SnapVillage.com / SnapVillage Closure on August 1st
« on: July 27, 2009, 15:24 »
Hi All -

As we accelerate the final stages of the transition from SnapVillage to Veer Marketplace, we will be shutting down www.SnapVillage.com  this Saturday, August 1st.

Any remaining unpaid royalties will be paid out on September 15th. We will pay out any and all accrued royalties, regardless of whether or not the remaining balance meets the $10 payout threshold.

We will retain access to image files in the system for no more than 30 days in order to ensure remaining customers have adequate time to download previously purchased files.  After 30 days, all files will be removed. There are no steps that you need to take - this will happen automatically.

After we've completed and confirmed the final royalty payout - your accounts will be removed as well.

If you have any questions - please email:   [email protected]

Thanks,

- Brian

Veer / Veer Marketplace Launch Timing Clarification
« on: June 10, 2009, 21:09 »
Hi All -

It's become clear some are confused over the Veer Marketplace launch phases, and when you'll start seeing royalties on content uploaded this week.
Some of you have asked: "my content was approved yesterday. why can't I find it when I search for it?"

Veer Marketplace is being rolled out in 3 major phases:

Phase 1: The current customer-facing Veer Marketplace is still the Phase 1 preview version - with a static collection of content transferred from SnapVillage.  [launched in February, - content was rolled over from SnapVillage over the past few months]

Phase 2: We've just launched the contributor ingest workflow so you can submit your portfolio ahead of the customer release. [went live earlier this week]

Phase 3: A customer-facing launch that unveils a credit-based system, and connects all the pieces and make Veer Marketplace truly and fully live from end to end. [late July]

The sales and royalty reporting tools will be added as we get closer to the Veer Marketplace customer-facing launch (Phase 3).
Content uploaded to Veer Marketplace now cannot be searched or licensed until that launch.

The customer facing launch will include many important elements:

 - a switch to a full credit-based purchase system with credit-based subscription and extended-license options
 - a brand new watermark for all Veer Marketplace content
 - search and sort mechanisms for buyers
 - a robust collection to satisfy Veer customers hungry for great content:  all the new images you are uploading into the system now, plus all of the content transferred from SnapVillage.

Hope this helps.

Veer / Update on Keywording Issues on Transferred Content
« on: June 09, 2009, 18:33 »
Hi -

For those that have found keywording irregularities on their content transferred from SnapVillage - here's an update and some good news:

Our team has identified the problem - and this will be fixed by early next week. There is nothing you need to do - the files will be fixed automatically.

This issue only affects content transferred from SnapVillage. About 87,000 files were affected, and these files are being re-ingested and re-mapped to the Veer controlled vocabulary. These files had not yet made it live on the Phase 1 preview of Veer Marketplace.

Additionally - those that have seen blank thumbnails - we've just loaded an additional 50,000+ files, and most of those images should now display properly. We'll be loading more content throughout the week - so there may be a few files that haven't been picked up yet.

One note: this issue resulted in complete keyword / image mismatches - several have posted such examples on MSG.
Others have noticed their keywording is a bit different or an important term doesn't seem to appear --- the latter issue is more likely because you are now seeing the mapped Veer CV terms - which include walk-ups and many many synonyms, spelling variants and misspellings.

If you haven't already - you might find it helpful to read through the Keywording FAQ - which includes a bit more explanation about the Veer CV:

Thanks for your patience on this everyone.

Veer / Veer Marketplace Opens for Submissions!
« on: June 08, 2009, 12:49 »
Veer Marketplace Opens for New Submissions!

Were excited to announce that as of today, June 8th, Veer Marketplace is now open and accepting submissions!

This means you can now sign-up and apply to become a Veer Marketplace contributor. Once you pass an entrance exam (submit 10 of your best shots for our editors to examine) and then complete royalty and tax information --- youll be ready to start uploading your full portfolio.

By submitting your content now, youll be sure to have completed the approval process and to be in the system so your portfolio is ready to go for the buyer-focused launch in mid-summer.

Weve designed the Veer Marketplace ingest and upload workflow to help you submit efficiently and to help you keyword effectively.

Some of the features were especially eager to show you:

Support for FTP or advanced HTTP web-upload
Metadata and model and property releases can be attached to multiple images at once real-live batch processing capability!
Model and property releases can be stored in the system and applied to future image uploads
Powerful controlled vocabulary and keyword auto-mapping system automatically accommodates spelling variants, common misspellings and synonyms, and includes broader search terms. This gives you more efficient, consistent, and accurate keywording. For example, if a contributor adds the term happy to their image, the system automatically adds more than a dozen other terms such as happiness, cheerful, emotion, and good mood.
Automatic creation of preview images in JPEG format for images uploaded in EPS format, such as illustrations. This means faster and more accurate uploads for vector artists.
Youll have the option of selecting between PayPal and Payoneer as payment options during sign-up. If you decide to go with Payoneer, in the next few weeks following sign-up well send you a link to the Payoneer site where youll complete registration, and soon have your Veer Marketplace branded debit-Mastercard in hand for use in virtually any online, retail or ATM.
   No categories!

This is only the beginning.
The platform needs your input were actively soliciting feedback and feature suggestions to help enhance future releases.

Head to  http://contributor.veer.com  to get started now!

We look forward to welcoming you into the Veer community, and to seeing the great images and illustrations youve been creating over the past few months!

Veer / Preference for how vectors are priced?
« on: April 17, 2009, 17:28 »
Hi MSG'ers:

Do you have a preference for how .eps vector files should be priced on a microstock platform?
A few common setups that other microstock sites use:

a) tiered by file complexity/depth/layers (some vectors cost x, some cost y, and some cost z)
b) flat (vectors cost x)
c) vector is another file size option (vectors have rasterized JPEG versions, .eps vector file is priced equivalent to XXL size JPEG)
d) have another idea? (describe it)

I know that many of you here are more photo-centric, but I think this is a question you all should weigh in on.

We've got an answer in place here, but I want to confirm that we're in alignment with what works for you.

Your input = helpful+awesome   :D

[ edited to include important option that I forgot  - thanks Randomway! ]

« on: March 10, 2009, 17:51 »
Hi MSG'ers -

Wed like to learn more about you and your workflows, so we are conducting a series of one-on-one interviews with a select group of Seattle-based contributors during the week of March 16th to better understand your usage of microstock websites.

The interview will last approximately 90 minutes, in which you talk with a usability analyst and perhaps one or two others from the team. As were interested in how you work, wed like to conduct this interview at your place of business, studio or home office. To thank you for your time and feedback, well be giving all participants a $150 Apple gift certificate.

If youre interested, please click on this link and fill out this short (5 min) survey:
