Veer / Re: Anybody else has a Veer phantom port problem?
« on: November 04, 2009, 14:14 »
Hi Guys,

Please note, this is NOT a question on image placement in Veer search results of approved images, but rather a port (and its images) not existing despite already having about 600 images approved for a few months.

I was trying out Veer's search to see how far down my images were in the results only to find out that my approved images just didn't exist in their results db.  I've tried using 5-10 keywords from my approved images to narrow down the results and still nothing.  I decided to check my port link to 'view all your images' (http://search.veer.com/artist/505850?view=MP) and there are also no images.

Anybody else faced this issue? Or am i just using Veer (on AJAX steroids) wrongly?  ???

Hi Kentoh -

It sounds like your account may be on "hold" for some reason or another. As Whatalife mentioned - one common reason for this is incomplete tax documents. Another common one is missing royalty payment information. If this is the case, once the issue is resolved, your content would be up in about 24 hours.

This post has add'l info:

If you PM me your account details I can check on your account in the backend.

Veer / Re: Veery Quiet
« on: October 07, 2009, 18:44 »
I feel quite good so far for a new site, but also have notices a slow down in last couple weeks.
I have 265 images on-line, 49 sales so far an 135.70 U$ revenue, today i had an EL for 35 U$.
The bad news is that 100 U$ are from US citizens, so i will have a 5% deduction from that. Opposite to SS where only a 15% or so of my sales are from US.
BTW, can we ask for a payment, or did i read somewhere it has yet to be implemented on the web? or maybe its automatic like SS or 123rf?

Hi Arquiplay -

Sorry I missed your question here.
Just noticed your query after this thread bubbled up today. ;)

Payout is automatic after you surpass $100 in net earnings (earnings less any applicable withholding taxes). Payouts occur on the 15th of the following month.

Payments for those who surpassed $100 in net earnings in September will be going out in one week.

Veer / Re: How to 'process' ftp uploads
« on: September 21, 2009, 19:00 »
Lisa, you should be happy that you can upload "a couple hundred" images! I'm restricted to 100 per week. I'm still playing catch-up trying to get everything on Veer along with my regular 20/week upload.

Bummer on the restriction.  I am happy to have the additional upload slots but will hold off on filling them until I get some idea how long inspections are running...

Hi Lisa -

Your latest batch should be processed very soon (it's next!).

Yeah, umm er thanks for getting back to me :) - but it was actually user error (surprise surprise) :-[

It looks like I uploaded the images to Vivozoom instead of Veer - faulty clicking.

I got them uploaded now - thanks for the follow up.  And yeah, just click on workspace processes the ftp images

Hah - no worries! Not many agencies start with "V"   ;)

Hi Leaf -

It looks like you uploaded a batch of files last night our time, and those should be appearing in your Workspace. Let me know if not. I don't see a record of any files submitted before that.

When are they going to send over the money left in old Snapvillage account?

bump...I second that emotion

As mentioned before, final SnapVillage payments will be sent to your PayPal account on the 15th. This will included any accrued remaining royalties.

Veer / Statistics and Royalties Page Live
« on: September 04, 2009, 14:23 »
Old news now to some - but now that I'm back from vacation I want to make sure you're all up to speed on the stats page released this past weekend.

Posted to the VMP Group on Veer Ideas: http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/120

-------------------

We've included a few different ways to track your performance:

The top half of the screen shows a year-to-date summary.
The pie chart on the right shows what portion of your sales were made in the US (this is important info for those who are subject to withholding taxes on US earnings).

The bottom half of the page shows sales over a specific time frame - you can customize the date range in weeks (up to 2 years) and view the data in either chart form or as a table.

By clicking the "view as table" link you can get an expanded detail of each sale including:

- sale date
- sales type: whether the image was licensed with standard credits or with a subscription
- license type: indicates if the sale was a standard license or an extended license option
- description: shows either the resolution purchased, or the type of extended license
- a checkmark to indicate if the sale was from a US buyer (and possibly subject to applicable withholding taxes)
- gross royalty earned (before any applicable withholding taxes)

** Extra super secret squirrel hint for the Excel wizards out there: click the "download as .CSV" link at the bottom of the table if you prefer to extract the data.

Finally - at the bottom of the page is a list of your top performing files in the specified time frame.

-------------------

More updates coming soon - we've got another release that's about to be pushed out over the weekend (mostly buyer features/enhancements).

