General Stock Discussion / Earnings Rating
« on: July 13, 2008, 21:31 »
OK, this is probably stupidest question ever; but since I couldnt figure it out by my self I have to ask.

How do you calculate the Earnings Rating in polls?
Is it percent for each agency from overall earnings per month?
Or you calculate percent per month for each agency individually.

Now I am confused even more  ???

Zymmetrical.com / Upload problems
« on: June 30, 2008, 03:32 »
Except for very few images, I was never able to submit my files through the web form, I almost always receive an error message.

At the beginning I made an attempt to submit my files via FTP; but they never even appeared in my submissions page for editing.

I almost gave up on the site; both of my tickets were never addressed and it is physically impossible to upload anything. Does anyone experience the same problem or I'm the only one?

StockXpert.com / Need an advice
« on: June 23, 2008, 16:24 »
I am turned in between reopening an account with StockXpert or just sticking with my original idea to stay away from them. After some time already passed and I have some extra time on my hands I suddenly get all soft and started to doubt my original decision.

To explain just few things, I used to (last year) have an account with StockXpert and was lucky enough to have a response to one of my emails about some stupid rejection. Well, better I was not lucky to receive that email; it was out of the blue rude response to my very polite simple question. And no, I didnt go haywire. I took one day to think about it, and then send a request to close my account.

So, now I am thinking, what if I overreacted This person may have had a bad day; we all have bad days. And business is business, should be nothing personal.

Am I wrong?

Shutterstock.com / Pricing and different sizes
« on: June 18, 2008, 12:44 »
Maybe this is a dumb question, but I would really appreciate if someone answers it for me.

When I look at SS image page, I see different sizes offered for downloads. Since theyre all priced the same to me it doesnt make sense. Why not offering just one large size? Is there a reason for offering smaller sizes? Am I missing on something (as a contributor) and there is some kind of a state secret?

Recently I purchased my new Rebel XSi. Having Photoshop CS2 I couldnt imagine I would have any problem getting a plug-in for my RAW files. Yes, the camera is new, but my Photoshop is not ancient (just one version down). So, I should be OK. Hah, not so fast

After calling to Adobe tech support I was finally surprised with an answer that in order to have my CR2 files open in Photoshop I have to upgrade to CS3 version. Apparently, they told me, the Adobe policy is to not support their older version so everyone would go ahead and purchase their newest product. And they told me that word to word!

Yes, I know, I should not be so naive. And yes, there are ways around it. Maybe I find some third party plug-in, or just use Canon software; but I am so unsettled by such unscrupulous business. Is this even legal?

Just one more dissatisfied voice to already large crowd of unhappy Adobe customers
