Not sure if folks noticed in the Dash for Cash reminder email that went out yesterday - but we've doubled the weekly submission limit for the final 2 weeks of the program. Raised limit is active in your account now. Go for the 400.

Hi All -
I can try to help clarify: the timing of this agreement change was coincidental. Dash for Cash is a marketing promotion planned months in advance - on a separate timetable from our need to get a new agreement up 30 days ahead of the new version of Veer.com going live. The new agreement is required for launch to support the new site features.
Dropping the automatic year-end payout was necessary. As some of you have mentioned, paying out $.35 and $.70 royalty balances absolutely killed us on fees. We also had feedback from contributors who found such a low automatic payout more of an annoyance than a benefit.
I think you'll find the changes to Veer.com exciting - it's going to make our site look top-notch all around, and you'll start to see a significant marketing and customer activity ramp-up beginning late summer. If the sales ramp-up isn't quite as fast or as steep as we'd like, we are open to reevaluating the minimum payout threshold later this year.
We want contributors to hit payout. Sitting on unpaid royalties is not our game and is more of an annoyance for our Finance team. That many of you are worrying that you won't hit $100 in royalties over the course of a year is unacceptable to me. We've been working hard on the new site and will be working hard after relaunch to deliver more activity.

Hi All - We've posted a revised version of the Veer Contributor Agreement today, which will be effective July 10, 2010. As Veer.com is going to be relaunched this summer, we have updated the Contributor Agreement to support its new features and changes. There are a few key changes to note. The following can be found in section IV-E of the new Contributor Agreement and are explained in more detail in the FAQ: The ability to purchase microstock images with cash is one of the most significant enhancements to the re-launched Veer site. The new agreement allows Veer to calculate contributor royalties from cash purchases. Removal of the automatic end-of-year payout for royalty balances that havent yet hit the $100 minimum payout threshold. Removal of the term Marketplace from the site, customer facing pages, and Contributor Agreement. See an FAQ here that explains the changes and what they mean: http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/144New Veer Contributor Agreement (PDF): http://contributor.veer.com/images/pdf/VeerContributorAgreement.pdfCompare changes ("Redline") version: http://contributor.veer.com/images/pdf/VeerContributorAgreement_COMPARE.pdf- Brian

Hi All -
Just to clarify - Corbis-Sygma is a separate business entity. This has no impact on Veer. Our Dash for Cash program, as well as our relaunch plans for later this summer are all full steam ahead.
Best,
- Brian

Thanks Brian, but the whitening teeth tutorial is copied from Scott Kelby's book "The Photoshop book for digital photographers", first published in 2003. Maybe there should be some note that mentions that, so those of us who read it can skip this tutorial.
I'll mention that reference to Shawn - but obviously this is just one of many ways to whiten teeth. Shawn wanted to present a simpler way to start - he is very aware that some of the techniques may not be best practice for more experienced Photoshop'ers.

Veer technical/workflow guru Shawn Haskell - (twitter: @forpositiononly), has posted 5 video tutorials covering some ways to improve files when submitting to Veer - including: - how to prep vector files for submission - reducing dark circles under eyes - whitening teeth - checking and fixing filled shadows - checking and fixing blown highlights Check 'em all out on his Ideas post page here: http://ideas.veer.com/members/forpositiononly/postsShawn will be putting more of these together - he's planning to cover a range of retouch, workflow and technical topics. Be sure to let Shawn or I know if there are specific questions or topics you want to see him cover. - Brian

Hi All -
This is not a bug. We had a big sale go through from a large client.
Sign of things to come on Veer in 2010. We're working on more...

Hi Brian,
- Will the Veer marketplace images and the existing Veer RF content from macro contributors all be priced equally or will there be a tiered system.
- Will you ever sort out the FTP problem so those that want to can actually upload some images to you.
- And as mentioned above is there any chance of clarifying the part about making it "more affordable for customers", will that be at the expense of contributor commission, i.e. are we going to get less per sale.
Hi RT - 1) We'll continue to offer price points throughout spectrum of micro to macro 2) We recently pushed out a fix that may have helped some of the FTP woes. If you haven't tried in the last week or so, give it a shot. Email me directly if you are still having trouble. 3) No change in royalties - Brian

Hi All - Many of you have inquired about what we are working on, and when marketing is going to ramp-up. I've posted an update with some news on our plans for Veer in 2010: "Microstock Contributors are Central to Veer's 2010 Plans": http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/132Take a look. Question/comments welcome as always. Best, - Brian

You dont read what I wrote.
In my files there are NOT any grids, there is NOT any objects, lines or forgotten dots which are not main subject and NOT any ruler guides so what I must to fix?!?
Hi Suljo - Apologies for the confusion - I'll try to help clear things up: Our Editors are opening .eps files to check for any issues (open paths, stray points, etc.) and the editor that checked your file saw a border or dotted line (box) around all of your images (which could not be removed or edited). In one instance it shifted the image off the page.Another file had a blue guide open. While these may not seem like a large issues, our goal is to have a clean looking image for all buyers and files that are less likely to cause trouble for the inexperienced vector buyer. In your case, the editor just wanted you to verify that your original file was indeed ok and not a legacy file issue or another file type issue as they hadn't seen that type of uneditable grid (dotted line/box) in a submission before. In the future, we will try to communicate directly with you should we see such issues as the Editors only have a limited amount of space to give feedback. If you feel your files are saved correctly and your borders (dotted line), guidelines, etc. are all "off", please do resubmit and we will take another look. Thanks, - Brian