Veer / Re: Veer and Color Profile
« on: August 21, 2009, 17:30 »
Hi
As I uploading my stuff to VeerMP they are always files described as "Needs work" but in they explanation is...

This image is missing a color profile. You can continue with this file as-is, or delete it and upload a new version with a color profile. Find out how to fix a color profile.....

I try to open my image and make additional SaveAs just to add color profile to image and upload it again and there is no proplem.

My question is. Must I resave (SaveUs) all my images with color profile before uploading to VeerMP  or not or subscribe them as they says "You can continue with this file as-is"?

Any experience about acceptance ratio of this issue?

Hi Suljo -

You can still submit files that display this color profile warning - but you should click the image thumbnail and see if the larger version displays as you would expect.

This is really a heads-up that because your file is missing a color profile - our ingest system may not be able to ensure that the cutdowns and previews look their best.

If you are comfortable with the way the preview image looks - go ahead and submit.

Veer / Re: are all your pics showing on Veer?
« on: August 21, 2009, 17:27 »
Hi All -

Unless you haven't completed your royalty information or withholding tax forms, your images should appear on the site approximately 24 hours after they were approved. If it is taking longer than that - something isn't quite right.

See this post for more info on ensuring your account info is setup correctly:

http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/111

Apologies if you've confirmed your account is good to go and you are still waiting --- please email support directly on this (or send a reminder if you've emailed already) and we'll make sure to investigate.  (Give us into next week though - team is mostly offline this weekend).

Thanks,

Veer / Re: Veer payment?
« on: August 14, 2009, 15:42 »
Hi All -

Kiya is correct - there were two payments sent out today:

 - Payment for June 2009 SnapVillage royalties
 - Payment for July 2009 Phase 1 Veer Marketplace royalties earned before the launch on the 25th

The error was that the Marketplace payment was sent with the same email address as the Snap mass pay.
Apologies for any confusion - this is a side effect of the crossover during the final phase of the transition from Snap to Marketplace.

Upcoming payments:

 - September 15th - payment for August Marketplace royalties (will be visible in the to-be-launched online dashboard, plus payment summary email will be sent if payout is reached)
 - September 15th - final payment for any remaining SnapVillage royalties

Phew!
After that things will be much clearer. :)

Thanks,

- Brian

Veer / Re: Veer: Portfolio Size, Sales, Views, & Keywording
« on: August 12, 2009, 15:38 »
(interestingly our research indicates lightboxes are not as commonly used by buyers as we might expect).

As a buyer of hundreds of stock images per year, I never realized my buying habit of lightboxing to compare options, rather than immediately purchasing the first image that might work, was so unusual.

Glad to hear that this is not a permanent state, but hearing phrases like "next year" being applied to some of this stuff is a little daunting. I would really like some responses to previous questions regarding reassigning illustrations to the illustration category (when they were labeled as photos automatically and we have no way to change them). They do not appear in the illustration search at all. Also, to questions regarding replacing vector files whose previews do not appear correctly. It has been two weeks since someone told me they were in process of fixing these files and nothing has changed. Can I upload replacement files or do I need to continue to be patient for an indefinitely longer period of time?

I know there is a lot going on but I've asked these same questions at least 3 different times in 3 different places (email to support, here, and via sitemail) and I'm starting to feel a bit ignored.

Hi whatalife -

It's not that using Lightboxes is unusual - it's not at all.
Sorry if that was unclear - I meant that I personally would expect the vast majority of buyers to use 'em (75%+ or more), and we have found it's actually lower than 50%. But obviously still an important feature.

As an aside - one interesting finding from this research - our teams talked to a surprising number of buyers who pull images directly off a site to store as small comps on their machine - a kind of offline/manual lightbox of sorts. (Though, these are most likely buyers who are looking at images across many sites.)

We have been busy after the release, apologies if your questions on MSG or to support weren't answered. When things get busy I don't make it here as often as I would like - so emailing directly to  [email protected]  will give you a quicker answer.

We went through the collection on the backend and switched over previously uploaded JPEG illustrations from "photo" to "illustration". It sounds like some of your files weren't caught in this sweep. Do you happen to have an example SKU# handy?  I'll do some investigating...

I'll also check in on the preview regeneration and send you a update via DM.

400 images disappearing...I could be patient for a couple of days. Two weeks seems way too long to not have images up and selling. I have a feeling they got swamped.
I haven't been totally patient. I have written Brian a couple of times.

