Not so out of the ordinary, but the result of a cooperative Great Spangled Fritillary. :)
And there are A LOT of things I could do with photos laying around but most of the time I just stick to straight photography. Maybe someday I'll try 3D software.

There is no way I would have even replied to the first email. :'( Why waste your time?

It says it is updating the application but once you quit and open it again it tries to update the application again. Just tried to upload a couple of photos to BS but nothing showed up. The update didn't work. :-[

General Stock Discussion / Re: June Stats Anyone?
« on: July 01, 2010, 17:05 »
BME overall with more ELs than normal for me. :) Up 39% from last June.

IS - 34%
SS - 31% (BME)
DT - 11%
Veer - 9%
FT - 7% (BME)
BS - 3%
123RF- 3%
CanStockPhoto - 3% (BME)

Since the company I worked for shut down over 4 months ago, I've had a lot more time to devote to photography and graphics. The quality of my work has improved and I hope I can continue to work at home. Have a couple of freelance graphic design gigs to help me out, and this creates a nice balance.

Forget about me, specifically. The question boils down to this: increasingly it seems that all the sales at SS are 25 cent subs; ODs are fading away.

ODs are fading away FOR YOU. Other people may be having a completely different experience. For example, their ODs may be increasing every month. You are trying to project your experience on to the microstock field as a whole and that's just not gonna work. :-\

I make about the same number of sub sales as always, but enhanced and on-demand sales have totally dried up, and I think that says a lot about SS's direction.

Actually, I think that says a lot about YOUR direction. ;)

For me, being with SS is very rewarding and my sales continue to increase with over 700 photos online.
This month will be the 2nd BME.

Off Topic / Re: iPhone update to OS4

I updated to OS 4 a few days ago with no problems, although the phone crashed yesterday and restarted itself. Some of the apps seem to be running a bit slow as well.

Yep, this has been a problem for quite awhile.
When I upload using a ftp client, it works fine.

« on: June 10, 2010, 11:16 »
I also have a 100mm Macro lens and there are a lot of pics in my portfolio using that lens. I use noise reduction software on the 400 ISO photos and reduce them to 2000-3000 px on the long side. I've found that SS doesn't like short depth of field pics like IS does.

« on: May 28, 2010, 10:13 »
Have only been at DT a couple of years and don't upload a lot of photos, only around 12 a week. My uploads are highly variable and my acceptance rate has been going up for the last 8 months. April was a BME and this month is also close to another BME. The big spike in Q2 2009 was caused by a series of fraudulent sales.

I'm really glad they made this change. :) Coming from a print background, it's usually a TERRIBLE idea to upsize a photo. I might start uploading again too, was having problems getting my upsized photos accepted before.

Veer / Re: Veer FTP Problem
« on: May 11, 2010, 10:26 »
I can upload through http... but one by one is an awesome pain!

You can upload multiples through the browser uploader...when you get to your window to choose your photos, just command click (mac) multiple files, then when you are done selecting them all, hit select and it will process them all at once.

Yep, this is what I've always done. Never even tried to use ftp with all the problems. Browser uploader has always worked flawlessly for me over the last year.

96
Seems like a nice incentive. Glad I've stuck with them even though last month was really bad.

97
I never use spot heal.  It's useless.

I figured the content aware fill would only work in very specific situations, which looked great in the demo at 300x200px videos.

I use the spot healing brush all the time. It's great for quickly removing imperfections in open areas.

98
it's a scam.

it's so obvious only gullible americans can fall for this.

This is a good example to show why 22 people are ignoring this guy. Does he hold the record?

DT isn't dying for me, BME with $1.18 RPD this month.  :)
A lot of my best sales were from high level seasonal graphics I created 2 years ago.

It is against the rules to download other people's photos and use them in your work.