It is all relative. Can anyone see another site launched last year that is doing better than VeerMP? They are in the "up and coming" section of the poll here, that is amazing for a relatively new site. I don't know if they have started marketing the site seriously yet and how ambitious they are but with Corbis behind them, I will keep uploading. Not had any big problems with rejections yet. Some reviewers are stricter than others but that is the same with most sites. I upload small batches and most of them are being accepted. They have their quirks but overall I think they are doing much better than SV so far. If they do get aggressive with marketing and Corbis really is interested in microstock, they could be in the top 4 sites by the end of 2010.
From a marketing perspective - you all are correct, we've barely begun and there hasn't been much at all. This will change later this year. While I know it looks like we are quiet now - I can tell you we are working hard behind the scenes on some great stuff. And that 2010 is going to be a big year. We'll definitely give our contributors a heads-up on marketing and traffic generating initiatives as things get rolling. - Brian

All of Veer.com and the Veer Marketplace contributor upload system is back online. We pulled the entire site down for a few hours today so our developers could correct a bug that caused some users to experience issues with account sign-in. This has now been fixed. We take these issues very seriously.
Thanks for your patience.

Hi All -
Thanks for reporting these issues. We're looking into this. We pulled the contributor side of Veer down earlier this morning in the meantime.
We'll post updates on here and on our twitter feed (@VeerMarketplace)

I think you need to improve the watermarking on Veer. It is inconsistent, and the transparency is overbearing on some of my more recent photos.
Hi rimglow - We agree. On light/high-key images it is too heavy. We are working on a fine-tuned version. When that is rolled out we will reprocess all files to ensure there is consistency across the site. - Brian

Point taken...current relevance of keywords is important...perhaps Brian will put his on his list of photographer suggestions.
My fiance calls me pixelbitch as she tells me I spend way to much time at the computer and neglect her...and the name stuck.
@PB,
I like the ability to edit keywords and titles, to images that are 2 or 3 years old. Things change over time. Other sites encourage you to update your keywords to more current relevance. It shouldn't be written in stone at the time of submission. Also, you might come up with a better title, from suggestions on a forum.
It's definitely on our list. No promises about a timeframe yet, but what rimglow stated is quite correct and important.

Hello Brian,
Thanks for the improvements. This will help a lot.
What does the below statement mean though?
You can mix .eps files with and without preview JPEGs in the same upload batch
Does this mean we can do this: Myvector.eps Myvector.jpeg Myvector.eps
What I am trying to say is will the vectors uploaded using this option be available for sale including jpeg versions? If so, we need to upload our whole port again to get the jpeg versions? Or should we just wait a bit more for that improvement to go live?
Thanks
Improvements to Veer Marketplace
Good news! We are making more improvements on Veer Marketplace, and weve just pushed a release live with several features and enhancements. Some are specifically for you our contributors - and others are for our customers.
So whats new in this release?
New vector upload options - a top request from vector artists Sort capability on Dashboard tabs - improved portfolio management Clarified workspace control Media Type Addition of dynamic display of four recent images on member pages (minigallery) Enhanced search results
Read our full update on the Veer Marketplace forum for all the details: http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/125
- Brian
Hi cidepix - That means: within a single upload batch, you can have some vector files where you supply the JPEG preview image, and some files without a JPEG preview image (and we'll create it for you). This is for creating the preview image only, not for providing JPEG variants for customers. I don't have a release date for ratserized version of vectors, but it's on our roadmap. There will be no need to reupload your entire portfolio - JPEGs will be generated for active .eps files on the site. - Brian

I'll triple check - but I believe the limit is already at 20MB. I believe this to be true for both FTP and the web upload tool.

It would be best if there is the same ref link for submitters and for buyers.
Very good point.
Good ideas Suljo and Leaf. Thanks!

Does Veer have referral program for referring new submitters?
Not yet - but we're looking at options for adding one. What would you like to see? What programs do you think work best?

It is a bit odd that my old XP desktop and Vista laptop have no problems uploading to Veer. There must be something different in the Windows 7 default security options as Im using the same browser, firewall. router. anti_virus etc. It's the only glitch Ive discovered so far, but I consider it pretty minor compared to how nicely Windows 7 performs compared to Vista. Im still waiting for Veer to get back to me.
Hi Eppic - Sounds odd - it does sounds like there is some change in a default setting that is impacting ability to use the site correctly. I'll start checking on our side. Anyone else who has also upgraded to 7 and uploading to Veer Marketplace? Let us know if you are having trouble or not. FYI: I don't see any emails from you in our service box - we want to get back as soon as we can, apologies you've been waiting. In case the message was misdirected - make sure to use contributorhelp [at] veer.com for questions, comments - anything Marketplace related. Questions submitted to general Veer service will get to us, but this alias is the best and most direct route for fastest response. - Brian

Hi Guys,
Please note, this is NOT a question on image placement in Veer search results of approved images, but rather a port (and its images) not existing despite already having about 600 images approved for a few months.
I was trying out Veer's search to see how far down my images were in the results only to find out that my approved images just didn't exist in their results db. I've tried using 5-10 keywords from my approved images to narrow down the results and still nothing. I decided to check my port link to 'view all your images' (http://search.veer.com/artist/505850?view=MP) and there are also no images.
Anybody else faced this issue? Or am i just using Veer (on AJAX steroids) wrongly?
Hi Kentoh -
It sounds like your account may be on "hold" for some reason or another. As Whatalife mentioned - one common reason for this is incomplete tax documents. Another common one is missing royalty payment information. If this is the case, once the issue is resolved, your content would be up in about 24 hours.
This post has add'l info: http://ideas.veer.com/group/marketplace/discussions/111
If you PM me your account details I can check on your account in the backend.
- Brian
Hi Kentoh - Nevermind the need to PM your account information - realized you had included the portfolio link above. I'll PM you with more information. - Brian
