Featurepics.com / Re: Underscore on some of your images. Why?
« on: August 25, 2008, 21:00 »
They appear on all thumbnails anywhere on the site. But only on some of them! about 35 out of 482 images.

Click on my port and see if you can see them.

Thanks!

Featurepics.com / Underscore on some of your images. Why?
« on: August 25, 2008, 19:12 »
I have noticed that some of my images on FP are underscored in the thumbnail view and I would like to know the reason why. At first I thought it would be images I selected for my profile page but many of them I did not select them and they are underscored anyway.

Must be a reason. But what?

This is one that is underscored.

And this one is NOT underscored??

Thanks!

Bigstock.com / Re: How many images do I need at bigstock?
« on: August 08, 2008, 05:59 »
With any site. More images = More Dollars.

On BigStock I have over 2,000 images and never sell less than 50 downloads a month. Fifty cents to sixteen dollars each. Pay out every month. (they do not sell subscription's)

You need at least 250 good images on any site to do anything. ;D

I was going to sign up with SS and after reading every word of all the above postings .... Well folks they will not have any of my images to mess with. They also will not have me on their site!

When your treated like crap with no answers etc .... they can cram it. And that applies to any site.

Now I will read about some other sites. ;D

It is now fixed. Entire site working normal now. ;D

Crap! Now I have nothing to rag about! I'll think of something soon.  ::)

No problems her. Normal sales and very fast review times.

That is NOT the problem!

Sales and review times are normal! I never said they were not.

NEW images approved from the 28th and later are NOT being placed on your port after approval!  THAT is the problem.

Can't see anything wrong with the site and I have 4 sales today.  Sometimes the problems are with the users ISP.

Sales are recorded  correctly. But new images sold will not be on the POPULAR search. And new images approved since the 28th have not been placed in your profile - portfolio.

July 28 was the last refresh for the site.... that was 8 days ago! They claim to refresh twice a day. Yeah right! I'm King Kong too!

I put a notice on their very dead forum not really expecting an answer as to why..... well, you guessed it, I did not get one.

Hmmmmm?

Oh who cares anyhow! I do not think they care very much about their photographers.

Bigstock.com / Re: New revievers

Many of my images that have been accepted at DT, SS, and others are being rejected at BigStock for stupid reasons. I am beginning to believe they hired the visually impaired for reviewer.

BigStock is quickly moving to the top of my crap list: long approval times, stupid reject reason, and SLOW SALES.

I'm ahead of you! BigStock is already on my crap list. Rejections is one thing but making up excuses (stupid ones) to give rejects for good shots is another thing. Then insult you and call it a snapshot!

My "snapshots" are done with a Canon DSLR and I only use Canon "L" lenses. nothing else. My lowest cost lens is $1,049.00 at a B&H discount.

I shoot at ISO 100 Only and use PS2 for all image work and start from RAW.

I have only been doing this (photography) for the 55+ Years so I do not think I'm totally stupid.

They think fog and mist in the air is grain! or noise, but they guessed at a bunch of reasons to be certain of hitting what they think is the right one. If they can't convince you perhaps they can fool you.

Mist = Grain/Noise?

Not me!

Over and out with BigStock.

Featurepics.com / Re: Am I the only one with login trouble?

Works fine for me

Do you use IE or AOL  to get on the site? AOL was the problem for me, I went to IE  and had no problem.

Try it folks!

Every time I log in I get bumped out the minute I try to get anywhere.  there is a message saying to go to a non-secure site - this has been here for weeks (months) - is it just me?   I can't do ANYTHING without going to the non-secure site.

If they know something is broken, why hasn't it been fixed?  At least it's a site I don't need to check stats at more than once a month.

I have tried every method suggested by admins and nothing works. I get logged out over and over and must sign in about ten times to get  on the site. I have only 114 images  on there now and many yet to be pushed through. I will try one or two more times and if the problem is not fixed, I will just continue uploading to where I have no problems at all.

They DO have a problem and do not appear to know it??? ;D

I recently join Bigstock and am uploading stock images. The slow approval process is a drag.

I am interested to know how sales are and if it worth my time? I have about fifty image up at this time and more pending.

Back to the original question!

Yes, you can make money on BigStock. But with any site the more you have the more you will get. That is if they are mostly stock selling shots.

Most of my images on BigStock are general subjects, golf, nature, landscape, agriculture, realestate, and with 2000 plus of them I have about 50-90 DL's a month. Every month.

If you have a handful of images like 100 or 200 do not expect too much on any site.

Hope I helped with your question.

I really have to thank Featurepics because when I pulled my stuff from there they paid me the 30 US that they owed me.  and that was a pleasant surprise.

Too bad they haven't taken off like some of the other sites.

You quit before they started to promote the site......... Late this summer!
They are a new site and said that in the very beginning!
I guess you give up very quick! I think you could at least wait untill they are open for business and fully promoting and advertising it. Don't you? ;D

-Larry

Whoooops! I thought you was talking about Yaymicro. My Bad!! sorry I spoke too soon!  :-[

Back to the original posting:

Yes, you can sell on BigStock other places may be better but with my 2,000 plus images on BigStock for 2 plus years I have about 50 - 75 DL's a month ranging in price from .50 to 15.00 each.

Lots of photos is the answer on nearly any site.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Major Crash - Need help!
« on: July 23, 2008, 11:54 »
After a major crash 7 years ago. I started burning every image I shoot to DVD's

Every image I have is saved as the original RAW
Also save on a different DVD in .tiff
Also all images being offered to stock are saved as .jpg on a different DVD

Yes I have several hundred DVD's spanning the last 60 years of film and digital.
Copys of my most valuble image DVD's are in a bank safety box in the event of fire.

My computer could crash this minute and the only thing I would loose is this posting.

Live and learn.

Bigstock.com / Re: Strange and harsh reviews of uploads
« on: July 20, 2008, 12:32 »
With BigStock flower shots must be technically perfect and outstanding to view or they will be deleted. (got too many of them)

Blur! If it is blurry anyplace in the image, the shot will most likely be deleted. Shallow DOF, misplaced focus, subject moved, etc., etc.

If you add a note to the description: NOTE: Shallow DOF focus is on xxx You may get the reviewer to accept it. Sometimes if they feel like it. ;D

Yaymicro / Re: Too early to take conclusions about Yaymicro?
« on: July 20, 2008, 12:07 »
General question.

Why would anyone delete a portfolio on any site after uploading it? Once deleted the chance for any sale at that site is zero.

If my port on Yay earns one payout every five years I would not delete it. One payout is better than none!

Meanwile I will upload in other places where I get a regular monthly payout. (BigStock)

Your thoughts ...?
