i upload to limited number of sites. Though i used to try to upload simultaneously when i had to upload multiple sites but now my pix 1st goes to (priority wise) SS > DT > IS > 123rf. Then once in few weeks or in a moth a big batch to BS=CanStockPhoto=DP simultaneously. And i avoid low earners now. If my mood changes then 1 bigger batch to AYCS. Random files go to alamy in random period.

I keep it to around 3-6 images per batch (though might have several batches up for review at the same time). I learned my lesson early on when a single batch of 20 or so got slaughtered Do small batches maybe get reviewed faster?
So do i (less pics/batch). Hope that my current batch pass sson (with success). Thanks

Not sure about that. I haven't checked in a while, but I think there are 1 or 2 threads in the ss forum about contributors experiencing long review times. I was always impressed in the past about how quick they review, no fast reviews for me anymore, even editorial images which used to be super fast are taking ages to be reviewed now.
Uploaded two batches of editorial images yesterday -both reviewed within a couple of hours (which is my normal experience). Regards, David.
So one can say its all about luck.

i dont take risk with resubmission in SS. I only resubmit just once that too if the images are selling satisfactory elsewhere. As far as acceptance is concerned my acceptance rate has increased in fact. But i have other issue with SS which is causing frustration. The review time. From the start of February my images are reviewed in 5 to 6 days though i send small batches of not more than 6 to 7 files. This is new thing for me in SS. Earlier they used to review my images within hours. From Feb i could submit only 4 batches of just 5 to 6 images. Even now a batch of 5 images is pending there for last 4 days. Do any of you facing same problem? But definitely some changes are going on in SS.
Yes they review very slowy now for a few weeks at least, maybe a couple of months. It makes sense that the higher than normal rejection rates that many of us are experiencing may have something to do with this. They may have a large backlog, the same as I think they had last summer maybe when lots of reviewers were on breaks. I'm speculating of course and I may be completely wrong. But long review times coinciding with high rejection rates. Maybe reviewers are under pressure to clear a backlog.
Thanks for confirming.. i thought it was only me facing delay in review as most of others were reporting quick review...

I don't share your experience. My worst agency is FT by far, 26 approved of more then 130 images submitted, in the same time, more then 100 of same images approved on SS, about 90 on DT and 70 on 123rf (still 30 pending)
IMO Alamy is much easier then FT.
i am in similar boat like you but my boat is bit bigger than yours. Out of my latest 147 pix to FT only 24 were accepted while 70-90% from these pix have been accepted by other agencies.

But is it wise to categorize/limit oneself to certain genera if he/she is jack of all trades ?
Sorry, I don't understand why you think attaching some categories to one's profile is limiting. If you are in a category, your images will be visible to someone searching it. If you aren't, they won't. Your images will still be searchable by every other existing criteria, whether you select categories or not.
How is this limiting??
Because i do take shots of the subjects that make me to fall more than 5 genera. So if people search photos by genera then few of my photographs probably wont come out as i have not filled the name of those genera. I am thinking this way. May be it would work better than i am thinking. Btw my sales are down in DT (also in ss, IS proving best now)

yes. DT review system is going to be one of the most weird review system or probably has already been so. Its not that my acceptance decreased there but there review is really shocking day by day. Really why dont they allow the buyers to decide what to buy or not if images are technically good. Someone has rightly said in the thread. The reviewers of DT are like frogs of well lol Rather allowing contributors to decide their genera DT should change genera of its Reviewers. lol

Dead for me because Status of my 5 images is "image under review" for last 1 week.

Go read this link. http://submit.shutterstock.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=120598The thing is what if the buyer mistakes Premier (PL) as meaning an Enhanced (EL) DL? Then we have a problem because there will be missing sales for both us and SS.
Thanks for the link. Meanwhile i have written a mail to ss support about my confusion.

I just saw that there is note near all of my photos in shutterstock. This note is-
"Note: This image is not available under the premier license"
Is it because i have opted out to sell my images for sensitive uses or my images are not being searched for ELs,ODs and other extra features of SS which actually contribute to much of my sales ? Any one else has same note near his photos in shutterstock ?

but whats the use to add genera of your photography when there is already a section 'Favourite subjects' in profile... Is it like that one may get request from buyers for specific photo related to his genera ?
These genres will be searchable by buyers, whereas "favorite subjects" is only visible to someone visiting your profile.
oh that is nice. But is it wise to categorize/limit oneself to certain genera if he/she is jack of all trades ?

same case here. I had few photographs of cargo trains running on bridge with no trademark anywhere in the photos, but SS rejected for "Potential copyright trademark." whereas IS,Dt accepted that..(Trains are government property in my country) i was also curious if SS not accepting any shot of mass transport now ?

thank god that they are correcting our keywords and dont disqualify for wrong keywords like IS and not giving us burden to reupload with the keywords they want :-)

You have 10.5 months to build up a solid portfolio. Why not look towards getting more than 50%, why set your sights so low?
Have faith in us and have faith in yourselves.
Lets make it 50% at bottom and up to 70% for solid portfolios. That would be real growth. That would really motivate contributors to upload new content to 123RF.
Certainty that next year will be better is a good motivation. Fear of a drop in royalties is NOT.
This announcement is a STOP in contributor's continued support and loyalty.
++ Why every effort by agency regarding THEIR growth goes against the contributors ? What do they do for contributors other than cutting their royalty ! It seems that they are just underestimating contributors. Shutterstock loves this.
Definitely such steps by growing big agencies will do nothing but add up shutterstock's monopoly.

great. So one of my favourite sites 123rf is also on the way to catch IS. though i have a small port but i am continuously making efforts to increase the size and my upload has been limited to few sites including 123rf. But as i and others are gradually decreasing their efforts on unfriendly sites i afraid that even 123rf will also fall on this category. This site was doing great for me and many others. And it has acquired higher rank than fotolia also as we can see at the rank table but with cutting contributors pockets now 123rf may also go down. I wish 123rf atleast start selling photos like SS.

The legal situation should be quite clear and obvious, if the issue is not totally missed by over opinionated member(s) with vivid imaginations in this forum.
So how? I posted the link to the shutterstock TOS and the important section already 2 times. Look for yourself. They do not prohibit the use of third party software or elements as long as you have the right to. I do not use any third party stuff either, but I do not bother if someone does so as long as he ahs the right to.
We license Software and sometimes content like textures, filters and use them to create our artwork. Stockers use public domain images (check istock....soooo many scanned images of old drawings), procedural shaders of various software packages, premade PS actions. There are thousand of NASA visual earth images on sale and incorporated, not to talk about 3D models from Turbosquid or DAZ.
And all this within the green light of the various license agreements. How do you come to such a fast and subjective judgement?
Just to make it clear: personally, I do not use any of them. But I think what is right is right and I have a true problem with the subjective and "not thought through" legal viewpoint of some people here.
agreed. One more thing to author(autumnlover)- did you not get any warning from SS (about the matter or asking you to remove such content ) before they blocked your account ?
