Also Bigstock Photo will bounce back, they always have in the past. If they have the sub sales that SS may be giving up .... WELL I will stick around to see what good news the future brings to all sellers on BigStock.

curious that you are still collecting "cents" at microstock if you are doing large thousands at eBay, if it is so worth why giving it for cents at agencies?

There's probably a big difference between the total amount made with eBay and the profit.  Looking at the prices and that they include postage, there might not be a big profit margin.

There is far more to it than just listing a photo for sale. Sure there is overhead in this as there is in anything else. Why do I still sell on BigStock and DT ..... the images were accepted years ago and the still sell and BigStock and DT both mail checks to me. I just spend the money. Why would I quit them if I am making money somewhere else??

Go ahead and copy how I list on eBay and make some money...... after you loose money for the first year or two. I am one of about 10 photographers on eBay that actually makes money. Price, Keywords, sales, description, return policy, finding BIG wholesale buyers, and about 50 other things need to work for you. Remember there is over a million photos competing against you. Yes, go ahead and give it a shot.

I did not intend to hijack the post.

I personally have noticed a large increase in sales on BigStock and at the same time a DROP in money per month with the new sub sales. I don't like subs, but I will stay with Bigstock as I have for over six years. Many months BigStock has been my Best earner, but I do not see that happening anymore with downloads paying .27 cents for most!

An additional note: I have not uploaded anything to anybody for about four years! Reason I earn FAR more selling photos as art on eBay. .... and with far less effort.

If you have been on DT for 4 or more years I'm sure you have images over 4 years that have never sold. DT will ask you to pay to have them Re keyworded or give them away for free or delete them from DT.

My choice is to delete then as I can see no profit from giving them away.

I guess DT does this to make room for new images ...... But if the were good enough to be approved in the beginning .... Why delete or give them away Now??

If after 4 years they (DT) feels the images are not going to sell ... I can see their point somewhat. But they are wrong about never selling as I have the same images and 1500 more on BigStockPhoto and I have images 4-5-6- years old being sold for the first time every month.

So my question is: What do you do about this (if your a DT member) and why?

Larry, I am curious - you have stopped uploading for over a year and the checks keep coming from DT and BigStock.  What about other sites?  Are you only on those two, or have the royalties from sites like IS, SS,and FT just petered out?

I am only BigStock and DT I quit all other site I was on over a year ago. (Yay, Feture Pix, and Cutcaster.)  Reason I quit them is I figured I might not live long enough to cash out. I was able to cash out on Feature Pix but it took over two years with 2600+ images on site.

I might start uploading again after Christmas this year. The best to ya!

You use the word "Depressing" very offten about any site when earnings are mentioned. Yet your linked to "Warmpicture Stock Photos" which is not even on the list of "Low earners" Question: Which site is earning big bucks for you? .... or you would not be putting down other sites with the word "Depressing"

I got three licenced photos in 6 years at bigstock. Each only $15.00 Not big but always welcomed.

Good riddance Kodachrome!...It took you long enough to finally die!  Ugh I remember those unforgiving days in college...our professors always made us shoot slide film...the most unforgiving of all films, so that we would learn to get perfect exposures the first time, only a half of a stop off and you were pretty much screwed, nowadays you can be off by 3 whole stops and still manage to pull a sellable photo out of your raw file. While Kodachrome did teach me to tediously meter the differences between my shadow and highlights I must say shooting raw makes me much less anxious about my exposures after a big shoot, and I will not miss the whole praying that the labs machines did not have a tiny grain of grit in their machines. I have many rolls of film with that single little scratch from a dirty roller running down the entire length of film rendering slides useless with out serious touch up time...remember that?. I do however miss popping those juicy little gems into the slide projector...slide shows projected on the biggest wall in the house were always the most fun way to review images from a trip.  Photography is seriously much more laid back since digital.  I think of digital as the equivalent of cooking in a microwave as opposed to slide film which is like cooking on a woodstove, pain in the ass not to mention the expense of buying film and having it processed, an 8 gig card is like the equivalent of buying 40 rolls of film....and OMG flash cards are reusable. Microstock would never have existed without the demise of the expense of film and processing.

Your professor was trying to teach you how to shoot like a pro. Accurate exposures. Necessary then and still necessary for top quality pro work. I will miss K'chrome.

Taxes are deducted from your earnings at the time of payout.
