iStockPhoto.com / Re: Flickr and Getty
« on: August 11, 2013, 22:47 »
is it still running ? in the Discussions page it seems to be frozen since 18 months.
yes it has started again. This time one can submit images for getty/flickr curators after every 2 months.
ps- i really hate flickr. People come to just steal images there. Though they can steal from other sites too but dont know why they steal my flickr/getty images most. Watermark, disabled right click save or any other protection can not save images from thieves. If I upload images for just 1 day and then next day i find them in everywhere in the internet whether personal or commercial websites, blogs etc. Over to all, getty/flickr has worst contributor support. Hardly reply any mail. I personally stopped uploading images there.

yes. Rejections are coming only for things like potential copyright. Then they go to executive reviews and then remain pending for weeks. 1st line of curators are sending images more frequently to executive reviews now. I have had not faced any executive reviews for last 1 year but now my 6 images in last 1 month have reached to their executive curators (and all were passed) still 4-5 more images are waiting in executive review line.
I wonder if they are so relaxed for review of video files too ? because i find they are still strict for footage and dont give any relaxation.

I really cant stop expressing my frustration.. what . is going on with istock curators.. do you see they are accepting not just 1 or 2 or 5 but 10-15 similar ... not even similar but exact copies of images from same contributors and that too from a single batch...??? I just see a newbie's port and his recently accepted images are- 20 images of isolated tomatoes.. 1 tomato, 2 tomatoes- white background, 2 tomatoes- blue background, 3 tomatoes ....... and .....
when i joined IS, they were not accepting the images which are now best sellers for me in ss .. shame.

got it. But it seems that it does not over-write the new keywords rather keeps the same IPTC as earlier. though it can enter new IPTC onto a blank new image.. any bug !

Try IrfanView.  This is what I use now that prostockmaster is no longer free.
Does it save keywords in their priority order as per photographer's liking ?
ps- i heard that it works with one image at a time ?
Would like to know about some more options. How is iTag ?

Software - General / Saving keywords in metadata

Hi,
How to you save the keywords in images according to your own order as photoshop or Lightroom re-arrange keywords in alphabetical order after saving/exporting images. I have been doing copy-paste from shutterstock but i want to save the keywords in metadata of images according to their priority and not in alphabetical order
is there any simple software/tool or we can do this in Photoshop/Lightroom as well ?

(ps- please note I am not talking about keywords searching tool. For that MSG keyword search tool is sufficient for me.)

ok. Thanks Paulie

oh ok. Thanks pauli. My credit card statement came as purchase from PS and i thought when did i make a purchase from PS..! Yet i would see PS to take their commission before giving my money for a sale. But i am happy from PS SEO functions and auto synchronization google SERP.
One more question.. I paid for whole 1 year. So my renewal would be auto or i will be asked for renewal?

I have some doubts regarding how payment is done and commissions are taken by photoshelter. I opened my basic account there few months ago. and i got some  sales last month and paid all money immediately through paypal. Then last night i noticed that some money from my credit card were paid to photoshelter. I enquired to my bank and they said that these money were paid to photoshelter for your purchase but i had not bought anything from PS so i mailed photoshelter and they said these are the commission cuts for the sales you got last month.. its bit strange for me as i normally have to enter my CVV number and other security options for making any payment from my credit cards. More over i was paid from photoshelter through my paypal but commissions were taken from credit card after a month. These were my 1st sales from photoshelter so i have no experience with them. Can anybody please tell me if this is normal for photoshelter payment ? Do they (PS) save our credit card essentials ? The other stock sites and POD sites generally take their commission 1st and then pay remaining amount...

General Stock Discussion / Re: Earnings in June
« on: July 01, 2013, 12:32 »
BMY, because of 2 sales in FAA which were around 200$ each. 1 sale in Alamy at the end of month for 83$ (net to me, gross = 166$), 2 sales in photoshelter, however just small websize images for 28$ each. SS earning was mainly because of video.. rest all micro gave micro earnings.. but ok for my small port.

93
Yes i also feel like.. sooner or later they will apply this or something similar.. who knows if they would offer just image exclusivity leaving artist exclusivity

iStockPhoto.com / Re: iS exclusive rates slashed next year?
« on: June 27, 2013, 04:38 »
Hmm seems to be typo according to Kelvinjay-

"Good morning one and all,

This isn't something I've been briefed on, so I'll leave it to someone at HQ to explain why those particular figures are being shown, but it does strike me as rather odd that the Vetta rates and regular photo rates are exactly the same, which would incline me to think it's a simple copy & paste error, but I'm sure Lobo will be able to offer an official explanation shortly."

95
lolzzz man...! and we were thinking what worse istock can further do.. now i seriously think that istock seriously thinking of ending exclusive program completely soon and before that they want to test everything possible they can do to get even an extra penny from photographers

96
Really. I could not believe until i saw the new vista images myself. So Many sister images.. In fact not only sister but twins/triplets/quadruplets.. lolz i thought now they are accepting series of similar images in their Main collection after increasing the limit to 999 but also in Vista ...?????

ps.. also series of Grasses in vista ?? heck... are the curators favoring certain photographers ?

Print on Demand Forum / Re: FAA - How to get noticed?
« on: June 21, 2013, 12:59 »
i get many views if i share them to social sites. But the few i sold were from FAA only. (i asked the customers personally by mail. And they told they searched and found image in FAA) I have now stopped promoting my images in social sites.

98
Ok that they have lowered the criteria for their selection but why they are accepting the whole series from the same shoot.. this will badly affect those who have a habit of sending selected 1-2 images only from a single shoot. I used to learn from the rejection from IS. Probably IS has acquired some buyers / curators from alamy. In fact alamy also accepts technically correct images..
are they going to keep those images in Main ? or image bin... dustbin or whatever

99
Don't think Yuri is the only reason... otherwise istock's graph should increase at least a little bit. In fact traffic of all major micro sites are following same falling trend

100
Ok guys. Here Lobo says here-
"For the time being almost all non exclusive files have been placed in Main, including all files that were in Plus. The initial approach is focusing on better placement of our exclusive material."
So we non ex still can expect that our P+ may eventually go to Signature collection
