« on: November 21, 2010, 10:38 »
Gpu based rendering is coming fast.  Renderengines like vray have it in their next version 2.0.   with good cards the rendering can be many times faster than cpu.   (Although it has its limits today)

Youd get along fine without it though, depending on how serious you are with 3d.   Everything you see up til today is done without cpu rendering...

I wouldnt get a laptop for 3d work.  Its way to uncomfortable sitting in front of.  And belive me, 3d takes a lot of sitting in front of.   Id get atleast a i7 with  minimum 6G  ram and an average Graphics card  ( ask software company whats best).

I think most of us upload to low earners cause we hope they will explode in sales one day, for some reason.
For the same reason we stay there,  even though theres no sales.  Its the "What if... - syndrome"

I belive what Lagereek believ.   The time saved when skipping lowearners, would help improving the big 4 ports and give back more in the end.

But what if... so im still with a few lowearners :-[

Ive got 3ds max design.   As far as I know 99% of all the animation tools are available there as well.   Youve got tons of tutorials and free awesome plugins on the internet for max. Thats a big plus.

Price is the negative part, but be glad you dont live where I live.  Max cost around $5000 here in Sweden:(  plus vray $1000

GLStock / Re: GraphicLeftovers big news

I for one am disappointed.

I don't do people shots and liked the idea of having my stuff on a non-model site.  Once model shots are introduced it's only a matter of time before my images start getting pushed down in searches by irrellevant photos of happy young models.

Once Yuri & Co. are in the door, an agency is immediately competing on price with all the others.  And that will extend to non-model images too.

I was hoping GL would start moving toward a differentiated microstock market, where agencies might have individual focus that would attract those niche buyers willing to pay a few dollars for the image they actually want.

Just because your eye doesn't lock onto a specific image does not mean your brain does not take it all in peripherally and add to your processing of the information.

Good stock images just pass your eyes...  Its no "best picture" competition were in

General Stock Discussion / Re: Stock as raw material
« on: October 08, 2010, 17:31 »
For an example of what I'm talking about: http://abduzeedo.com/playing-displace-filter-photoshop

This is some great design/photoshop work being done, using raw materials from shutterstock. So, why do some photographers assume the role of designers and devalue their work by selling their work under subscription prices?

Because its paying the bills, and is fun.

Id get insurance before diving with a cheap case :-[  I have no idea what quality that stuff is but a real case is expensive.  Like this: http://splwaterhousings.com/nikon_d200_d300.html

Id be laughing all the way to the bank with that many flames in my port.  Youve reached a temporary plateu maybe, thats all, I think.

Plateu? Look at SS and FT on the same graph. They do not look very flat to me.

No they dont, but I was talking about Istock.

« on: September 12, 2010, 06:21 »
At the moment my sales are growing faster than they are dropping the commision. No other sites with higher commision can match that.  And who knows what happens in a short future.

Its plain stupidity to leave them right now.    I can be mad but thats about it...