Unfortunately, he hasn't responded, which (based on past experience) seems to support your idea that they are swamped.

It isn't like I have much choice but to be patient! I was just hoping to learn I wasn't alone, but perhaps I am.  :o

Hi KB -

Just responded to your PM. We have indeed been swamped after the release. Our apologies for the delay - and many thanks for your patience. I'll be in touch later today.

Veer / Re: Veer: Portfolio Size, Sales, Views, & Keywording
« on: August 12, 2009, 12:18 »
Is there a way to create lightboxes? I have lost track of my online photos and do not want to go through pages to find out what I have and have not uploaded.

How weird. :( The MP images used to go straight in with the regular images in a lightbox. Now they seem to have removed the ability to lightbox images.  ???

This explains the email that I got a little while ago apologizing for deleting the MP images I had in my lightbox, and providing a list of the image numbers. I can't understand how they would think this is an improvement for buyers.

In order to create the dual-pane search setup that shows your content side-by-side with Veer's macro RF and RM content, we are essentially rebuilding the search UI from scratch. To get things rolling sooner and add in a critical feature like the search by price filter - a top customer request - we had to drop some of our existing search tools from the Marketplace side - including lightboxes (interestingly our research indicates lightboxes are not as commonly used by buyers as we might expect). The plan is to add these back in later.

What you are seeing today is the first step in a bigger plan for search that will unfold into next year and beyond.

Veer / Update on Stats and Portfolio Links
« on: August 06, 2009, 16:30 »
Hi All -

Update on two critical features:

 - Stats/metrics
 - Portfolio link / search by contributor

While we have lots of features and enhancements to address across the site - we know that these two are incredibly important baseline elements for our contributors. Search by contributor is especially important for buyers as well.

Hold on - both are on the way - these are slated for release near the end of the month.

Veer / Re: Does Veer accept editorial photos?
« on: July 31, 2009, 12:55 »
Will Veer Marketplace accept editorial photos? I looked around for the answer on all the technical wikis but did not find a definitive answer. Maybe some of you who already contribute know the answer? Thanks.

Not at this time. Not in the works for the immediate future either, but it could be added later on.

So to be clear: All images/illustrations submitted to VMP need to conform to commercial royalty-free legal guidelines.

As we've seen some nice shots of celebrities and even coverage of President Obama in our queues, it seems like you aren't the only one unclear. I'll look into adding this to our FAQs.

Thanks,

- Brian

Veer / Re: About Veer: a little weird
« on: July 30, 2009, 20:27 »
I don't think it has anything to do with "being like 123 and BigStock" or whatever you said, but I also am a little worried about the flat 20 with no other options. I misunderstood earlier conversations and for some reason was expecting to see jpeg options with vector being the highest price option. I have had a good number of views on my small mostly vector portfolio but no sales. I have no problem believing there are people willing to spend $30 on a vector file, but I don't think all my vectors are worth that. ;)

I think however that it is way too soon to judge for sure. Corporate accounts need a chance to get PO numbers to purchase credits, and it's only been a few days. They have been doing all the right things with marketing the launch so I'm fine holding out for a good while before panicking, especially with only a small portfolio at the moment. I worried every time istock raised the vector prices, but my sales barely missed a beat for a long time.

Whatalife - you didn't misunderstand. We just didn't get it in this release.

Adding rasterized JPEGs of .EPS Vectors is an important feature for our customers, and for you. It's coming - it's on our roadmap.
Right now we've got lots of really important enhancements - it's likely this is going to have wait a bit. Most likely this is coming in the fall.  Patience.  ;)

When this is launched - as mentioned in prior discussions, we'll have the full slate of JPEG options in all sizes from 1-20 credits.

Also - the big marketing push isn't for another month yet.  ;)

Veer / Re: Veer Marketplace Launches to Customers
« on: July 30, 2009, 14:59 »

Where do we look to see if we have had sales?

Ahem...

Hi All -

I've answered this question in a few places now, but I'll give it another go and be more detailed this time. ;)

Right now - the only place to check is the basic stats on the Approved tab of your dashboard.
Basic key metrics for individual files are shown inline beneath SKU and file info -

"Purchased" = cumulative total # of downloads
"Viewed" = cumulative total # of times users have opened product detail page (we're working to remove your visits from this)
"Earned" = cumulative total $$ earned from this file.

The aggregate stats/reporting panel is in the works for an upcoming release.
Until that is launched, you'll need to scan through the Approved tab to check for sales.

