Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 16, 2009, 09:14 »direct marketing is a quite efficient tool I am often thinking about direct marketing. What is the most efficient way to find and to contact potential customers? I think given the price range of our illustrations on clipartof, the most likely buyers would be graphics designers. Is there an inexpensive way to reach them directly? 228
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 16, 2009, 08:49 »As a contributor, it is not my nor yours job to promote the agency. It is completely fine if this is your opinion - nobody will force you to do something you don't want. 229
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 16, 2009, 08:33 »I would more likely want to build up my own site with my own images and promoting that site to have a 100% commission. Then do it that way. 230
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 16, 2009, 06:49 »You are not talking about a true ring, right? Just a reciprocal link agreement? We have to discuss this with Jamie, obviously. But I think both parties would benefit. 231
StockXpert.com / Re: Photos.com and JIUUnlimited to be handled by IS« on: June 15, 2009, 14:19 »So this acquisition was basically eliminating a competition. They just took only distributing channels while they were not interested in another microsite. Yep, this is probably the death kiss for StockXpert. 232
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 15, 2009, 09:58 »You are not talking about a true ring, right? Just a reciprocal link agreement? This is something we can discuss. I am open for both possibilities. I am not sure if one method is better than the other in terms of search engine optimization. 233
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 15, 2009, 09:37 »Maui, could you please email Jamie and explain about the tax please? I am waiting for Shutter to clarify things, then we can tell Jamie. Up to now a few of the details are a bit obscure. Quote
ClipartOf puts up links to the contributor's websites, and we place links to Clipartof on our sites. Since ClipartOf has a large traffic, this will get us more exposure with the search engines = more traffic for us. The additional visitors will occasionally follow the link to clipartof, which gives them more exposure as well. So we would just tell Jamie the link to our website, and we would place reciprocal links on our sites. 234
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 15, 2009, 08:54 »
The 30% tax is payable only if a contributor resides in a country without a double taxation treaty with the US. For all others - probably the majority of contributors - paying this tax can be avoided.
ClipartOf and the constributors - or at least those of them who understand the value of marketing - could form a link referral ring, which increases exposure and traffic for all participating sites without costing anything. Since e.g. my graphics are mostly very different from the existing stuff at ClipartOf I can probably attract a totally new and different customer croud. This might be true for some of the other new contributors as well. 235
Illustration - General / Re: Promoting Clipartof.com to buyers?« on: June 15, 2009, 08:30 »
Jamie could setup a referral program for buyers with an affilliate service like Commission Junction: http://www.cj.com.
If I see that actual sales are coming in I will promote the site via my own website, perhaps replacing links to Shutter and Fotolia with a link to ClipartOf. But I have first to see how things develop. 236

Is it now possible to upload raster illustrations via FTP?

It is worth knowing that for Shutterstock you don't need a separate 'small' jpeg version. You can safely upload the large one. I do this all the time.

New Sites - General / Re: Polylooks Mediastore« on: June 11, 2009, 04:51 »
There are some initial problems with the site. I suggest you wait a couple of days before uploading more until they are fixed.

How long does it currently take to review pictures? I uploaded some earlier last week and they are not yet reviewed. But I don't want to be impatient... They are probably drowned in submissions...

Do you have a link for this? I remember reading about it somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. 244

Yeah, it is completely clear to me that the site is intended for data harvesting only. Otherwise there would be no business model behind it.

This has nothing to do with sort options. It is a wrong search result - you are not getting what you asked for. 247

Hi Brian,
thanks for your reply. I think you missed the problem that photos appear instead of illustrations in the search, which is by far the worst bug. And when I am logged in there seems to be no way of changing my default country. 248
Zymmetrical.com / Re: Automatic FTP at Zymmetrical: a workflow preview« on: May 21, 2009, 06:11 »
Windows allows to create zipped folders directly. Why not let users store more than one .eps/.jpg pair in a single zip file? Then the user just creates a zip archive in Windows explorer and simply drags all his .eps/.jpg files into it.
(I guess there is something similar for Macs, but I haven't checked). 249
Veer / Re: Some glitches with the website« on: May 20, 2009, 03:51 »
