« on: November 27, 2012, 15:46 »
Hi everyone, as promised, we are reviewing or pricing structure for Vectors. In an effort to include contributors in this process, we have put together a quick survey that we are hoping you will all take a moment to complete.

Thanks for your participation :D

Hi everyone!  I wanted to weigh in real quick here to let you know that we are currently in the process of re-evaluating our Vector pricing on GraphicRiver. You have all made some valid points here and we are following this thread to ensure we have considered your concerns. Please know we value your feedback and hope to implement some positive pricing changes in the near future.

Thanks! - Josh

Josh, great to see you come here to check up on what's brewing amongst contributors.

I have a suggestion you might be able to bring up in the next meeting:

Kindly involve the 10 most successful illustrators on GraphicRiver in your new pricing scheme. Split it into 5 exclusive and 5 non-exclusive contributors to let them hear what your plans are. Other agencies did this before, having the contributors sign a non-disclosure form but I think it is extremely important to have a few contributors directly involved.

It would also show that Envato is interested in bilateral considerations. We're in this together and it can only succeed if both the agency AND the contributors are satisfied.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi guys!  this is still in the works but please know we are moving forward and hope to have some good new for you just as soon as everything is worked out.

@click_click, thanks for the idea, we have taken your idea and will be implementing something very similar to your suggestion.  Thanks again!

Envato / Re: rejected images
« on: November 20, 2012, 16:11 »
it seems there is no way to see what had been rejected in photodune?

or there is a way I had overlooked?

Hi mtkang, apologies for any confusion, at this time contributors can only see soft-rejected items and can be found under the "Hidden" tab

Please let me know if you have any other questions :)

PhotoDune / Re: Model Releases on PhotoDune - what to do?
« on: August 08, 2012, 16:55 »
Why not upload each release ONCE and you have to pay a reviewer ONCE to approve it.  Keep them in a library and when we upload again it asks "upload new release" or "select release from library".

This way, when in the future PhotoDune realizes it actually should have paid more attention to the whining photographers and that they have clients who would liked to see the "portfolio" of a specific model you would have that ability.  And while you are at it, have a "link releases" option so that updated releases can be associated with older photos of that model.   The other agencies are so specific that they ask gender, age, ethnicity - so if you have a buyer that wants a Latino female construction worker age 40-50 they can find it.

Thanks for the feedback :)  I appreciate it and will certainly relay your insight when we discuss the future updates and changes to PhotoDune.

Hello there, I am putting together a collection of fashion, model, and beauty related photos to be displayed on the PhotoDune homepage for the month of august, and though I have hand selected some myself, I thought it might be fun to hit you all up and see if you have any related items in your portfolio that you think would fit along these lines http://enva.to/NozaZW and would like me to add them to this collection.  Should be some good exposure :)

If you do and are interested, send me the link to the item via my profille on photodune - http://photodune.net/user/JoshuaSprague and I will include it in the collection.

Thanks! - Josh

PhotoDune / Re: Model Releases on PhotoDune - what to do?
« on: August 08, 2012, 16:38 »
I group images from a series together.  Then I include all the model releases that are in any of the images in the series.  All releases will be applied to all pictures whether or not a given person is in a particular photo.  This was my understanding of how we are supposed to do it.  If that's changed and images are being rejected for doing it that way, then my latest batches are in trouble...

I do agree that this is a really time-consuming and inconvenient way to deal with releases.  Because it is so disruptive to my workflow, Photodune ends up getting my new images much later (even months) than the other sites.

Hi all :)  This is actually the best way to handle releases at the moment.  Technically you could add all your images to the photos folder then all related release in the model _releases folder and as Lisafx has said they will all be associated to all the photos. But the "perfect" way for us is for you to add your photos in batches or shoots to the photos directory, then add the related releases to the model_releases folder (all via ftp, not zipped)

On a related note, I am not a photographer really and would love to understand the frustrations with our process better.  Is it more that it is just so different than the rest of the stock sites? Or is this process more time consuming based on tools you are using? Again, I am likely naive but to me it seems quite simple, and even less time consuming than attaching each release to each photo...  Believe me, I know we have some work to do concerning improvements to our site, but for where we stand today, cluing me in on the core issues would be helpful :)

Thanks! - Josh

PhotoDune / Input Needed - How to handle Excess Tags
« on: July 31, 2012, 09:27 »
Hi guys and gals!  Hope all is well :)  In an effort to improve the upload process at PhotoDune.net we are looking at different ways to handle how tags are managed.  Currently we allow 50 tags that are automatically pulled from the IPTC data.  This works well unless your image contains more that 50, in which case you need to go into that image, manually count the tags, and remove the excess via the dashboard, then you can submit the image .

A couple imperfect ideas already on the table:

-Automatically drop any tags past 50. A downside to this is the potential loss of quality tags. (It may be possible to truncate the tags by the inverse of popularity.
ie. Get rid of tags on imported items that don't show up as often on other items.)
-Add tag count and allow contributors to pick and choose what tags to remove.
-As a variation to option 2, add tag count and allow contributors to pick and choose what tags to remove with an option to auto trim to 50 allowing the system to automatically cut to 50 and proceed.

If you would be so kind, please share your thoughts on this.  How would you like to see this particular area handled?  How are others in the industry doing this better?

Thanks so much for your time :)

    -Josh

Just a quick note to let you know this competition is now over and we have posted the winning results here.

Congratulation to the winners, and thanks to all who participated :)

Thanks for posting a link here. I read the conditions and it didn't say that entries were required to be exclusive to PhotoDune - is that correct? I understand the 2 year time limit but wondered if uploading the same item to other stock sites was not allowed for submissions for this section.

Great question!  You do not need to be exclusive in order to participate :)  Hope that helps! - Josh

Envato / Re: Model Release form how?
« on: March 01, 2012, 09:09 »
I tried that . Didn't work. And what if I have images later on that need this MR. I think they make it more complicated than necessary . Well no model images for photodune I'm afraid..

Hi hofhoek :)  Sorry to hear about the trouble with MR's I understand that our system is a bit foreign so I would be happy to help.  When you say it didn't work, can you explain what happened? When you add releases to the model_releases folder via FTP they will automatically attached to any image in the parent directory (photos) You wont see anything however as this is done in the back end.  There is nothing to manage with MR's beyond the initial upload.  So you are correct that MR's cannot be added to an image at a later date.

Please feel free to hit me up with any questions :)

« on: March 01, 2012, 09:01 »
I uploaded 8 photos and they have been processing since midnight.... now it's almost noon... anyone else having this problem?

Hello frozensage!  Sorry to hear about this issue.  I have seen this happen a time or two before and my best guess is that your images have likely been processed but  no one told your browser.  If the don't end up showing up, please try again and let me know if you experience the same problem.

Thanks!

Envato / Re: Extended licenses and template resales
« on: January 24, 2012, 23:53 »
Hello Microbius, thanks for taking the time to post.  I wanted to see if I can shed some light on your question.

Yes it is possible that a photo could be used under a commercial license in a product like a flyer template.   But the extended license prohibits the use of an image in a final product that permits end users to extract, reproduce or access the image as a stand-alone file.  It also prohibits those who acquire the final product to resell the image as a stand-alone item.

Hope that helps :)
Josh