Hope that helps.

- An improved search experience will help customers filter search results by price with four tiers: Way Cheap (from $1), Cheap ($9-$100), Spendy ($49-$350), and Worth It ($49-$655).

Could have thought of better titles for the price bands, like Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum, as a buyer might be thinking 'you only get what you pay for', and not want to be labed as a 'Way Cheap Buyer'.

Just a thought  ::)

Hi David -

Veer / Veer Marketplace Launches to Customers
« on: July 29, 2009, 20:15 »
Hi All -

As you've seen  - Veer Marketplace has now launched to customers!  Whoo-hoo!

We're still ironing out a few bugs (most will be fixed very soon) - but it's high time we took a moment and gave you a rundown of the changes.

......................................................................
> Here's a summary of what's new in this release: <
......................................................................

- The tens of thousands of awesome images that contributors like you have uploaded over the last month. Buyers can now search and license your images, and newly approved content will be added to the site daily.

- Credit-based pricing and payment, available in pay-as-you-go credit packs or through subscriptions.

-  Images will be highlighted more prominently in veer.com search results with a new dual search pane that puts microstock next to traditional rights-managed and royalty-free images.  I think this is a really big deal - gets your content in front of more eyes - and shows off the great quality of your content in a new way.

- An improved search experience will help customers filter search results by price with four tiers: Way Cheap (from $1), Cheap ($9-$100), Spendy ($49-$350), and Worth It ($49-$655).

......................................................................
> There are also some important contributor changes to highlight: <
......................................................................

- More control over how your name, company name, or brand name is represented: You can now add an "alias" on your Ideas member page, which will also appear on all image detail pages.
You can also add a "company name" - if you don't pick an alias this will appear on image detail pages and underneath your full name on your Member page.

- Basic metrics on approved files tab:
On the "Approved" tab on your Dashboard, you'll now see metrics for the number of downloads and views, as well as total royalty earned for each file. A complete royalty and statistics panel is in the works, but coming in an upcoming release.

- Illustration setting for JPEG files:
You'll notice a new set of radio buttons in the metadata section in the Prepare and Submit tab on the Workspace page.  You dont need to change anything for photos, but selecting "Illustration" for JPEG-based, non-photo illustrations helps ensure search filters include your files in illustration searches. EPS vectors are automatically marked as illustrations, so no changes are necessary for those files.

- Age range and ethnicity drop-downs on model releases:
If you choose to use the model release dropdowns for age range and ethnicity, the appropriate keywords will automatically be added to those images. Works anytime you use that release in the future - saves time and makes sure your people shots will be included when customers use the "people" search filters.

- Integration with Payoneer sign-up process: I can't wait to show you the Veer Marketplace branded prepaid debit-Mastercard - it looks great!  Cards will be on their way in late August, early September --- just in time for those first royalty payouts on September 15th.

......................................................................
*** Important Note ****
......................................................................

In order to offer your images to customers and get royalties headed your way - your Veer Marketplace registration must be complete.

This means that some of you still need to take one or more of the following steps before your images are searchable:

 - If you were transferred from SnapVillage and haven't yet logged into your Veer Marketplace account please do so ASAP - you need to accept the Veer Markeplace agreement and the transfer of your files from SnapVillage. Just log-in and you'll be redirected through this process.

- Complete your withholding tax registration - click the "provide more informatiion" link in the text at the top of your Workspace, or go to:  https://marketplace.veer.com/account/continuesignup   after you've logged in.

- If you have signed-up to use Payoneer - you need to complete the Payoneer card application.
After signing in go to - https://marketplace.veer.com/account/contributoredit and click "sign-up" next to the Payoneer option. This will pass you into the Payoneer card application process.  This can take up to 72 hours to process - visit that URL again and click the "status" link to see where your application is at.

Once these steps are taken, your approved files will appear on the site within 24 hours.

« on: July 29, 2009, 13:14 »
Same here .Yesterday I was missing 5 images  too. not pending, not approved and not rejected. I did upload them again.
Today I looked and saw the missing ones got approved. (5 I uploaded yesterday are still pending)

Hi All -

Just to be clear - there is no need to reupload these files. Hold off until we fix this bug.
Any files that are 'missing' - have actually already been approved and the system is holding them until they are caught in the next search reindex.

Confusing!  - But As I mentioned - we're working on a fix right now.

Thanks,

- Brian
