do understand that there should be no mess ups when it comes to payment calculations. When purchases are made online, there's no need to manually input anything into the system, the system would accept it and if the payment goes through, the buyer may start downloading. All downloads are then logged and commissions are then appropriated accordingly.

However, when something is negotiated (like one of these big deals), our Finance staff has to input the invoice manually with all correct amounts. In this one such incident, there was a tiny error and while we rushed to execute the order, some of the downloads were logged at the wrong price per credit. We wanted to correct the mistake a little earlier but we wouldn't want the integrity of the data to be compromised. Downloading 180ish TIFF files is a little time consuming. However, once we have finished the downloads, our IT team was asked to make sure that all records correctly reflected the value of the corrected invoice.

I hope you can understand that we do take your payments and commissions seriously, and I do apologize for the mistake - we are all human and we all made mistakes every now and then. We have also been sincere and forthcoming in investigating EVERY SINGLE complaint about payment that you send to us and will continue to do so.

Thank you very much and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Alex.

Hi Everyone,

We have investigated this issue. It was a big order (180 images in total) and we were rushed to complete the order as the client wanted their images in 6 hours.

The reason for this miscalculation was due to an error on the invoice, we have since corrected the error and have adjusted the downloads to show the correct rate.

Thank you very much for reporting this to us. Our submission email team will be replying to your emails soon.

Hi everyone,

We have made some changes to the calculations, here is a list of the changes:

1) 100MB TIFF - now 150, from 20
2) 200 MB TIFF - now 300, from 40
3) 300 MB TIFF - now 450, from 60
4) If the Contributor also submits content to the Footage or EVO collections, 123RF will recognize the credit count that we charge to our clients for the purpose of calculating Contributors' Levels.

Thank you very much,

Alex.

To some borderline cases (a little more and you'll get to the next level) if you're doing better in December 2012 than in December 2011, you should be looking forward to the next Contributor Level.

Thank you,

Alex.

I'll be negotiating a little something that would help with the RC levels with the management.

That's all I'm willing to divulge at the moment. I know it's hard to wish me good luck, but I really need some luck to bring your case forward.

Thank you,

Alex.

Hi Everyone,

You should be able to see your levels now.
Please visit:  http://www.123rf.com/sellimages.php (fastest)

And here: http://www.123rf.com/submit/commission.php (captcha & much slower)

I hope this helps clear the air a bit. I'd like to thank everyone here submitting your suggestions to us.

As usual, we will look at them seriously, our plan is still on track, to continue forging ahead and opening up new markets.

Thank you very much, have a Merry Christmas and I hope that you will continue to be with us in 2013.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for your patience, I tested a beta today but we're just double checking that all information is correct.

We wouldn't want to give the wrong information and it's the first time we're doing this so, hope you can just bear with us just a little longer.

Thanks for your understanding.
