that link took me to a video about Madri Gras in Sidney  :-\

Yes, I have the same complaint with Fotolia.  I don't do that many pix with models and I when I do I sometimes let habit take over and forget to submit the model release.

I have found out, however, that if you just leave it, the rejection for no MR is different that a "normal" rejection in that all you have to do is go back and add the release -- no re-upload -- and approval is then very quick.

It probably still counts again you in the ratio, but at least it simpler and easier then delete and resubmit from scratch.

I only used Scout once -- and I have no idea how long it took.  After waiting almost 3 months, I gave up and wrote it off as a lost cause. A few days later, I noticed I got a sale on the picture!  I have no idea how long it's been active.  I never got an email and when I look at the picture info it doesn't tell me.

On the good side, though, apparently Scout could find the "artifacting" either  :D

Rosacea is a skin disease that causes red blotches and bumps on the face.  It comes and goes to some degree.  The model has a moderate case of Rosacea.

I resubmitted the photo substituting handyman for DIYer and it passed with no problem, with Rosacea in place.

However, IS is having a fit with Rosacea.  They accepted several, but have refused the last batch with that has the reason.  On there resubmit page, there is no area to leave comments to reviewers, so I couldn't explain the reason for the term.  I just left it out.

It normally takes my pix a month before they start accumulating views on StockXpert.

Granted, my port is obviously not great, but it seems after one months I start getting regular views, but not before.

yea, omitting Handyman was a major oversight, especially for the keywords.  I resubmitted the rejection changing DIYer for Handyman and added handyman to all the keywords in the series.

This IS much stronger, but I still think it was a strange rejection.

thanks for your help and advice!

Being fairly new at this, I get my share of rejections and I thought I'd see all the reasons until I got this one from Dreamstime (of all places) the other day....

There are misspelled words in the title, description and/or keywords of your image OR the info submitted is in a language other than English. Without correct information the image cannot be found and your sales will be low. ** Read the following articles to read how to improve your keywording and therefore, your sales: http://blog.dreamstime.com/search-tag-keywords Please resubmit and fix this problem or use the Keymasters program. Make sure to verify the spelling using the spellcheck buttons placed at the right of the description and keywords areas.

Here are the Title, Description and Keywords...

Mature DIYer Admiring Hammer

Mature DIYer admiring the hammer he is holding, isolated on a white background.

50s admiring background copy copyspace diy flannel gray graying grin hair hammer handsome isolated male man mature plaid portrait rosacea senior smile smiling space tool white

And here a thumb of the picture...

The really odd thing about this is it is but one of several in the series, all with identical keywords and very similar titles and description -- all of which were approved on Dreamstime.

I resubmitted the picture thinking it must be an error, and it was rejected a 2nd time for the same reason  ::)

<snip>  an error msg would appear saying can't process due to program error.  </snip>

I get this message, but only when I have an incorrect layer selection (such trying to clone onto a hidden layer or such)

General Photography Discussion / Re: Ritz files for Chapter 11
« on: February 26, 2009, 09:09 »
My wife worked for Ritz for nearly 5 years, up until last spring when they closed her store.  They have WAY too many stores in our area, and have been wisely closing quite a few.  They also have been restructuring their management hierarchy, reorganizing and combining districts, etc.  So, this comes as no surprise.

We stopped by one of there local stores last Friday where some of her friends still work.  Their shelves were really bare!  The store manager said they haven't been able to get new inventory.

WOW!!

Sometimes I try and convince myself (and other) that I'm creative.  That's a real hit on the head with reality.  I could "mechanically" do that, but I could never come up with all those ideas.  Amazing.

I didn't care for the example either, but I'm glad I read about it.  I didn't know about using a layer's channel to control how the lens blur filter works.  A little time spent in the help files let to a great example on using it on a picture of a cow, and that WAS a good example.
http://www.creativepro.com/article/photoshop-how-to-lens-blur-with-alpha-channels

I don't know if I'll ever go to all the work to apply it in that detail, but it's a nice trick I now have tucked away "just in case".

I'm a student in the northern, VA and have tons of free time! <snip>
I'm probably showing my ages, but how can an university student have lots of time?  It would seem to me that if that is the case, you should study more or take more classes.  Or am I just showing my age?

In any event, Klapamos, getting started in anything like this is not ease -- I know, I'm in that same position.  Have you considered looking on your campus itself?  Do they have any culinary classes?  Perhaps there is a fellow student into cooking that would like to work with you so he can get some shots of his creations.  Might even be a good way to meet girls.  Now there a great way for a college student to fill his spare time  ;)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Do categories matter?
« on: January 15, 2009, 11:10 »
I agree that categories are probably a waste of timed (but I'd really like to hear from buyers in case I'm wrong).

SO -- on which of the sites that offer categories are they not required?  I thought they were required on all of them, so I'd like to know which ones I can cut out.

Thanks,
Steve

Just today had 2 accepted at Istock that I shot at 1600 with my Pentax K100D, taken on a bright sunny day.  I have no idea how it got set that high -- was shocked when I saw the figures displayed in Bridge.

Oh a side note, I was surprised to see it accepted at IS as it was rejected on several other sites as not suitable for stock.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Do HDRs sell?
« on: December 27, 2008, 08:25 »
I've played around with HDR because I often like the results.  However, I can't claim to be an expert.  I've sold several that I took at the Ringling mansion here in Sarasota.  It makes a good HDR subject because it is colorful, has lots of detail, and I can seems the light is always shinning on the side opposite where I want to shoot!.  HDR is great for bring out both color and detail from shadowed areas without blowing out the sky.  In these situations I use the auto bracket feature on my camera to shoot 3 exposures, 1.5 stops each side of center, in rapid succession.  I use Photomatrix Pro 3.0 to combine them.  Noise IS always a problem, however, but the Noiseware plugin usually takes care of it with no problem.

123RF / Re: slow reviews
« on: December 16, 2008, 10:08 »
I have submitted about 7 small batches of 4-8 images so far this month, and until yesterday none were inspected.  Yesterday, they went through and reviewed all than had model releases (about 6 or so), which were scattered throughout the various batches.  The rest all remain as pending.  Kind of weird.

I uploaded a small batch last night, and they never showed up in the unfinished files section.  So I uploaded them again.  And waited.  Still a no show.  So I uploaded one via their web page thingy and it went fine.  Checked this morning and still no sign of my FTP'ed files.

<SNIP> ...it is mind-boggling that while contributors were asking about missing sales, it never even crossed their minds to mention that they were implementing a 14 day delay in reporting sales at photos.com.

What could your thinking possibly be that you would withhold this "detail" from contributors?

I had the exact same thoughts when I read that passage.
