Crestock.com / Bad search-function at Crestock
« on: August 26, 2009, 15:04 »
I used to have an image selling every day there til a few months ago, when the .25 selling madness all of a sudden stopped ???

I tried searching for "lonely tree" and got 20 results.  (13000 at SS)

I typed a three word search and got 0 results.

No wonder the downloads stopped :-[

When can we start submitting ;)

180 days. Ohhh that hurts :-[   Dont rush into it. Take the time you have and make sure you have good enough images. Proven by majority of people here first.

Or maybe you could borrow a few from Rinder ;)

General Stock Discussion / Re: BigStock Raises Payout To $50

The powerconsumption cost from the computer while uploading/cathegorizing with Bs is about the same as the earnings.   But 30-50$ who cares... ;)

Photo Critique / Re: May I have some feedback on this image?
« on: August 14, 2009, 15:20 »
Apart from the fringing, you need to clone away the puma on the foot. The ball could also be a problem.

The fringing could be desaturated in photoshop for example or colorcloned.

Sounds good Micke.  Easy upload, Free storage and a few sales is good enough for me so far.

Anyone else sold anything?

Not yet but still a small port. Usually Lumaxart (I think) buries my new images with a crapload of their own. Not upset about it...just saying that seems to happen with no upload limit there.

If people want shiny golden small people, they know where to go :D.  I dont think You need to worry about your work being burried.   And this is not like SS I guess?  Im not sure.  Is the search based on newest?

Give us a 100% crop if you want tech quality.  But it sure looks promising.

General - Top Sites / Re: Mo money
« on: August 05, 2009, 14:54 »
Here is an interesting article by Dan Heller http://www.danheller.com/blog/posts/myth-that-microstock-agencies-hurt.html if you haven't already read it. It's quite lengthy but interesting, certainly worth debating.

 I will read it, Thanks:)

This seems simple, but is complicated :-[       Is that what they call "cartel".  if every one does it at the same time? (rise prices)

What I mean is it would still be micro, but a couple of $ more per image.  Thats all... cmon ;)

General - Top Sites / Mo money
« on: August 05, 2009, 14:17 »
What if all sites agrees to rise their prices to double or tripple amount at the same time. More money to everyone, (except buyers...)  But its still super cheap.   Do you think a buyer care if the image he wants cost 1$ or 3$.

Sub sites could give a way 250 images/month instead of 750

This would probably just start another price war back to zero,  but if we dont feed the ones that go below it should be ok.

What would happen???

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Strap crap !
« on: August 01, 2009, 15:52 »
I remember my insurance agent told me I was able to get a new camera If I dropped it on the floor. I'm pretty sure they will investigate how this happened, but it's pretty neat.

But I had to get a 50$ a year extra insurance for that. This way I'm covered for house fire flood theft etc. But also from theft outside on the street, when I'm on trip and drop it on the floor accidentally. All that up to 10 000$ of equipment

I got an 3 years "throw it in the wall and get a new one" insurance on the camerahouse.  That wasnt even scratched :-X

Insurance agents often say it like that. They know that 99% is honest, so it doesnt matter.

Cameras / Lenses / Strap crap !
« on: August 01, 2009, 12:16 »
Hey there!

My strap gave up today, resulting in my Nikkor 80-200 2.8 ED hit the asphalt lens first, pushed by an D300 with batterypack.  Pretty hard...

Im glad I had a heavy UV filter on.  But would have been even happier if the sun-cap had been on.

I cleaned off the broken glass and tried unscrewing the filter, without success cause the lens was squeezed slightly oval :-\
It seemed to work though for awhile, till I tried a closeup zoom where it jammed >:(.   I used it manually for a few hours and tried the AF again.    IT WORKED!!, the whole way :D     Thats quality...

And check your old strap.    I had a neoprene one with small fake leather pieces that just gave up.  I could easily rip the ok looking side off when I tried.   Dont use fake materials .  And do a pressure test now and then...
