DP regularly advertises on lifenews.ru

Its waaaaaay overdue for DT

Esp with their low volume of sales

Come on DT lower the payout to $50 at least!!!

Agree, and I want to add Corbis/Veer to the list.  With their $100 payout limit it takes monthes to get any money from them!

Absolutely right!

128
Especially in the case of DT a lowering of the minimum threshold is long overdue. Do you think with SS taking the lead the other two agencies will wake up?

My last year of good earnings was 2010, in the years after that earnings shrunk by about 50%.

Mantis for god heavens sake, I do not critisize your pictures.
Its not your images Im after, it  was just there because you were brave enough to upload it.
and it proved to be a good example.

because you cannot see the keywords in the image.
Contrary to an image of a bicycle.
My message was pointing at something completely different.

I can see keywords in the image such as adventure, travel, tourism, unspoiled nature, quiet getaway, secluded beach, clean environment, to name just a few, I bet others can name more.

I agree with the "handle it matter of fact", polite, but firm approach. No need to get worked up. We're supposed to be professionals. I recently had a free request. I thanked them for their interest in my work, said that as a struggling artist I couldn't afford to give away my work for free and provided a link where to purchase the file for a reasonable price. I thought I'd never hear from them again but to my surprise they did buy the file (smallest size, ha!).

I get sales on Zazzle regularly, FAA once in a while, ArtofBusinessCards rarely, Crated never. That's all the POD sites I'm on, if there are any others worth the investment in time and effort please chime in.

123rf is not a big earner for me but uploading is very easy and painless, so I'll keep it up. Every little bit counts.

Example?

Ok but a little dubious of sharing for fear of image theft from browsers who don't belong to this forum.

Herg, I have checked the image at 100% and I have to agree with the reviewer, there seems to be pixelation going on, which looks like its because of the small censor capacity.

This is a good read http://www.gizmag.com/camera-sensor-size-guide/26684/

If you check at 100% you will see the noise / pixelation clearly

The sensor is fine at lower ISO, but the Chinese stuff image was taken at ISO1250!! What do you expect?

If you want to learn how to use the RX10 I strongly recommend this book. I have it and it is very good.

http://whiteknightpress.com/photographers-guide-to-the-sony-dsc-rx10/

500 pages of info, download version is only 10$.

Thanks again folks for the helpful feedback. This was the first day I was testing the camera in good light so still getting to grips with how it works compared to the D200. It's encouraging to read others here are using it for stock. The downsizing tip is very helpful which I will use all the time now. Unfortunately I don't have Photoshop but Lightroom 5 serves me well.

Has anyone used the HDR type facility on the RX10 with regards to getting a better dynamic range ? I don't mean the horrible gimmicky effect a lot use.

137
I have used the RX10 for stock images for one year. The image quality is plenty good, but you can't look at it as a 20MP camera. Downsize to 12MP or a bit less, and you'll be fine.

I recently came across a site called displate.com . They print art on metal. Does anyone have experience with them?

Taiwan is not on the drop down list of countries. Why is that? You don't accept contributors from Taiwan?

Hi, sorry for the inconvenient experience on this matter because of our incomplete data, of course we welcome photographers all over the world. The country information is not the  required one, please fill in all other  required fields to complete the register.

Again, ever single photographer is our valued contributor and we always welcome your advise and suggestions. We are keeping optimize our system and improve photographer's experience, we sincere invite you to join us.

Merry Christmas.

You should drop that 30MB minimum stuff. That translates to 10MP minimum image size. All the industry leaders have 4 to 6 MP minimum. Not many will upload their highest resolution images to an unproven site.

I don't have any exact numbers, but from the time of day the stats update it seems I have more US sales on IS than on SS, plus SS has the submission of tax info pretty well organized and simplified. Let's hope IS will do likewise.

Istock is no longer Canadian but US now, so taxes apply. For contributors from non tax treaty countries that can mean 30% taxes.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: My Sony RX10 verdict after Nikon D200
« on: August 11, 2014, 18:21 »
Turns out I have a duff RX10 and it is going back. The company I bought if from have had a look at the RAW files I sent them and agree that it is indeed not taking good , sharp images so hopefully I will have the real thing soon. Funny enough I read another forum where a Panasonic FZ1000 user is having the same problems as me with soft, poor colour and contrast shots so perhaps there is a bad batch of sensors knocking about.

I'm sorry to hear that, I hope they can exchange it for a good copy. RX10 is a very capable machine, but I would recommend downsizing the images a bit. You cannot treat it like a 20MP DSLR, more like a 12 to 14MP one.

I have been using the RX10 since February. I have no problem with sharpness, I'm a jpeg shooter, and usually have sharpening set to -1 and still sharp enough. Colors is a bit tricky, especially when overcast or shade, I use the white balance settings to adjust colors, "shade" setting gives warmer colors, "sunny" gives good blue skies, auto can be a bit cool, but I adjust in PP. I used the Olympus e620 before, and yes Oly colors and WB is better, but RX10 has many other advantages, I like the built in HDR and multi frame noise reduction. The lens is excellent and super versatile.

No IPTC!

148
Sony DSC-RX10 might fit the bill.

I'm thinking about the Sony Rx10, 24-200mm, 2.8 constant aperture and does good video too.

Photodeck does not take any percentage from your sales.
