General Stock Discussion / Re: 8 months without uploads

Great work, Perrush. Pity you stopped uploading - I liked watching your new images coming... But then again, this study wouldn't be possible without it.... :)

I thouroughly enjoyed reading this thread, and I too like and tend to seek MIZ-posts. :)

Hope I haven't ruined your image, MIZ! :D

Oh, and to the topic - I am a photographer 'cause I have a big heavy camera with a big heavy long lens and when I look for a new angle to shoot from, I carry it one-handed against shoulder with lens pointing up, just like Boba Fett carrying his blaster rifle... :)

It's a very nicely done image with a lot of potential, so why are you surprised? :)

123RF / Re: why is 123rf FTP server so slow?
« on: July 03, 2008, 03:54 »
I uploaded one large batch of files yesterday and another today over FTP and it went at my maximum capacity of 46KB/s, so no slow-down here.

Adobe Stock / Re: FT rank
« on: July 02, 2008, 15:54 »
My numbers seem to be some of the worst, but then again, Fotolia rejects almost all my submittion now (1 out of 30 got accepted!) so can't add any new fresh blood...

Overall rank   22387
7 days rank   6947

What frustrates me the most with 123Rf is the constant need to re-login. Other than that - it's a great site.

Dreamstime.com / Subscriptions... Is there a way to opt out?
« on: June 28, 2008, 05:46 »
I don't think I like subscriptions, in fact, I think I start to strongly dislike them. I had just now my second subscription sale on DT - It was my 180 degree Tallinn Panorama (8264x2927, used half a day to create it), sold in maximum size for 30 cents. Right after that a Small regular sale of powerline fixtures (10 minute job) sold for 50 cents. Where is justice in it?!

Is there a way of opting out of DT subscriptions (like in IS). I am stillopted in on IS subscription program, because I didn't have a single sub sale there, so I am hedging, while subs in DT start to look counterproductive...

Dreamstime.com / Re: Raw requested
« on: June 25, 2008, 09:40 »
Hmmm. RF page for an image download has the following pricing:

Additional Format   Nikon RAW   .nef   8 credits

vs.

Large   3036x2010 pixels 10.1" x 6.7" @300dpi   .jpg   3 credits

So it seems I could make more money if someone want a raw image...

I just upload RAW files whenever possible (not for HDR or panoramas) and hope for a bigger sale. No RAWs have been sold so far...

My firs sub sale today - an L for .30. For comparison an earlier XS sale generated .33. I am not sure I like subscriptions...

Thank you, Alex, I will send a "second chance" request. It is great to deal with an open company!

A reply to the other folks - I did not compare 123RF to SS - I am not even an SS submitter. All I said is that these files were approved AND sold multiple copies at IS and DT, so I felt that they had quite strong potential...

Mostphotos.com / Re: MostPhotos playing with legal fire
« on: June 17, 2008, 00:23 »
I've stumbled across two car images - one an older Ford with the word "FORD" written across its grille, the second one is of nose part of Toyota with company symbol and the car's registration number in place! I left comments on both cases, but it seems MP/MP's contributors will get lawers on their backs...

123RF / Re: 123RF seems to be tough
« on: June 17, 2008, 00:12 »
My issue, which confuses me the most is that the 6 accepted images do not show in the portfolio. Do I have to resubmit these 6 + another 4? What is my next move?
I couldn't find any clear guidance on the subject.

I try to enter 123RF and submitted a batch of 10 files this weekend for initial review. They were hand-picked from my newer work and each file sold between 3 and 60 times on IS and/or DT. The results of inspection have just arrived - 6 accepted, 4 rejected with poor lighting/composition. I can live with that, though 123 will be missing on some sales. (See, I have a relaxed attitude towards rejections after a year of tutorage at IS :D)

I have some questions, though:
1. The accepted images are not in my portfolio - does it take some time before they show up there (like in IS)? Currently I can only see them in the history (nice feature, by the way).
2. Can I upload more images or am I still in review mode?
3. Is this the normal approval rate at 123RF, relative to IS (I have 50% AR at IS and if 123RF offers 60% of that, I can only expect 30% AR at 123FR :) )?

For the curious, here are the rejected files:

I already feel much better after reading all the replies here :)

I lookad at Panoramic Images. They seem to be a Macro site, still mainly mention film in their submittion info and seem to be pretty lucrative. I only evere done 6 panoramas in my protographic career, stitching them from multiple exposures.

In Panoramic Images submittion guide they instruct to select not more than 50 of your best images and have many high level quality, technical and presentation demands.

I think I'll stick to distributing my panoramas through IS and DT.

rjmiz, your sarcasm is appreciated, but there are times, when you simply have to resort to irony. :)

Oh, and you missed one more option - give up Fotolia as bad job...

Peter, one of my panoramas sold at iStock within a month of being uploaded, many of the panoramas, which come up on Fotolia search sold over 15 times.

EDIT: Thanks, Zeus, I'll look into "Panoramic Images"

Adobe Stock / Rejections, rejections, rejections...
« on: June 15, 2008, 11:47 »
This does it. The 100% rejection streak continues and I have just got an "Overabundant photo category" for a 25 shot stitched panorama of the northern Malta as seen from Mdina battlements.  A search revealed only one panorama from Velletta, and that was uploaded by me... The other 33 files show one-frame views from various loactions on Malta.

Here is the image in questuon, awaiting validation at iStock:

Jeg er med! :)

Vi kan diskutere de suverene forhold som den norske, svenske og, til dels, danske natur byr p for lage slende stock-bilder...
Jeg baserer meg i Lrenskog, like utenfor Oslo.

...and to address your original point: there is no one at the reviewer helm, it is an semi-automated rejection system with a monkey pushing the buttons.

Ah, that explains a everything! :D
